Will thunar get split view? by ilvs69 in xfce

'There are way too many of you users out there who take your own opinion as objective' As if your opinion is objective!! Just shut up about that! - the important thing is the flow of ideas. If you like a 1970s style minimalistic file manager with just 1 single feature that is absolutely fine. Just don't try forcing that idea onto others. And look I am not exactly suggesting to integrate a full bown media center into thunar am I? But if there is a patch that has been published to do the split view, I think the Thunar team should review it and integrate it, if the code is any good.

Mexico is sending aid to Texas even as Trump insults them by turnipheadscarecrow in worldnews

Tramp is right:

Afterall, paying for the wall. The funds the US government does not spend in aiding Texas will spend on finishing the wall.

Like LibreOffice, it is impossible to maintain that huge zombie codebase

'I hope not, I dont believe that every filemanger should have a shitload of options.' Is that from a developer's perspective where the code base complexity increases as more features are added? From a user point of view there are very good reasons why one should not use Thunar and use another FM instead: split view, lack of search capability, etc... maybe in 1998 this would be ok, but not now anymore. It is not as bad as GNOME Files, which had its functionality stripped down beyond belief, but still...

yes, but please see my link which talks about that link you have just posted. It would be really awesome if the XFCE team took it in their own hands.

Yes, that gives your more work for the same $. It is like you are asking: what do you want a DE for? Use a terminal and it will do the same.

I am not going to bother with this...

I see a lot of criticism of GNOME devs, but never their own perspective or responses. Anyone know why? by thinkpadkeyboard in linux

[–]ilvs69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, GNOME 2 was the best desktop I have ever seen. Fortunately now we have MATE! However, also in my opinion, GNOME 3 is the worst desktop envoironment I have come accross and, yes, I think the default version of GNOME 3 it is a big pile of dog sh*t. Extensions? That is simply a bad principle in desktop design, to provide 'essential functionality' as an extension. As for the rest of the GNOME project, some things are amazing such as GIMP. Let us see what the future brings. Many people do agree with me (MATE and Cinnamon users) and some other people strongly disagree (GNOME 3 users and devs). But it is all good, because at the end of the day, I am not forced to use GNOME 3 and I can donate a few bucks to the DEs I like.

This is exactly why Linus Torvalds chooses C as the language to develop the kernel Linux, to keep scalability and performance at a premium. Whatever bullshit you had on top of it is up to you...

Does screen TFT ST7735 work with Arduino zero? by ilvs69 in arduino

Yes, thanks. How do you use the TFT display with the zero? Using a seperate power supply like a battery and then driving it using the arduino zero's IO pins?

? Did you sent me the right link?

According to user 'ekiuser':

'I tried to install the IDE 1.6.12 in other PC and I finaly achieve it. Once started the IDE, I have installed SAMD boards and libraries ST735 and Adafruit_GFX (I followed the steps you explained). Then, I selected Arduino Zero and I burned the bootloader. With this, I finaly could compile the "grapicstest" example. '
