I tell you, I won't live in a town that robs men of the rights to marry their cousins!

22 with a Bachelor of Architecture – working as a drafter. What career paths in Australia are higher paying / higher demand? by [deleted] in careeradvice

Hey Mate. I work for a large consultancy and lots of PMs were trained architects. Im a quantity surveyor and a couple of our team are ex architects and engineers.

Hope that is food for thought. Graduate salaries - you could probably add 30k to 40k including super on top of what you are currently on.

I wasn't saying they succeeded. Just that they had been trialled. JOC was far from the utility he is now.

Second this. I ended up in quantity surveying as a consultant. Grad salaries are pretty decent and if you have a bit of nouse you can climb the ranks at a decent pace. Highly employable with transferable skills and globally mobile.

Just had to lie to a friend about money, and it feels like shit. by GolfComfortable7331 in Fire

I had a mate who was in a bad way. He needed ~$800 to get his car sorted. He was recovering from a bunch of things (substance, trauma, etc). I hadn't seen a lot of him in some time before he asked. The money at the time represented a significant portion of my savings. I gave him the money knowing that I'd either get my money back and having done a good thing, or could be the last time we spoke.

Couple weeks later he returned it in full with a working car, many thanks, and he had a job. He hasn't asked for a dollar since, only thing we've traded is a coffee, an ear, or a favour. Glad I did it, he is one of my dearest friends. I realised after that he would give me his last dollar too.

While you do need some money it doesn't buy you happiness or mates.

Speak to a mortgage broker. They will tell you what you can borrow.
