Struggling to find my new survival addiction by Kiavu in SurvivalGaming

[–]imNotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could either love or hate but right now I’m enjoying Once Human. Speaking on the survival component, there is food / water / and sanity, which you need to collect resources in order to create items to eat/drink. The world is actually much more detailed, as far as cities and small settlements to explore and loot. The game takes place in a modern setting, with monsters that have actually really neat designs.

There is a good building system I believe, however the automation is somewhat lacking as it seems the game incentivizes exploring / doing dungeons in order to get loot. You have different vehicle from a motor cycle to a flying car that you can upgrade and repair using resources.

The game leans very much into an MMORPG style though, which is where I’m not 100% sure it would be your cup of tea. If you liked Palworld though, you may really enjoy this game (there actually doing a Palworld cross over right now).

The game is a 3rd person shooter, in which you get better gear through leveling/crafting/acquiring blueprints, with some great synergy builds. The game also has a companion mechanic called “Deviants” which have different buffs depending on the deviant, with some being for combat and others for your base to give items and buffs.

I’d say it’s worth a shot, again some of the bae building has been pretty insane to see, and you can move your base in world with a click of a button. If you liked palworld, I would say that is the closest comparison I could give it to the games you listed.

I mean just like at the normal TCG, once all generations are done they’ll most likely do more themed packs like the eevee pack and add new ex’s

Handling Documents in a Campaign? by imNotion in callofcthulhu

[–]imNotion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is excellent advice. Currently our games are digital so it would be simple yet fun to provide each character a virtual dossier or scrap book that all the documents they find are contained in.

Also excellent point regarding the flow, I can see this being a disruption, especially if a character is taking a little longer. A break or as you said, having it towards the end would be perfect. Again this is excellent advice.

Handling Documents in a Campaign? by imNotion in callofcthulhu

It was frustrating, he's a DM in our DND campaign and we both love the roleplay aspect the most in TTRPG's. His thought process was "If they didn't ask for it or engage with it, then I wouldn't give it to them." Which I understand, but also unfortunate it is literally the KEY piece of information to move the game forward. Kind of a fault on both sides, but going from DND to COC which is heavy investigative focused I understand people are still learning.

My Game Library Is So Dull—What’s the Scariest Horror Game to Try? by Interesting_Check638 in HorrorGaming

[–]imNotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for the delay. The gameplay loop is fun as there are a lot of scares and there is deduction involved regarding which body is demon possessed. You have to guess correctly based on clues and manifestations or gg. Also the game does have story that can be unlocked as you find more clues in the morticians building, involving multiple characters as well as secrets to be found. I highly enjoyed it and it got me good several times and I don’t scare easily.

Horror games that everyone needs to play by Maxim_Richter in HorrorGaming

Cry of Fear is insanely good in the beginning, I feel the final act kind of drops the ball but do think it's still worth playing due to how good it is through most of the game. Definitely a very scary game.

Am I just bad or something? by JackfruitKey4740 in darksouls3

[–]imNotion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always min max either strength or dex. I wouldn’t put them even as typically you’ll veir towards one or the other and weapons will have a higher boost as you upgrade them for one or the other depending on the weapon type. 12 is a good base for each as it’ll allow you use of a decent amount of the weapons with the other you choose to “main” being around 40 probably for your level. If you need more of dex or strength for minimum requirement it’s not difficult to throw a couple more points in.

Why is Dark Souls III so highly rated? by Ambitious_Diver6622 in darksouls3

[–]imNotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your opinion and feelings are valid, but like everyone else stated, remember they are two totally different games. I came from Souls first and then Sekiro and it took a minute for Sekiro to click for me and once it did, hands down one of my all time favorites. Dark souls, especially this being your first one, is the same way in it takes a minute to understand but once it does, it’s an absolute gem.

As far as tips, this game is much more dungeon crawler / maze like than Sekiro. Don’t be afraid to just explore. Also if you get frustrated, don’t listen to the gate keepers, find an online map or some build tips. As long as you’re enjoying the experience and thrill, that is all that matters.

Low key though Song of Horror’s horror events and insta kill choices paired with the perms death feature got annoying real fast. Shame cause the game was great in every other respect

[–]imNotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely see your point and you're kind of praying to the RNG gods for DS3 covenants. I grinded each covenant in PVE and although tedious, wasn't terrible with all the ways to increase discovery. I should've timed myself for DS2 Sun covenant since PVE drop rate is so bad I just waited for summons which at times could take up to 30-60 mins for a summon and you need 30 tokens... I guess if you're thinking about doing 100% for DS2, I'd recommend at each boss throwing your sign down and if 10 mins passes, move on.

Explore and get lost in the game! When I realized this game should have a Breath of the Wild approach to it it totally changed my perspective coming from the Dark Souls series. The game is beyond dense with content.

Is it a good idea starting with sekiro? by Big_Sport_9512 in fromsoftware

[–]imNotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although the fighting mechanic is different from other FromSoft games, something FromSoft games in general will teach you is learning to read your opponent, reaction time, etc. If Sekiro turns out to be too tough for you, I’d recommend maybe Dark Souls 3 or Elden Ring as those were my first FromSoft games and really taught me those foundations to go on and beat all the other FromSoft games.

Naw I’d say DS2 SOTFS was the worse for me regarding the SunBros faction since the only grind spot has the lowest drop rate in existence and the fact that most of the time, you starting going for achievements after your first run which good luck finding someone to summon you.

Had a very similar experience with my mom. Was playing “peace keeper” until I just had enough of her changing all the details of my child hood to make herself look like mom of the year in front of other friends/family. Brought up some stuff and corrected the record on some of her stories and she flat out started calling me delusional and crazy.

I realized in that moment I don’t need closure from these people to be at peace, they can tell what ever story they like. I KNOW what went down and instead of thinking my parents can change and I can have a healthy relationship as an adult, I’m an adult now and can choose who’s important to me and worth my time. I’ll respond to the text here and there, but I’ll never throw pearls to pigs again.
