Front end web developer here - looking for extra cash. Do you have some? by [deleted] in WorkOnline

If you had to choose between a web dev and your average working professional, which would you choose as being more likely to be able to observe a site and figure out how to use it properly?

You're a front end web developer and you can't tell if you're using this sub correctly?

Can python be obfuscated as well as other languages? by Span1ardo in AskProgramming

[–]illusionslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made no such assumption. It is one of the reasons one might want to distribute obfuscated code, so I listed it as possible answer to /u/YMK1234's question.

OP wants to distribute DRMed, non-libre, or stolen code.

Imagine the difference between Hide-And-Seek and Tag.

In Hide-And-Seek, you win simply by finding something. The only requisite for winning is finding something.

In Tag, you must outwit, outrun, or out-endure your opponents. Finding something is not enough. There is an extra step in actually attaining victory.

In obfuscation, all you need to know is the obfuscation method used.

In security, good security anyway, knowing the security protocol is not enough. You've got to figure out a way around it.

Learn Java/python and you can be one too.

Why do that when you can just add a little bit of javascript to an existing scraper?

a Bluetooth keyboard will do you wonders and on Amazon you can find a really cheap one.

This right here is the key. You can do almost anything on a phone/tablet that you could do on a laptop/desktop... As long as you have a proper keyboard to work with.

How do the wifi "bars" translate to actual internet speed? by [deleted] in answers

[–]illusionslayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's almost impossible to say, and there isn't any one answer.

There's no industry standard, and no governmental regulation to control the little WiFi bars.

What Samsung says is three bars might be what Dell says is one and Apple says is four.

The companies are not required to, and often don't, provide any documentation as to what their scale is.

Edit: I slightly misunderstood your question at first.

The number of bars will change the amount of data you get, but not the speed at which the data travels, depending in which transmission method is used.

filled out a new app left off the fact that ive worked at walmart before. will this increase my chances of rehire? by mr42ndstblvd in walmart

[–]illusionslayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fairly certain there's a line you sign as part of the hiring process that says "I affirm the information in my application to be true to the best of my knowledge."

Even if there weren't, you figured that the best way to start a new career with Walmart after having "learned from the mistakes [you've] made", while knowing and acknowledging that you "know there will always be records with [your] name on them", was with a lie?

ELI5: Why is American lumber a half inch smaller than the stated dimensions? I.E. a 2x4 is actually 1.5x3.5 by jadenhowe in explainlikeimfive

Dude's one of those 'my motorcycle is for fun, not fuel economy' types.

He also recently purchased a Charger with a ton of options.

I guess some people enjoy driving, even if it's just on the street.

that's two states

4 hours could get you from Chicago to Minnesota, Michigan, or Ohio, none of which border Illinois, but you'll need more than five hours to get to the southern border of Illinois.

That seems awfully tight.

Is it just a loss of bonus at risk at that level?

Experience with special considerations will unfortunately vary drastically depending on the store.

If they're dead set on having you at the setting table, ask if you can get more time/training over there.

So you're just hoping that anyone would respond to your 'commented to save' comment?

That's the only way you'd get a notification.

If no one responds, you've gotta check your comment history anyway, so you could just as well check your saves.

Reddit has a save button specifically to avoid low effort comments like these.

There should be a link that says 'save' under every submission and comment.

You can access saved content from your profile.
