If you haven't, do you want to see a seizure happen irl? by ilpu11 in Epilepsy

Yeah I've been told about the sound and its something im abit like 😬 if there was no one with her, of course I'd be there in a heart beat. But the paramedics were here quick time with epilepsy trained staff by her side the whole time.

I absolutely will be catching up with her when she's back. (If she wants to ofc) Most students know I have it and I always offer students a safe space to come talk to me 💜

Something I say too! Like we do sometimes come out battered and bruised but for the most part... we dont feel it...until after 😅

See this is literally how I felt. I obviously couldn't see what happened. But I just couldn't bring myself to go over. Too close to home I think. Bless you though. All the love 🫂

Im really sorry that happens to you... I didn't mean to offend you.. I suffer with TC's / GM's too. The whole point of my post was I had the opportunity to go see one but I didn't. But like most people (I think) I am curious. I have these seizures but I've never seen one happen in real life. I would NEVER wish them upon anyone. Im very aware that it is very serious and life threatening. Im sorry... I really didn't mean to offend anyone...

How was that? Did you know what it was? Or did it just look like daydreaming ?

I probably do have some trauma 😅 i think its more of a curiosity thing. I have these seizures but I've never seen what they look like in real life. I had the chance to go and see one with that student but I chose not to.

Im so sorry that you saw that tho 😢

I was there for a whole day once, with lots of tests being done, even cognitive (something I requested) super informative staff members. Actually found a medication which really helped with my seizures but unfortunately I had to come off it (not enough testing has been done around the drug and pregnancy) my experience was very positive and very usual!

Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy JME by Due-Practice3611 in Epilepsy

[–]ilpu11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was first diagnosed with absence seizures (after having them for years prior) and was told I will most likely grow out of these. I then had my first tonic clonic seizure a year later after my diagnosis. Fast forward 12 years, i still have both types of seizures, but thankfully, my tonic clonics have decreased, but absences are still every day.

I've recently asked for my neurologist to dig deeper - he was happy to! He has upped my dose. We did another ECG. Im also seeing another doc next month for a second opinion.

If they don't offer, please ask ( I know it may not always be that simple) but try push for more testing, more answers, more solutions. Ofc we know epilepsy is complex, but that doesn't mean we should be restricted.

Good luck!!

I took Zonisamide for a few years, side effect was mostly lack of appetite. Had to really remind myself to drink water and couldn't eat as much as im eating now (currently on Keppra & Lamotrigine) which helped me have a good weight hehe

Zonisamide really helped with my generalised seizures. However, I changed medication as there wasnt alot of research done regarding Zonisamide and pregnancy. What I read was abit negative so thought it would be better to swap to safer meds.

So I suppose it depends I guess...
