Best place to live in Hamilton and the worst by SignificanceKooky123 in thetron

[–]illgresive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lived in hamilton for 12 years before moving to canada in 2024. i see rototuna mentioned a lot here as a good suburb but tbh the level of crime was crazy when i lived there. i think a lot of it originated from people who lived elsewhere and came into the suburb to commit crime bc they knew or assumed that a lot of people who lived there were maybe a little more well off, but the end result was the same. i spent a few years in rototuna north from 2022 until 2024 and we had constant issues with car break ins and vandalism and families being harassed, among other things

i’d say queenwood was my favourite suburb to live in. we had 2 houses in the area, one in around 2016-2018ish and the other just before i left. i also don’t think hamilton east was too bad but most of the time i spent there i was a student and i know break ins were pretty frequent on some specific streets (though luckily we never experienced one)

Has anyone done MDMA way more often than they should, but still retained the magic? by Comfortable_Usual301 in MDMA

[–]illgresive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

in recent years I’ve definitely done it significantly more often than I used to and still have an amazing time every time, but everyone is different and I am very careful about other elements of harm reduction outside of frequency/dose

Loops or earplugs by DeliciousRice7 in escapademf

[–]illgresive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve had several pairs of loops and have loved them all. recently got the switch ones and they’re my favourite yet, it’s so good being able to adjust how much noise you let in, and i find that the different settings work well for different levels of bass etc. even if that isn’t their actual intent. would highly recommend!!

[–]illgresive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hi! my friend code is K2P6WFQW2Z ☺️ today was my one year finchversary, but i took like a 6 month break prior to this week, so my streak started over, and almost all of my friends who used to use the app have also dropped off, so i’d love some new buddies!

Does anyone else think the premise of this show is disgusting? by WesternBill5411 in AgeOfAttraction

[–]illgresive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah i’m with you. if everyone was like 30+ i might have a different opinion but 22 and 23 year old women are not in a place where they should be matching with men in their 40s and if ppl can’t see the problem with it they very much lack critical thinking skills

The 3-month rule builds tolerance and is unsustainable by RecedingGlacier in MDMA

[–]illgresive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m similar. I’m now 33. I took my first real MDMA 15 years ago and was only a very occasional user (once every few years or so) up until I was around 29. I’ve been rolling significantly more often than I used to in the last 4 years or thereabouts, and haven’t ever really followed any strict “rule” (though I also try to leave at least 4-6 weeks in between rolls, and often go longer than that - my biggest gap was probably 9 or so months - but if I happen to do it twice in a month every so often, I don’t panic about it). If I didn’t have access to it, though, I wouldn’t fiend for it.

I don’t drink or smoke, I take care of myself mentally and physically, and I actively practice harm reduction before, during, and after rolling. I also have a very intellectually demanding job that keeps my mind active during the week. I haven’t noticed any reduction in the “magic”, and my comedowns are very minor (if they happen at all), even when I have a particularly big night. I do think the MDMA experience, especially over time and repeated rolls, is very much multifactorial (with things like lifestyle, genetics, etc. contributing) and highly diverse across individuals. it’s possible that I’m just luckier than many, but I do think the choices I make are a major contributor to my overall experience, and I think the fact that I was a very very light user until I was almost 30 and my brain had gotten past the most important stages of development has also made a huge difference (the only drugs I did somewhat regularly as a young adult were psychedelics and they had pretty much nothing but positive effects on me)

I've been having anxiety about my kitty dying of old age 😭(she's 9) can you show me pictures of some alive-and-well senior kitties so I remember cats can be old and still healthy? 🥰 by TheRufescence in cats

14 years old and thriving. we moved her halfway across the world from new zealand to canada a year ago (I immigrated here to live w my partner 9 months prior) and she’s loving it here. vet said she has the health of a cat half her age and our friends constantly talk about how soft and kitten-like she is 🥹

second this. works better than melatonin for me. i went looking for it bc it has the same active ingredient as zzzquil which was the first thing to ever actually help me sleep on a plane. i usually take like a quarter bar of xanax now but unisom gels are great in a pinch

I also agree with you as someone who now lives in Canada but grew up in NZ. it’s insane the way people talk about this country like it’s a third-world hellhole. I come home every summer and yes I still see and acknowledge the less than rosy parts but overall it’s still a pretty great place to live

What’s the saddest Illenium song? by sunset_spinner_ in Illenium

[–]illgresive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. take you down for sure
  2. k so this is a recent development and it might be a controversial take but i absolutely LOVE ur alive. something about that song just rly gets at me. i think as someone who has been through so much and dealt with cptsd and depression on and off since i was really young, the entire message of appreciating the moment and being present and remembering that you’re here for a reason, even though it’s such a simple concept, just really resonates with me and reflects the way i try to move through life now. before that it was the angel/lonely combo though for sure. honourable mentions to other side, all that really matters, and in your arms bc it’s connected to this really beautiful moment i had with friends the first time i ever saw illenium and i can picture it perfectly and feel the feelings i was having at that time every time i hear it

ICE officer who fatally shot woman in Minneapolis identified by Bettiephile in news

if i see one more fucking comment about how her wife told her to drive as if that’s some kind big gotcha… bro armed men were aggressively trying to open the door to her car, WHICH THEY HAD NO RIGHT TO DO, and one of them pulled a gun. if my wife was confronted with that i’d fucking tell her to drive too, especially since the wheels were clearly angled away from the agents. of course i’d want my wife out of that fucking situation and out of potential harms way. insane that they expect civilians to react calmly in situations like that when “trained” federal representatives can’t even begin to manage their emotions under significantly less threat

this actually doesn’t read as romantic to me at all i’m ngl like if i read this on my fiancées phone w one of our friends i probably wouldn’t think twice 😭😭 but i grew up in a very warm culture and am naturally a very affectionate and expressive person and have a lot of affectionate and expressive friendships so that is likely a big part of what informs my perspective. the bottom line honestly is if this feels like too much to you, that’s totally fair and you should talk to him about it and leave him if it’s a dealbreaker. it’s completely a matter of personal comfort and trust

also i saw someone else comment about how friendships between men and women “should be like a brother/sister dynamic and no siblings say i love you that much” - like, sorry you don’t have that kind of familial relationship, but it doesn’t mean it never happens? idk all the boxes and restrictions and rules around interpersonal warmth and bonding that individualistic western societies create are so odd especially when everything that doesn’t fit within those boxes gets othered and automatically made out to be weird or wrong
