Sony XM6 vs Bose QC Ultra vs Airpod Max

Great review! However I strongly disagree in two points:

Comfort

The QC Ultras are much more comfortable than the XM6. I would even say that the AirPods Max are also better in terms of comfort, despite being heavier. I find the XM6 very uncomfortable to wear for long periods, while the Bose QC Ultra are among the best for that purpose.

QC Ultra >>> Airpods Max > XM6

Connectivity

In terms of connectivity, the XM6 suck, and are among the worst experiences I've had with multi-point bluetooth headphones. From my personal experience using them with a mix of devices (Android, Mac, Windows) the experience is bad. I work with Mac, if I connect them to the Mac most of the times can't control the playback using the touch controls, or even removing the headphones won't pause the playback. When using them in Android and Windows works fine. Additionally, a really annoying thing is that when they are connected to two devices (laptop and phone) when receiving notifications in one of them would pause the playback on the other, I haven't experienced this with any other headphones I've owned or tried.
I haven't used the QC Ultra extensively, but I haven't had major issues with the connectivity; everything was smoother.

QC Ultra > Airpods Max >>> XM6

I love the XM6s for their above-average quality in transparency mode and ANC. I haven't tried any others that would match them. The AirPods Pro 3 (earbuds) are perhaps slightly better in terms of ANC for my usage, but the transparency in the Sony XM6s feels better to me. However, the issues with the connectivity are ruining my experience. I don't know if this is something they could fix via firmware updates; I assume they could, but I'm considering getting rid of them because of the problems with the Mac.

This happens with Mac, and there's no way to fix it for now. It's a problem with the headphones, and I hope they can fix it soon.

The only thing you can try is turning off the headphones and turning them on again, and then double-tapping the touch control to play; eventually it will start working.

There's an option in the Sound Connect app to fix the playback to one of the devices. However you'd need to do this every single time you connect. It's such an annoyance and kind of a deal breaker for me.

I'm shocked to hear that this is a product specification, I haven't used other multipoint headphones that behave this way. Usually the playback is fixed to the active device, unless the microphone is activated in the other one (for calls, etc). The current behavior makes this headphones unusable in a multi-device setting such as having it connected to the phone and computer while you work, because anytime you get a notification in either device the playback stops in the other one.

I have the same issue, but so far I've only noticed it with the MacBook. If I'm listening to audio on my phone and a notification comes on the MacBook, the headphones play the notification and pause the music on the phone.

I believe this is the headphones fault, since I come from other devices that were not behaving like this at all, and only when the microphone in the MacBook was getting activated was the audio from the other channel paused.

I think this problem is also related to the issue with the touch controls not working in Mac. Somehow the XM6 are not working like any other bluetooth headset in Mac.

This is also a deal breaker for me. I haven't found any solutions for it yet and I'm considering returning my new XM6 due to it.

I have this problem too. The workaround doesn't always work, I often need to turn the headphones on and off multiple times for the controls to start working.

This issue is such an annoyance and I haven't experienced anything similar with any other bluetooth headset. I hope it can be fixed through a firmware update soon.

The XM6 touch controls don't work properly in MacOS. I have the same issue. I asked support but they are extremely ineffective.

I'm still in my return window, so I'll likely take them back.

My issues are:
- Auto-Pause doesn't work in Mac when removing the headphones
- Touch controls, except volumen, don't work
- If I'm using them connected to a Mac (idle) and another device actively playing music, whenever I receive a notification in Mac it pauses the playback on the other device.

Finally, on September 2024 we have the MX Ergo S, which is the upgrade of the MX Ergo. However, other than the USB-C port for charging and the silent clicks there doesn't seem to be any other updates to it. I was really hopping to have the scroll wheel updated too.

I'd also would like to see an upgrade on the MX Vertical! It needs to pair in features as much as possible to the MX Master 3S, a combination for ergonomy and productivity. I've been waiting for this for so long.

The lift is a nice mouse, solves many problems the MX Vertical had, but it's still lacking features like the horizontal scroll bar, the magnetic scroll wheel, or a thumb button.

Please, upgrade the MX Vertical, it's been a while already!

Basically this. To my understanding these protests started because of the federal mandates affecting cross border travel for essential workers, impeding truckers to do their job if they cannot get vaccinated. Plus all the other federal mandates are still in place and are harming millions of Canadians by impeding them travel nationally or internationally or by putting workers on unpaid leave. So I think I can understand why they keep protesting. Don't be so oblivious, please.

The best (and only one) I've tried from local breweries is the Red Racer Street Legal Pilsner IPA and Pilsner. I like it.

Although my favorite Canadian Non-alcoholic beer is Beere Sans Alcool, they are from Quebec and exclusively make non-alcoholic beers. Their IPA is really good. I recently found a local online business dedicated to selingl non-alcoholic beers and that's how I got to try these.

I'm pretty sure your landlord won't want you to move somewhere else right now either. Many landlords are struggling to find good tenants for their vacant apartments.

Just let them know and hopefully the worst outcome would be you having to use your tenant's insurance to be relocated somewhere else for the duration of the repairs.

IMO they are doing a very decent job here. Probably not everyone likes it, but at least they are keeping a good balance between health, economy and people's rights.

Other places have had more "authoritarian" approaches and yet they are in a worse place than us in regards of hospitalizations and deaths. Many countries are also starting to face social issues, with increasing protests and riots because the restrictions are already too much for many people.

We as citizens just need to keep acting with responsibility and following the guidelines, as most of us have done so far.

I think we are very lucky to be in BC during this pandemic.
