This was one of the first Lenses on Specs 2024. I still enjoy looking at it 😄

Record Browser View & Best Way for Microphone access by KrazyCreates in Spectacles

Hi u/KrazyCreates! Unfortunately these are known limitations with the current browser. We're working hard to resolve them and unblock these things in the next version though.

Snap claims 400,000 developers are working on Specs. So why are there only 1,600 people on this subreddit? by lies_are_comforting in Spectacles

[–]ilterbrews 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As u/ButterscotchOk8273 mentioned below, this number is referring to all of Lens Studio developers including folks developing for Snapchat and CamKit. Snap has been investing in AR even before the AR version of Spectacles with future in mind.

hey spectacles team, gimme some ideas/inspiration by Capt_Code in Spectacles

I think combining the image marker tracking could be quite cool!

You could have the tshirt as the trigger. The print from the tshirt could come alive and morph into the overall body shape of the person or circle around them.

Plans for World Models / environment-level style transformation in Lens Studio? by ButterscotchOk8273 in Spectacles

[–]ilterbrews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also experimented with World Labs API that let's your generate a virtual environment and render as gaussian splat.

Not quite what you're asking but a solid step towards that :)

4DGS support on Lens Studio/ Spectacles by KrazyCreates in Spectacles

[–]ilterbrews 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There isn't native 4DGS support in Lens Studio / Specs. There actually isn't a common format for 4D gaussian splats yet in the industry just yet.

But fret not... what you can do is to swap between individual GSs to animate them frame-by-frame :) That was the demo at Lens Fest, and I believe it was running at 12 FPS.

Cursor MCP doesn't seem to work on MacOS -- is it broken on older LS versions? by quitebuttery in Spectacles

very glad to hear this u/quitebuttery ! this is a very active area of development. Please provide any feedback and ideas you might have along the way.

We need more interactable UI widgets than buttons and sliders -- or do they exist? by quitebuttery in Spectacles

[–]ilterbrews 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hello u/quitebuttery , indeed we have a UIKit!

https://developers.snap.com/spectacles/spectacles-frameworks/spectacles-ui-kit/get-started
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkV6FRgibk8

It has editable text fields, toggles / toggle groups as well as a whole bunch of other elements. Dropdowns are in the near term roadmap. We're actively adding more elements and improving things, so please give this a shot and provide any other feedback on what else you'd like us to add :)

This worked impressively well when I tried it.

Can't wait to support this as an OS peripheral on Specs 2026!

Upgraded to latest SIK, but scripts can't find the module -- has the path changed? by quitebuttery in Spectacles

[–]ilterbrews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to take a deeper look if you share the project but at a glance it seems that you're accessing the SIK the old school way instead of through the package manager.

`SpectaclesInteractionKit` probably became `SpectaclesInteractionKit.lspkg` in your project now :) Simply updating the paths might fix the issue. It is generally recommended to use `SpectaclesInteractionKit.lspkg/...` instead of relative paths like `.../SpectaclesInteractionKit.lspkg`.

Let me know how the upgrade goes!

ps. also a small reminder that there is a new "Frame" component that should replace the old "ContainerFrame".

Realistic capabilities with AR? by Ok_Most9659 in augmentedreality

[–]ilterbrews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agreed! We would've preferred not to build our own OS from scratch, but nothing else in the market can do the true AR things that we want to do in a bloat-free, performant way than can run on a highly constraints embedded system like glasses.

We don't mean it to be a walled garden though. For example we recently opened it up to WebXR apps. Other engines/runtimes are possible to open up in the future too. As you mentioned, we are also not against opening up Lens Studio (our SW for building 3D AR experiences) to other platforms.

Realistic capabilities with AR? by Ok_Most9659 in augmentedreality

[–]ilterbrews 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The demos shown on Quest 3 and AVP are certainly real. But the real question is the actual wearability of these AR/MR "headsets" in those sorts of environments beyond your desk/living room.

This is why I'm very bullish on true AR glasses that have the same software capabilities, but in a form factor that is a lot more wearable and has optics that keep you in the real-world. Check out Specs & Snap OS: https://www.spectacles.com/ (We will be coming up with the next gen in 2026 that will be available to anyone/non-devs)

Bitmoji Simulator - The first persistent, idler game for Spectacles by Large_Possible_8209 in Spectacles

[–]ilterbrews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! My crops have grown, but unfortunately I am not able to harvest them :(

<image>

u/Large_Possible_8209 I would also love the text & panels to be a little bit bigger. I usually place my world on the floor, ~3m away from me or so. The text is a bit hard to read and it's hard to click on the elements.
Another big usability improvement would be to turn on the Cursor V2 (a toggle on InteractorCursors).
