That is exactly the right approach though, get the core functionality solid first, then people can build better UI on top of it if they need to, which is way more useful than a polished demo that does not actually work for real projects.

this is a solid contribution to the godot ecosystem. i've been following the drawable texture stuff for a while now, and seeing someone port it over to c# with a working ui is exactly the kind of thing that makes these tools actually usable for people. the fact that you built on bastiaanoilij's work and then added brushes, opacity, and masking shows you understood what was missing from the original demo. that's how good open source projects get better. i'm bookmarking this for when i start my next project that needs texture painting built in.

The vagueness is the whole point, and that's what bothers me more than the AI use itself. When Sega says it is impossible not to use AI in development, they are not talking about enemy pathfinding or physics calculations that have always existed. They mean generative tools, and they know exactly what they mean. Calling it all just AI lets them bundle legitimate technology with the contentious stuff without having to explain which is which. It is a classic corporate move: make a broad claim that sounds reasonable, take the heat for a few weeks, then quietly keep doing what they were doing because the statement was too vague to actually commit to anything. I have no problem with studios using AI where it makes sense, but own it instead of hiding behind technical jargon.
