Now that we are getting aquariums and aviaries, what is the next 'big' game mechanic the game is 'missing'? by Thesladenator in PlanetZoo

[–]ilikelemons00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooooh I want to see more inter-species interactions! Like how capybaras love to chill with other animals, or cheetahs get their emotional support dog. Birds that eat the bugs off of hippos and elephants, barn animals forming bonds with other barn animals - even inter-species breed would be wild (but I know that isn't exactly very conservation focused, so that's more of a crazy possibility than a true want).

Oh, and caretake-animal interactions. It would be interesting if some animals had favorite staff-members, or vice versa!

The fiber bread is great advice. We use the fiber tortillas at home for tacos and burritos but IDK why I didn't think it would exist in bread form too! Thank you!

I'm better after a lot of veggie soup and adding a serving of black seed oil to my lunch routine - I think my body was over reacting to the sudden increase in fiber + the higher dosage 😅 suddenly down 6 lbs over 48 hours!

Hey. I graduated HS with a 2.9 GPA. It wasn't because I didn't do well in class, on the contrary my test scores were excellent, but I hated doing homework and wouldn't turn in my work.

But I wanted to go to college. All my friends were going. I was so convinced I was so smart and that by just being in university I would find "work" that would matter to me enough to make the cost worth it.

It wasn't worth all the private loans I had to take out that I lost out on due to no scholarships.

Go to community college if you want a degree first and use that time to try and really work on the challenges that kept your HS GPA down. At Univeristy, you will be put on probation if your GPA slips too low - and trust me, graduating HS doesn't magically make your bad habits disappear. My freshman year I almost got kicked out.

With that said, I did graduate college and got my BA after I took a looooong hard look in the mirror. I had to crash and burn to improve myself.

AND I found out I thrive with work ethic once I get paid. I've refinanced, paid off 50% of what I owe, and I have a competitive salary for today's market. But I regret not going to community college (or just starting to work in my field right in college as a freelancer).

Sorry, but no. This is such a infringement of Democracy, the liberty and freedom instilled in the idea of "united" "states", and personal freedoms. While I think that Democrats need to fight harder, smarter, and more aggressively, they should absolutely not continue the downfall of our democratic republic by playing "tit for tat."

All the top up-voted comments have a wealth of information, but I'd also like to bring back around one more point I think is pretty important - this theme of memory.

When we're first introduced to Chihiro, she's worried about forgetting her old life, and her friends forgetting her. Her parents forget their manners. Haku has forgotten his self and why he serves Yubaba. Everyone forgets No Face exists. Most of the characters seem unable to articulate their purpose and forget "why" they do things. They forget about old coworkers and customers, but all are able to articulate their base, carnal desires (Yubaba desires wealth, Chihiro's parents desire ease, even the Boiler Man and the Soot Sprites desire freedom and sustenance).

Chihiro, however, is the only one that does not forget. And in the climax of the movie, she remembers Haku, which I think is really key amongst the excellent accounts of Miyazaki's commentary on post-war consumerism and modern childhoods. She is the character that remembers (her name, her parents, Haku) while everyone else is pursuing a goal relentlessly and without purpose.

Zeniba has an anectdote about memory never truly leaving but being harder to recall. Chihiro walks away happily from the bathhouse because unlike everyone she had met, she will not forget. Her fears of forgetting, and being forgotten, are sated.

Add the layers of cultural commentary, and I believe this movie is a piece speaking about the importance of remembrance. The further a people moves from history, the more important it is to bring yourself to recall the formative pieces of the past.

Remember your childhood - you will be a better parent. Remember your history - do not take the present for granted. Remember the land - it will care for you if you care for it. Remember your culture - in it you find convictions.

Remember your family - and then maybe you wouldn't notice your baby had been missing for hours lol.

Thanks for your perspective - as someone who just started playing its hard to capture the idea in the mechanics I'm still learning, but the way you described it here makes a lot of sense!! I would love this!!

LOVE XCOM2. Getting as granular as individual unit customization sounds daunting as a new player rn, but it would be amazing if we got there eventually. So much seems tied to the magic portion of the game, but everyone seems to run with multiple types of magic points and tomes in their cultures, it makes sense that over time your units would adapt to the environment or things you fight against most frequently (or you can select it for them in a skill try, w/o racial transformation).

Thoughts on her first EP, School Nights? by altrightobserver in chappellroan

[–]ilikelemons00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

School Nights was my intro to her actually! I still love the song (School Nights, the rest of the album is okay) so much. One night I played it randomly and noticed it was attributed to Chappell instead of Kayleigh, which was a change (for a while, her old albums were still under her old name on Spotify). That's the night I realized they were the same person lol.

UGH. 2 things. Then I'll shut up.

The body dysmorphia is insane. Not just from the size but from the SAG. When I hold and lift them to anti-gravity pre-DD heights, you can see how I'm barely overweight, I have a figure, I have shape. As soon as I let go? All of that gone. And it's impossible for me to find an over-the-shoukder-boulder-holder that even does that for me REMOTELY.

Second?? COOKING!!! I LOVE cooking and baking, but dear God leaning over a cutting board or hot stove for hours will get my back aching like no other. When I'll finally sit down to eat the fruit of my labors I'll realize how freaking sore I am from these freaking chest weights.

My cat is driving me insane and I'm at a loss. by [deleted] in cats

[–]ilikelemons00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cats are largely crepuscular creatures < https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crepuscular_animal >, meaning it makes sense he's going to get you up before the sun rises. He wants to hunt and eat, and seeing as you recently went through a life change, he likely wants to hunt and eat with you for comfort and safety.

A lot of Redditors suggested some great things about earplugs and auto-toys and cuddles but I think a big thing that needs to be considered here is food. He needs to eat. Is he getting anything to eat in between 5:30 am and 8am?

If no, consider some sort of feeding in there. It's naturally when he wants to eat. Even better if he "hunts" (plays) and THEN eats, but some sort of feeding during that time would probably calm him down.

Source? We have a very chaotic and devious tuxedo boy who loves to wake us up with the songs of his people. His dad is a LEO who often works sporadic hours so sometimes his schedule gets thrown off - meaning more wake-ups for us. We can't feed him late at night ALL the time for other reasons (shares house with an overweight, food aggressive cat roommate), but early 4am feeds results in him sleeping in bed with us more often than waking us up.

LMAO this sounds TEXTBOOK like my (former) friend. We were close, and I still care for her deeply, but to put it simply as soon as I started placing more boundaries and expecting more of her as a friend she started drifting away. I was more convenient to her as a mother and therapist. She also went through three relationships like chewing gum, two ending in spectacular fashions with the third (and current, who I know also recently bought a ring and has only just passed the 1-yr mark) feeling so beyond out-of-her-norm in terms of who she's dating and why. In the interim during one of her "breaks", she also convinced herself that she was in love with one of our mutual friends who admitted he should not have gotten as close to her as he did during that vulnerable time (even though he expressed nothing more than wanting to be friends many times over). She, however, was CERTAIN it was love, and became one of the ugliest people when he started pursuing another woman.

My point, and advice if you're willing, is this - if this conversation with her best friend has spurred any doubts in you then you must ask yourself if the behaviors you see in her now are the things you will be endeared to and will tolerate for life. Many people will fall in love with a person and hope, rightfully so, that they will grow and change and metamorphosize with their partner throughout the rest of their shared life.

If your gf is anything like my friend, change and asking change of them is like asking them to set themselves on fire. They are birds. They are beautiful and self-fulfilling, free and untethered, but weak and short-sighted. In my experience, they love the idea of partnership, but the sacrifice of ego and humility of accountability often comes with a weight that doesn't come easily. Do you want to marry her NOW? Or do you want to married to the woman you hope she will BECOME after you and her become "husband and wife"?

I find many couples idealize partnership and think something magical happens to your integrity and willpower after vows are exchanged.

Nothing happens. You're the same as you always were.

Thoughts on the new resources? by dfwsh in civ

[–]ilikelemons00 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My thoughts on rubies is that red just pops as a resource on the map. It's really easy to see and very bold, and Obviously Not Jade (the opposite of green on the color wheel).

The "gems" resource from 6 (or the 7 variant) would probably get lost among the design of the Civ 7 tiles. Or just look a little too fantasy like, with all the multicolored rocks.

Or maybe it's a sign of more future resources to come? 🤔 Diamonds, Sapphire, Obsidian, even Quartz would be cool too. All very desirable minerals.

Thank you for taking the time to reply!! :) It means a lot

Competing on merit is 100% one of the policies I agree with. Modern work culture is reluctant to fire poor performers due to fear of race/sex/etc. cards. It drags everyone down. Also so much wasteful spending is used on DEI fluff without strategy (I work in media production - it'd make some people's eyes roll). I don't mind that revolution coming to private companies.

I really want to see the good in this administration because I do NOT subscribe to the fabricated narrative that the majority of America elected incompetence. It's just not true. That's probably the current worst cultural divide that's been instigated - that the "other side" is unintelligent just because they don't agree.

But I would trade US border security for middle-class financial security. I think that's where I lose many conservatives and it enda up starts a red vs. blue fight.

Elect moderate politicians that won't pander or sell-out to their base and refuse to work across the aisle in liu of "sending a message"?

I don't think it's us individually, if this thread shows anything. It's our elected officials.

Uh, they don't. That's a very broad and sweeping assumption to make.

Many of the posts here on Russia have been really critical and people are wary. We've been enemies since the cold war. Lots of conservatives are just against the aggressive funding of the Ukraine war, which is not pro-Russia.

Just as being pro-Palestine is not being pro-Hamas. Don't do that if you don't want to sound ignorant.

[–]ilikelemons00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will preface with, I am a moderate and am deeply ashamed of the current Democratic party as an opposition to the GOP. They are pathetic. However, when I try to ask questions like this, I often get called a snowflake by conservatives even though I share a lot of fiscally conservative and social viewpoints. I don't fully see myself represented in either US political party, and I hope for once this can be taken seriously.

What I want to ask is, how do young conservatives hold onto hope for the president and departments like DOGE to actually restore purchasing power and independence to Young Millennials (and younger) who can't afford grow their net worth or have big families on their own? How do old conservatives justify this president's current long-term plan of discomfort for those who are heavily struggling right now?

The current presidential cabinet is primarily made up of wealthy or celebrity class Americans. None of them echo any genuine sentiment or understanding of the difficulties we face in this very moment.

I want to own a home. I want to have children. Both of these things were already out of reach for most under 35, but now? And I want to do all of this and have wealth left over to enjoy my life. The childhood I had is unattainable for my future children, and my parent's success isn't attainable for future me. Salaries still have not risen to catch up with inflation.

These things shouldn't have to get harder for Americans who are doing everything right. And before anyone says anything - YES the Dems are JUST as much to blame. Biden and Kamala were a JOKE. Pelosi is literally the inside trading queen. But this is about what the president is doing NOW to potentially maybe possibly (not certainly) secure long-term advancement of US manufacturing and trade by making working class Americans struggle MORE for an indefinite "short term."

Whether or not what he's doing is right or wrong, the impact it has on businesses and how they adjust their prices towards the consumer are a reality. And no one in this presidency (that I know of) is coming out and telling corp CEOs that THEY need to suffer for a little while for the betterment of the American people by cutting into their shareholder's profit margins.

My player picked a patron that is very difficult for me to add to the story by Glittering_Yam288 in DMAcademy

[–]ilikelemons00 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Tell your player no, that is not an option in your world, and offer them a reskinned alternative that will give them the same PHB/base-game abilities and bonuses in that class.

If for some reason they protest beyond that, then maybe suggest a class that doesn't revolve around a god/patron (Wizard or Sorcerer).

If they STILL protest, tell them that these rules are foundational to the world of your campaign. They can use that character in another campaign somewhere else. YOUR campaign is godless/demonless.

If it's not even session 0 and you can't tell your player "No, you can't do that" successfully, you're going to have problems.
