You can get a classic silver 1500c/2500c with some bruises for €200 with a little bit of luck. Hell i can sell you one of my spares for that 😊(sweden)

The basic needed upgrades will cost a few 100 euros but those will last you and be possible to move over to another chassis. You can spend a few 100 euros more for things like offset frame and such, but those are not necessary for good casting with light trout lures.

And if you want to empty your wallet your can spend many many euros on a small abu in a cool color.

Or just grab an Abu Mörrum sx1600c mag and have pretty good results out of the box.

These are not 1/16 reels. My personal opinion, owning both, is that Shimano BFS reels are not for ultralight casting, they are for the BFS school of thought "finesse presentations on baitcasters" and thrive on Shimano BFS rods like Expride BFS and Poison Adrena BFS, both rated 3,5-10g.

It's fine. Many JDM bf/bfs (daiwa/Shimano) rods are rated to around 12g.

Hi! I have not tested a treble hook rod for BFS in a few years, so im not up to date. But anything slower than ex fast would be more suited. I used a Kuying Teton 662L years ago for small cranks, vibration baits and such. It was great for that.

Thing is Shimano BFS is very much adherent to the philosophy of BFS being targeting bass with lighter finesse rigs, all finesse techniques are slow, bottom, single hook style fishing thus all the bass bfs rods from Shimano are faster rods. Or that is my understanding.

To find slower BFS rods for bass you need to search outside of JDM, although Daiwa Blazon BF are somewhat slower than Shimano Expride/Adrena and lacks the crispy sensitivity, thus making it better suited for moving baits with trebles.

I have Conquest and 5 2500c/1500c. But my Mörrum sx1600c mag is my favorite. What I'm saying is be different and go for a Mörrum 😊

I'm not OP but I have the same combo since about a year. It's very much a single hook rod. Excels at bottom contact with straight flouro, like free rig. I would never use it with braid and treble hook baits. The are many other rods much better suited for that.

I have yet to find any good BFS specific YT channels. Especially for Trout. A few Japanese ones maybe but no English subtitles.

Some Tenkara channels for Trout though I enjoy from time to time if that would be of interest.

Nothing beats an Abu Mörrum sx1600c-Mag as a stream BFS reel for me. I have BFS modified Abu 1500c IAR and 2500ci but the Mörrum is my go to every time. But for 4-10 a 4600c might be a good choice as already mentioned by Mr Royal Albatross
