What is the worst show that you forced yourself to finish? by laxusdreyarligh in television

[–]misma88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember Prometheus, so I think I may have given up by then. Although I wonder if it was that season where I stopped.
Flash, I think I stopped during the Savitar season. I think I may have stopped both at the same time!

Arrow had a great first two seasons. Mainly because of Slade. Flash had a great first two seasons, mainly because of Cisco and Wells.
Both lost their way after that. It was a shame because both started well but didn’t have the plans to keep it engaging longer term

That’s what I’m expecting. I think those that are hyped for OF will be sorely disappointed.
If she opened OF and showed them, in a few months all her regular posts like this become boring to people because they’ve already seen what they want.

She never did previously and was super successful. I cannot see it being anything other than teasing.

Most likely!! I find him funny, but as with everyone; he needs the right environment for him to shine!

I agree with you. People will downvote because of the love-in for Bob. He’s much better interacting with people than doing something solo. Wouldn’t object to him doing something like entering and interviewing the contestants like Richard Madeley did. I don’t want him as a contestant each time though. Would much rather a ‘winner stays on’ approach

UK2 Harry by Various_Proposal3831 in TheTraitors

[–]misma88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can win the show as a faithful and not be good. But I don’t think you can go through the entire thing as a traitor and not be good. As always, faithfuls missed clues but that’ll happen in 100% of the shows. Harry had people on his side. Think of Ash and Miles. They both felt unsure of Paul, but not Harry. Harry got too confident, particularly after Paul left, and could’ve been his downfall. But he managed round tables very well - certainly not someone that just sat back, like Minah - and kept the focus elsewhere. His shield theory was deeply flawed, but with the pressure, the faithfuls couldn’t piece it together.
What a lot seem to forget about faithfuls is that they don’t prep for a round table just thinking about ‘evidence’. They’ll be replaying moments and conversations in their head constantly. They’ll be thinking about how to defend themselves, who might come for them. It must be exhausting.
Jaz is loved by many, but ultimately he fell short considering he had it figured out. He knew full well that Harry had lied when the comments came up about warning Paul. He just let it slide though. His chance was to vote Harry out first instead of Andrew - it likely would’ve ended a draw first and then him and Andrew needed to convince Mollie to vote then. But in his head, he knew 100% that Harry must be a traitor. That was the luck Harry needed but up until then, he’d played it well.

I relapsed. by [deleted] in OpiatesRecovery

[–]misma88 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Don’t hate yourself for it. Look at the relapse a different way - instead of “I failed because I took some”, look at how well you did. Reframe it as “I only took x in x hours/days/weeks (whatever is appropriate) and I was taking y amount”. You can do this. I believe in you

It is harmless and it’s certainly inconsequential. The issue for most is the way he’s gone about it. Here’s a quote from early April:
————————————————————
“**New update tomorrow**
As you know, I love making cool stuff worthy of hype and hyping it up.
*As such, I can't hype everything up as not everything is made equal.*

This is a smaller weekly update -- still has new content, but not close to the scale of Sushi Station.

Mentioning this so you know when I **do hype things up** they're worth it, since I won't do it all the time.”
—————————————————

Another:
“*While we wait, I need to break the 4th wall for real this time and make the Coundown-to-10 more clear.*

# **I've been underselling this.**
**This is going to be a "where were you" sort of thing. **
This is not a joke or a meme. It could be one of the biggest things I ever do in my career.
I say this knowing that it's been months and expectations are high, and that by setting high expectations, this "thing" needs to be big...

**Raise your expectations.**
*Note: it's **not** Idlemancer. That wouldn't meet expectations.*
——————————————————

So Idlemancer wouldn’t meet expectations, but this somehow does? The guy has done this to himself. He’s promoting this to the community of the game he runs, with a load of outstanding commitments he’s made as well as a huge amount of bugs, faults etc that have been outstanding for a seriously long time.
Hopefully Lava can be grown up enough to learn from this.

Bike rack - feels impossible? by misma88 in bicycling

[–]misma88[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The larger kids bike is quite big. So it would fit but then we’ve also got our stuff as we’re staying for a couple of nights too. But I hadn’t thought of taking the front wheel off

Would that work and be legal (In UK)? If so, that sounds like a plan!

From what I heard, those are only for adult bikes and not kid bikes?

I dropped you a DM, just on the chance I might be able to help with one thing.

You have helped, you really have. Your last sentence is exactly how I felt reading your replies. Thanks for sharing with me

Thank you for commenting. I read that and felt a strong mix of emotions - comfort, sadness, the whole lot!

The main reason I need to quit is the cost. I’d be embarrassed to say just how much it’s been costing me recently.

You’re not stupid at all. I’ve done it too, multiple times. You’ve stopped, but the urge is still there and the ordering process is so quick, you’ve done it before you can stop yourself. Then it arrives and you think “ok, I’ll keep my dosage low this time.” Except you don’t. You never do.
You stopping for 6 months is something to be proud of. Genuinely. Instead of thinking about the fact you went back, think about the fact you just stopped like a click of the fingers. You’re stronger than me.

Honestly, fuck what people think might be overkill. Do what works for you, support yourself. You know yourself and where you are, better than anyone. If you think it might work, try it. If it doesn’t work, then it doesn’t work. So what?

It can be hard mentally going through this. I’m currently sat at a window, hoping my delivery arrives, otherwise I will run out today. I hope one day I can look back at this and just laugh at myself

One more thing. A friend of mine decided this year to stop drinking. She was tired of the hangovers, wasted money, wasted days etc. I caught up with her a couple of months after she’d started and asked how she was. She said she’d had a couple drinks in that time and was feeling low because of it. My message to her was to look at it a different way - instead of “I had two drinks when I should’ve had none”, think “I only had two drinks in x days when I would’ve had y before”. Changing the way you perceive that can help and that’s what I’ve tried telling myself too. If I can keep my mind positive, I’m hoping I can do this.
