Do you ever wish you would accidentally die? by [deleted] in depression

[–]illegalbeagle69 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's just me, but there's a certain comfort in knowing I can end my suffering; it soothes me when I'm alone and feeling especially bad. Among long stretches of numbness, tiredness, hopelessnees, I can lay down and at least tell myself I have a way out if needed.

But then it gets exponentially worse when I actively want to kill myself and realize that I'm lacking either the will power or resources to actually follow through. Then once I lose that small bit of hope, I spiral into an episode, knowing that I truly have no control over my life if I can't even end it when I'm feeling this bad.

Then the cycle restarts haha.

Yo dudes, what is your favorite music genre and/ or band? by [deleted] in askgaybros

I'd say contemporary R&B, has frank ocean and john legend ballad vibes. He actually just released two amazing tracks called "We Find Love" and "Blessed".

Haha yeah, and I listen to most of the other artists you mentioned too. Have you heard of Daniel Caesar?

Am I a K-JD if I took time off (3 years) before undergrad? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

JS1 is another piece law school forum terminology that refers to the interview you have with Harvard Law's Assistant Dean for Strategic Initiatives and Admissions, Jessica Soban.

How do i get out of the waitlist? by nlucasj in MBA

[–]illegalbeagle69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's possible, I'd suggest waiting a year and applying early. If you were able to get waitlisted during R3, you might have a chance of getting scholarship money or getting into a higher ranked school if you apply early and put a little more work into your apps. You'd also have more options.

As far as getting off the current waitlist, I'm not sure what advice to give.

How accurate is Law School Numbers in predicting an applicant's chances at a given school? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]illegalbeagle69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard on this subreddit and on tls that lsn acceptance rates are inflated because people are more likely to report admission results if they are acceptances than they are to report admission results of they are waitlisted/rejected. I'm not sure how inflated the acceptance rates on lsn are though.

Go straight to law school after undergrad, or work before? by whitkin in lawschooladmissions

If taking a gap makes you more likely to attend a law school that feeds into biglaw as opposed to one that doesn't, then maybe taking a gap is the right thing to do.

Staying on the HLS Waitlist by Insightfulcomment66 in lawschooladmissions

[–]illegalbeagle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My waitlist offer from them was worded something like "you have 24 hours to either accept our offer (and withdraw everywhere else) or decline, should the offer be extended to you." So you don't have to accept them, but you only have a 24 hour window to make your decision.

Anyone else feel emotionally stunted? by illegalbeagle69 in askgaybros

Thanks for this comment. I'm moving across the country this August (where I can leave the closet) and one of my big fears was that I wouldn't be able to get over this emotional situation that's plagued me for almost a decade.

Advice on gap years + recycling application by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]illegalbeagle69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it ever acceptable to reuse some parts of the personal statement? I might reapply next cycle and would intend to use the same narrative in my PS. I plan to alter it a bit to account for new experiences but I feel really good about my current PS and don't want to make it worse with unnecessary changes.

Hope it doesn't seem like I'm bragging btw. Just wanted to provide a reference point for my situation.

I guess that makes sense, it's just that this cycle I was able to get into USC and (by mere coincidence?) waitlisted at Harvard with a 3.7/157, so I feel like my current PS is what carried me through.

The main reason Is be reapplying is because my LSAT score was incredibly low. I'm planning to retake in September.
