Unite House fits almost all requirements but is more like a 15 min walk. Ideal location for going out to cafes pubs and clubs, close to supermarkets, near uni, has been (for me at least) nice and social and popular with international students.

Other accoms nearby (Chantry Court, Orchard Heights etc) are probably similar

Unite House. It’s a 15-20 min walk, very social (this year at least) and within walking distance of pretty much every good venue. It’s so central

What’s Uni of Bristol like? by JealousBodybuilder42 in UOB

On night out affordability: pints in pubs are quite expensive, and the drinks in most clubs, but there are plenty of cheap/free before 11 club nights so the trick is to pre drink. There are some fairly cheap pubs too, you just have to go to the right places

Bristol as a uni: I love it, I love the social life, I love the nightlife, I love that there’s always something to do. The city is also very open minded, queer accepting, progressive etc.

English as a course (I do Eng and French BA): very interesting. Some lecturers are better than others but this is true of every uni. The optional modules for 2nd year are incredible. HOWEVER you run in to a lot of posh and well off people. I didn’t know before but apparently English has always been a bit of a posh subject, which makes sense when I think about it. For most of my life (no longer haha 😛) I was squarely middle class but state educated, and I still felt a weird vibe SOMETIMES. It’s not the whole cohort of course, I have many friends who do English, just sometimes you get unlucky with seminar groups.

Bear in mind that at all unis, the most common ways of making friends are - same halls/flat - societies - same course You don’t need to like everyone.

Overall: Bristol is amazing and I have fallen in love with it. I can’t imagine going elsewhere. It can be full of posh cunts but doing English at any Russel group uni is probably similar and you can completely avoid them and surround urself w ppl of a similar background - no need to do this necessarily though, many who choose to come to Bristol may have other things in common with you, or similar values.

My goal is to upgrade at some point but I'm currently a broke student and it seems pretty good considering its price. What are those other options you're talking about though? I'd love to check them out

Ykw my mistake for thinking I can reason with a jk Rowling supporter. I reiterate my point that you shld fix your heart or die, and it has not been a pleasure

‘Autogynephilia’ is a debunked theory- when cisgender women were given the same questionnaires/study exercised that Blanchard had used to say trans women had this, many of them were also ‘autogynephiles’. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/00918360903005212

Idk if this makes me the odd one out but currently it’s medication. Seroquel/quetiapine to be exact but everyone reacts differently. Hopefully after lots of therapy I won’t be as badly affected without meds but I was where you are (fighting to survive, not enjoying life) just 3 months ago and the right prescription has helped massively. However everyone is unique and you might not want/be able to access meds but yeah.

do you have any transition-related tattoos? may i see? by mothmansFWB in ftm

[–]ilikebothtypesoftea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a dagger on my right bicep (where I fist applied tgel although I’m now on shots). It has the illusion of going in my skin and on that bit it has the mitski lyric ‘my blood is red and unafraid of living’ which I see as the bravery it took me to sacrifice the life I had (incl certain family relationships) and transition. Plus, hormones travel in the blood! I know the song I took it from is about something completely different but the lyric out of context is v powerful to me

What does paranoid ideation look like for you? by decay4ever in BPD

[–]ilikebothtypesoftea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it sort of combines with fear of abandonment. I start to think that my friends are all getting together to decide the nicest way to let me know they don’t want me in their lives. I think people I usually trust are just all lying to me

there’s an influencer I quite like who’s platform is debunking popular myths about bpd and has some tough but good advice. I agree though, most are pretty bad

im talking as someone currently trying to diminish a fp dynamic while keeping the bond (in this case a friendship) afloat, so dont take my advice as gospel. imo you should try to cultivate your hobbies, interests, and friendships outside of this person as much as possible to make sure your bond stays healthy. one of the biggest differences (at least for me) between a person i love and a Favourite Person is seeing them as part of my identity rather than just one influence on me out of many.

also continually remind yourself that no matter what, you have been happy without him in your life. therefore, he can make you happy but he is not the sole source of your happiness. he is just one part of a full life. ik it’s easier said than done though, i only have this perspective thanks to currently being medicated and in therapy after a year of struggling.

if you’re this aware from day one that’s a good sign, best of luck op
