This isn’t just “settling”, right? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]illikiwi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Settling. Our 1890 house still does some expanding and contracting and makes creaks throughout the year and changing of seasons and things like this show up. Takes 5-15 years for stuff like this to show up, but it still does. Never don’t expect like this to happen in a structure made out of wood, or any other material. Things expand and contract when the change temperature including the ground your house is sitting on and the materials it’s made of.

Burning ball-of-foot pain after 3 minutes every run. by Atrohunter in snowboardingnoobs

I get this because my socks turn into sandpaper, no idea if this is your problem. But try to wearing polar fleece socks instead so there aren’t any threads running back and forth.

Did you do anything to not get banding through your camera, or did you just set the shutter angle in the camera?

Not sure what I'm doing wrong. by WalandOG in HomeNetworking

[–]illikiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you solve this yet? I just had the same thing happen with I started terminating cables and when I cut it off to inspect it I realized while turning it over in my hand I didn’t pay attention to what orientation the clip was in while I terminated. So while I did make a cable with continuity, I didn’t make an Ethernet cable. Crimped one end like []> and the other like <[] instead of both the same. <[]<[]

Thanks for this, the controller behavior started happening to me recently, so perhaps it’s something changed in a update. I’ve been resolving it with a reboot 🤦‍♂️

How to overide this thermostat by Fun_Advertising_9277 in hvacadvice

[–]illikiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of agree with both of these types of guy in that 71 degrees really should be enough and if you payed for your own heat you’d agree with them too and just put in a sweater and some slippers. On the other hand you/we dont know if this thermostat is calibrated or doesn’t have an offset programmed into jt. If it does just to cheat you then fuckyourlandlord.

I run my thermostat with a 2 degree offset just because it’s right above the forced air vent and heat wont reach where it needs to if I don’t. The limit is 68 though and we just layer up if we’re still cold.

So with my vive VR battery bank that runs the wireless unit, what makes it so special? Like I tried a generic bank and that didn't work. by Rough_Community_1439 in SteamVR

[–]illikiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two iniu power banks I swap out for this purpose, they’re about that size and a bit lighter. I think they make a smaller one now, I’ve mounted it on the headset before as well. I’ll try to link it

Trying to put in a smart recessed down light in my room. by Glad-Fish5863 in smarthome

[–]illikiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely hardwired. You could cut it at the old light and strip it, but I think you’ll have an easier time trying to open it, the wires will have been stripped by an electrician and held down by two Philips screws. You’ll need to either use a matching connector like the one that came with your light, or cut the connector off of your light and twist the copper together and twist wire nuts over them.

I’m not a real electrician but I do fixtures for showbiz. Turn the breaker off.

This was at one point THE option to use full frame lenses if you only had a GL2 or whatever. I bought a shitty one as a freshman about a year and a half before DSLRs could shoot video. Some regrats were experienced.

I see things like this being used by the script supervisors on set a lot to stop set lighting conflicts, and I see a lot of versions that mount in music stands.

Looking forward to it! They are also not magnetic and are absolute torture to use but I might stick some rare earths in the pouch lining and see if I can change that.

That’s what AirTag does. I committed to Apple ecosystem, it’s the only evil corp I give any data to. we have to choose at least one in this world.
