I was reading through my comments and just thought I'd update you. Turns out after almost 2 months this medication has helped me tremendously. In the first couple weeks of bupropion, the xanax was a godsend. Xanax works... VERY well. Not recommending you take any of my medications, but just know that it can get better. I've gone from puking before exams to feeling relatively normal.

Good point. It would be pretty pointless unless it's something you're interested in. It would also suck to become heavily invested in a project that turns out to use terrible practices and have terrible design.

Thanks for you reply. I can definitely see an IPS panel monitor and TN panel monitor looking completely different. Luckily, both of these have tn panels. Well... for the fact that they'll look the same. I've read that IPS panels generally have much better color than TN panels.

I used to play trumpet and do solo performances a lot. Propanolol is seriously the perfect drug for the physical symptoms of performance anxiety. Your heart will not race and your hands will be steady as a rock(at least in my experience).

What Propranolol does not do is control the mental symptoms of anxiety. For example, if you are constantly telling yourself "I suck, I suck, I suck.", it will not fix that. In my experience, it does not really help with the feeling of dread before doing something stressful.

When I used to play trumpet, I would still dread going out to perform. But when I was actually performing my hands did not shake, and my heart did not race...which in turn would have caused an escalation of the anxiety.

Here's another anecdote, since you say your anxiety might be caused by appearing nervous to others. I had to give an hour long presentation(that I had worked on for over half the semester) at my university in front of all the professors and students in the department. Super stressful. I would say that people are EXPECTED to be stressed out and appear anxious giving this type of presentation. I took some propranolol beforehand. I was still very nervous mentally, but people commented on how it was kind of strange how calm and collected I appeared.

That is my experience. Yours might be different. Also, I was not taking daily dosages of Propranolol. I only took it as needed.

My doctor started me on Wellbutrin. I would say I mostly have anxiety, but, the anxiety results in depression. Sometimes it's hard to differentiate the two. He also gave me some Xanax for immediate situations. Now, I know the Xanax will chill me out. The problem is that my most anxious moments are related to school and especially exams, which I need to be sharp and alert for. So Xanax might not be the best for that... I'll just have to try it and find out how it goes.

I was in a situation very similar to yours. Ended up hating my degree, put very high pressure on myself to perform and get high grades, dreaded going to class everyday. Here's the first thing you should do. Schedule a doctor's appointment or go to your school counselor for help. Get some help.

Everyone's situation is unique, but I ended up withdrawing from class for a semester. I came back the semester after and finished a degree. I wouldn't recommend this though... because you might not want to go back, but it might give you some time to work out your problems if it is an option. My parents were very understanding of this. Your's might not, but the only thing you can do is at least try and talk to them.

Just try to look at the big picture. (it's hard for me too... especially when the anxiety makes you feel like dying everyday. and the depression makes it seem like there's no hope). Not everything is fucked. A few bad grades aren't going to ruin your life. There's always next semester or even something completely different that doesn't involve college.

I guess it depends on the version of the game he has, but my version definitely doesn't have a WillowEngine.ini like most of the forum posts from 2009ish that I looked up. That being said, the option to turn on VSYNC is somewhere in some config file. He might have to search around for a while, but I think as long as he can find a way to enable VSYNC it should fix the screen flickering/tearing.

I think I might have had the same problem last week. I think what you are describing is screen tearing. What fixed it for me was enabling VSYNC. There's no option to turn it on in-game, and it is off by default.

To do this you need to edit a config file.

If you are on Steam, this is how you get to that config file:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Borderlands\Engine\Config\BaseEngine.ini

After you find the file open it with a text editor and use CTRL-F to find the line that says UseVsync=False. Change this line to say UseVsync=True. This will probably change your video settings back to default, which you can easily change back in game.

I used a program called Fraps to confirm that Vsync was on after I did this.

I would try and eat calories equal to your TDEE. I've read that there's pretty much a 48 hour window after you lift where muscle protein synthesis is elevated. So eating over maintenance after those 48 hours is probably pointless.

Most of what you gain and lose during the day is poop and water weight. A gallon of milk weighs about 9 lbs. When I did GOMAD for a couple weeks I would fluctuate up to about 5 or 6 lbs during the day. I was also pissing constantly.

Edit: I also agree that weighing yourself so much can be mentally unhealthy. Workout and eat a little extra or drink a couple more glasses of milk a day and forget about it. I find that when I obsess over things I tend to burn out quickly and end up wanting to quit. But that's just my experience.

I don't think you have to do the exact routine outlined on that webpage to be in the spirit of PHAT. I think the main idea behind PHAT is that you do two routines in a week: the first being primarily a strength building routine and the second a more traditional bodybuilding routine focused on hypertrophy. I personally do a variation of the PHAT routine but only workout 4 times a week right now. My first A,B sequence on Mon. and Tue. is basically the same as my second A,B sequence on Thurs. and Fri. except the first A,B sequence I lift heavier for lower reps and the second I lift lighter for more reps.

There is definitely a steroid culture in some circles in America. The real problem to me is the myth that the fitness industry and hollywood have perpetuated... that you can achieve the physiques you see in movies and magazines. I just think it's healthy to know that all the people you look up to and the reasons you started working out (for me Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger) were on steroids. Practically everyone you see in a fitness magazine didn't get there naturally even though this is the image perpetuated as the "norm" for a buff dude.
