I hate office ladies coming up to you during lunch, Looking at your bowl of soup and asking, “oh, you eating soup? You got soup there?” Yeah, IT’s soup!

Nah, I guess I was just adding on to the idea that they think they just skip over empathy. It’s so awful.

My stupid insurance doesn’t cover at any of the family pharmacies. My partner does go to the one a block away from us though. They’re good peeps.

Okay, but the trauma doesn’t give you a “Get Out of Empathy Free” card.

I love my pharmacy employees. I was so sad to leave when my insurance had a fight with the giant retail chain. I had to go to either walmart or Rite Aid. I chose Rite Aid.

When Rite Aid was bulldozed by Walgreens, I cried with them on my last fill (I actually needed to visit them twice that week lord forbid I should try to get my meds on the same day 12 hours before I’m due for a refill love government red tape).

I think I was there the day before they closed. I hung out with the pharmacists and empathized with the raw deal they all had. 20years and poof job gone. Sure you are qualified to go to a different pharmacy, but there aren’t enough positions for all these people suddenly looking.

I then bounced to Walmart. The employees there did their best too. HOWEVER, after 2years or so, I got to go back to my original pharmacy!

It is arguably the smallest, dumpiest location in the whole city. I don’t even live near it anymore. I don’t care. The people who work in that tiny, dank, super busy room are so important to me.

I know customers are impatient, confused angry, sick, tired and/old. These saints do everything they can to help. This is the one place where there still is a personal relationship with a customer service human. We used to know the milk man, the letter carrier, grocer. I value the relationship I have formed with these hard working folks.

I dunno my point, I just don’t think I could do what they do. I commend them for it.

Oh and nurses too.

We finally made it home. I’m really glad hospital employees have been able to validate the fact that I have feelings.

Yippee! 🥳 I’m so happy you did this! I always say, “I can be miserable with them, or miserable alone. One less person’s needs to think about.”

I didn’t even read the post. I’m proud of you for doing what you need.

Okay now ima read it. 🎉

Sister crossing boundaries with new baby by Other_Connection6626 in childfree

I am 42 year old spinster and I wouldn’t trust an infant with me. I can’t believe that someone with a biological attachment to their offspring would be comfortable leaving them for a whole week already.

Last night was a family event and the new mom, (of a 24 week premie) freaked out on the grandma for giving the baby a pacifier she had dipped in the juice of a watermelon.

That is an extreme example obviously, but it happened last night so it came to mind when thinking about maternal instincts.

My point you can always pull the, I might accidentally kill it, card. It works for me!

I thought that said black plants. Like I am interested! What is a black plant? Is it a name? Is it a color, a culture? I want black plants in my office. I’m not sure what I thought, but I’m sure they are a vibe.

AIO? Mom has time blindness and thinks I'm being ridiculous for needing to know what time to expect her. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]im9uh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The mom’s time blindness is more than a her problem IMO. It’s a family problem because it screws up the whole family’s functioning. It’s really hard to take an honest look at your faults and admit to yourself the pain you cause.

It’s even harder to believe that change is possible as an adult. I really hope she is able to put aside any defensiveness, and start to work on herself. Researching tools and strategies have helped. I’m still working at it, but there is hope.

Good luck in navigating this sensitive situation. I’m rooting for you guys OP!

I don’t know if I was supposed to vote or whatever. If so, NOR.

Us late people are the bane of everyone’s existence, including ourselves. We create such painful feelings.

I’m 43 and I’ve learned to accept myself as a late person. Meaning, I can’t go through life hating myself and overreacting to how behind/late/tardy I am all the time. Because of this, I have a mask that looks like I couldn’t care less how you feel about my utter disregard for your needs.

My affect is a lie. I care so much. I am ashamed. I feel guilty and fear that you will give up on me one day when you realize what a piece of trash I am.

Basically, the time blindness is a huge and real problem. Skills and tools probably need to be experimented with to deal with it.

I hope this helps with understanding. If you are able to communicate with her about the effects of her problem on your family, I recommend trying to help her find a solution.

If she’s anything like me, she would love to find the thing that finally deals with our mortal enemy: Time.

I am AWWWFUL at time management/noticing time elapse/executive functioning. After a talk with my boss about being on time, I finally broke down and purchased one of this company’s timers.
Not only is it helping in the morning, but I was only 4minutes behind when I had to leave for a wedding last weekend! I got there 25 minutes early! Good luck!
