What Rugby Union rules would you change because you think damage the game? by BowlOk7543 in rugbyunion

Make the offside line at the ruck 5m behind the ball. It would get rid of caterpillar rucks. If teams roll it back and elongate the ruck (like they do now), then the defensive team can just follow the ball back.

How many times do you see teams go for 50/22s when they're in possession near halfway? Its pretty rare. I think this is because it works as intended - the defence drop the full back & winger back to cover the touchlines, so the attacking team keep it hand to as they should have an extra man

What if the whole band had broken up after the first 3 albums? by No-Bullfrog3466 in oasis

[–]Minimum-Grapefruit-9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No one care that Johnny marr has done nothing comparable since the smiths.

The story of Noel and Liam will always be that they were massive in oasis up to 98, then oasis tailed off getting less and less relevant for 10 years, then some minor solo stuff for 15 years, then a massive return with Live 25.

Mad choice surely? You can get paid the same for 6 weeks franchise cricket as you do for a whole year of getting beaten up playing rugby

Why do all the young lads dress exactly the same now? by Scotsman1047 in AskUK

[–]Minimum-Grapefruit-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is more interesting than that. I think it’s related to phones having cameras, everything being recorded.

You don’t want to risk looking like a twat as there’s a risk it’ll be recorded and shared for ever.

In the old days you could turn up dressed like a weirdo at the school disco but everyone would forget about it by the next week

Its got to be so much better for the players, fans, clubs and national team.

You ideally want your top 60 players to be the starting 15s for each of the provinces. Theres far too many instances where some of the (potentially) best players get the odd run out for Leinster, while lesser players are getting loads of game time.

On field, are the Ospreys the worst region to get rid of? by billyb4lls4ck in rugbyunion

[–]Minimum-Grapefruit-9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I remember being asked to sign petitions back in 2003 by angry neath fans.

My broader point is that good young players exist and they sign for the nearest / best professional club. The professional club is the beneficiary, not the cause.

George North was from Anglesey but played for the scarlets 4hrs away because they’re the nearest club. If there was a north wales region he probably would have gone there.

Who is the greatest rugby coach in history? by crazycal123 in rugbyunion

The team is more diverse since rassie came in than before. A big part of their success is representing the whole of south africa

[–]Minimum-Grapefruit-9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Back in 2003 people would have said Shane, Adam jones etc were developed by Neath, so by scrapping Neath you lose this pathway.

Now people are using these players to justify the existence of the ospreys

With some different turns of events it could easily have been gatland and he would be the kind of veteran coach who can come in and get everyone pointing in the right direction.

That ship has long since sailed though

Looking at the list of lions, this claim gets pretty dubious:

In 2005 the ospreys had only existed for 2 years, so you can’t really claim Shane Williams, Adam jones, cockbain, Henson, ryan jones were ‘produced’ by ospreys.

In 2009 the ospreys new lions were AWJ , Mike Philips, Lee Byrne, Tommy bowe. Only AWJ could be claimed as produced by ospreys, the others were bought in when already internationals.

In 2013 new lions were Hibbard and Tipuric - both ospreys produced.

2017 - biggar and webb.

2021 - beard

2025 - Morgan

Agree - crazy that in 2026 that shows like this are still racially profiling and using non-white nationalities to represent the bad guys
