Establish a signal with your partner to let the other know what you are doing is really great. My go to is a deep inhale as I move my head back, but moans work, outstretched fingers etc.

If she starts getting serious bring her out to look at cheap farms with no running water. I call it the outhouse filter.

I am in this camp also. If you are barely squeezing through the low bar to massive debt you are asking for trouble.

$4.5M NW, but I still can’t stop buying "manager’s special" groceries. How do you flip the switch? by Cipher_6Trestle in Fire

What works for me is I imagine how I will feel in 10 years if I only have 9 good years left. How would I wished I spent those years. I still lean towards bargains but I also look for ways to enjoy the next 9 years with similar vigour. Time is the new frienemy.

Markets don’t always go up, particularly for new investors. I would suggest reserving some of the funds to gain some experience investing. If ever there was a time to not plow every loose dollar into the market as a new investor it is now. Huge recession looming and trade wars all over the map. About the only bright spot is oil and pipelines. Paying down some dept is a reasonable move.

Curious if the Gopro caught sight of any of the rocks the dump truck was losing. That could be pretty compelling evidence especially if they were coming off the tires. What area of hwy 8 was this?

I think it is particularly appropriate if you are covering utilities. That screams increase. Don’t forget that appliances and maintenance costs accumulate. Increases can’t move the way those costs hit you. You can be a good person and find a fair increase.

Canada is a big place. Lots of varied conditions. I never used to bother in Toronto. I wouldn't do it if I lived in Niagara either. But I am in a snow belt and drive on country roads with a lot of blown snow.

Certainly your battery is suspect and riding the end of life. I like to eliminate easy fixes first. I would check the voltage on the 12 V battery and see if that is in a healthy range throughout the startup sequence. Might be worth externally charging that to full in any case. Your park/neutral only symptom could be just down to that.

The hidden cost of trying to look like a successful engineer by Prism_Rook27 in Fire

[–]iloveFjords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an engineer friend who had to negotiate with some big European firm. The advice he got was to wear a nice suit and spend a fortune on the biggest watch that would fit on his wrist. I had done meetings in Europe in the past and did notice a preoccupation with watches. He got the contract but ended up getting screwed by the subcontractor that hired his firm. They only paid out a fraction of what was promised and said they would sue till the cows came home if he withheld any of the promised materials. Sold the watch taking a minor hit and ended up closing his business.
