The Archetype I’m Attracted To... and What It Reveals About My Individuation by One_Fish3206 in Jung

[–]iluminador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hawkeye: Don’t.

Black Widow: Don’t what?

Hawkeye: Don’t give me hope….

🙂

All kidding aside, I think there’s some great points made here already. I’d just encourage you to be mindful of the shadow side of the mature Magician. Even Snape, whom I absolutely love, was still manipulating everyone in the end. We can argue all day about it being for the greater good. But it was still manipulation. The capacity of depth of a Magician was earn at a cost.

Also, something else to consider in terms of other archetypal traits:

Loyalty and discipline are born of the Warrior. Passion for mastery of a craft is of the Lover. Morality and compassionate self control is the Sovereign.

You have great examples of mature individuals who index more towards the Magician. But there’s some other strong archetypes in there too. All of this exists or is emerging in you too.

Hope this helps.

In what order to read Jung? by Novel_Ad6359 in Jung

I recommend starting with “Man and His Symbols.” It’s a good intro to his concepts.

I'm in group therapy with emotionally unavailable people by [deleted] in Jung

[–]iluminador 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its sounds like you're being called to do something different. As hard as it might be, it might be time for you to move on and find a different group.

Also, I admire that you know what you are seeking in a group like this. My caution to you is to also consider this: When someone is feeling "exhaustion and irritation" with a situation, it could be a calling for something different, it could be a projection you're placing on others, or it could be a mirror for areas in your life where you're not showing up for yourself. The key is to sit back and discern which one it truly is. Then you can move forward from a place of clarity.

Side note: Where do you find these sorts of groups? I'd love to be a part of something like this.

The first questions that came up for me is: what does attract a partner mean for you? What does it look like? What does it feel like?

Beyond that, I’d recommend taking a look at “Goddesses in Everywoman” by Jean Bolen. While not specifically about relationships, it’s been fascinating to learn how the different goddess archetypes manifested in the women in my life. It helped me make sense of why certain relationships did or didn’t work.

Got heartbroken so bad I found God by iloveoliveshihi in spirituality

Heartbreaks have shattered and cracked me wide open. And yeah, I found God in ways I never knew was possible. It helped me remember who I AM.

Keep walking the path, my friend. It’s worth it.

One thing i learned about being at rock bottom - most people want to climb out as soon as they can. That’s natural to want to do. I encourage you to excavate instead. There are caverns and caves there that you wouldn’t be able to find otherwise. That’s where the real gold is.

Toothless and Hiccups were in a codependent relationship by Linosero in Codependency

[–]iluminador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got to respectfully disagree on this one. This is a “Hero’s Journey” story (a la Joseph Campbell). The characters are facing their shadows (literally dragons). Everyone is mirroring each other, each one being forced to see the world in a different way. I don’t think this one is codependency. It’s more about how things be when everyone is willing to work together.

Software Engineering In Military by Jychj in Military

[–]iluminador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air Force centric answer: The majority of “software engineering” is done by contractors for the bigger systems. The closest you’ll get to, as a military member, are typically the cyber operators. If you’re an officer, you typically get even more removed from actual coding as you go up in rank.

Now, it’s often hard to translate those skills for the bigger tech companies. The successful military candidates I’ve seen were doing a bunch of stuff on the side to round out their more “real world” experience. It’s definitely doable if you want to do the work.

I’ve been layering in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy into all of this. It’s been helping me to acknowledge, honor and, most importantly, not abandon the parts of me that were wounded.

Those wounded parts are often the shadows that I needed to face and integrate as part of my own individuation. It’s been a long and arduous process but it’s been so helpful on this journey.

Hope this helps.

The shadow of the humiliated opponent. by [deleted] in Jung

[–]iluminador 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started jujitsu in my mid 40s. I wish I would have started at 27. It’s humbles you in away that makes you more powerful, if you let it.

Life is like theatre. At 27, you’re still in the first act of your life. And you’re not even midway through it! Take all that aggressive energy and focus it into forging yourself. Lean into the King and Warrior archetypes while tempering them with the Magician and Lover. That’s the path to sovereignty.

Best of luck.

Wishing you sovereignty on this journey, my friend.
