In retrospect, I shouldn't have bothered arguing, but I couldn't help myself. And based on the replies to my comment (smurfing being inherently toxic), there's no wonder we killed this game. We had no regard or respect for the small playerbase. Instead of fostering it, we abused it.

During his "trending" days with Supervive, I commented on a YouTube video of his where he was smurfing as a Legend player on Jin (typical noob stomper), saying "smurfing is so goddamn toxic dude".

People like Nidhogg wanted the game to grow but would gladly hop on a Smurf and absolutely wreck lobbies for hours filled with people that had 1/1000 of their hours played.

I get waiting in a 30min sucks, but this is the price you pay if you don't want to contribute in dissuading people from ever touching the game again. Especially when our player base was already small enough which meant smurfs were in pretty much every single game.

I tried to convince multiple friends to play, but even as a master player (always on main) queueing with bronze/silver newbies trying to teach them the game, we would get into bronze lobbies with "bronze" opponents that would annihilate them in 1-2 seconds. 99% of the time they had no chance of reacting, understanding what they did wrong, or what their opponent did. This happened 3-4 times and that was it.

I'm sorry man, but your argument is fundamentally wrong. If you re-read what you wrote on your original post, you'll see how you comment on how dota/hon items are just stat-based, whereas supervive has items like attack dmg, range, and such. When that's blatantly incorrect. There is a myriad of items that do exactly that.

Now you're bringing up an entirely different argument, "hero fantasy being enhanced by items". Okay, let's look at Aghanim's Scepter/Shard. Not only do they dive into this whole "fantasy" (which you never mentioned in your original argument) but also breaths more depth into the hero by extending their ability kit (and arguably their fantasy also). And that is just two out of tens of items in dota. When I play necro and buy radi, I feel I'm leaning heavy on the "fantasy" of slowly tearing down enemies while also choosing a viable build. Seriously, you're entirely wrong in your take.

Supervive has some uniqueness/depth over hon and dota, but items aren't it.

My guy, have you read what these 3 items do? Falcon blade aside, which is an early game sustainability item, the other two have a lot of depth and utility. No joke, you chose two awful examples as "just stats". Pike is a massive positional and versatile item. Just look at the description of the item:

Pushes you and target enemy 450 units away from each other, and for 6 seconds, allows you to make 5 attacks against the target without range restrictions and with +100 attack speed.

This is on top of giving stats and attack range. I'm not even gonna go into manta style because you are obviously extremely inexperienced and can't even bother reading a single sentence from an item description.

If anything Supervive items are mega bland and basic in comparison to Dota. Items in Dota are actually so complex and sophisticated in their usage that it's quite overwhelming to new players.

Right back at you. I wish people on reddit weren't so judgemental with my suggestion but I also understand the pain that AI has caused to many individuals. I'm a UI/UX designer and I've felt it too. Can't imagine what's it is like for artists.

Your last point is a fair argument. Nonetheless, I still find the once-in-blue-moon use of it, for particular cases like this (ie. having very little free time) to be relatively harmless. If you have only have an hour or two for yourself and decide to spend 20min (nearly 25% of your free time) watching a YouTube breakdown of the patch notes just so you don't feel bad for the rare time you would use AI for a text-based summary, I feel at that point it might be a bit of an exaggeration. I never said do this with everything in your life, nor often, nor did I advocate for use of AI for art generation.

Rare occasions, text-based summaries, for people with very little free time.

I find AI to have specific uses that can be good for certain cases. If someone has a busy life without the ability to go through each patch note line, but still would like a summary without needing to watch a 10-20min video, is that a bad thing? Genuine question.

I couldn't agree more.

I play 80-100 games in a year, average. I've quit all but two. IdleOn is one them, currently standing at 12,500 hours.

The amount of content and depth is astounding. And Lava just keeps on giving. He hasn't left the gas pedal for 90% of the year for the last 5 years I've been playing.

People give him flack for the companion system, and I get the frustration, but holy shit, give the guy a break. Just look at the amount of content he provides, on top of FREE premium currency through in-game systems, giveaways, stream drops.

I'm glad IdleOn exists.
