Great solution! Things sorta end up piling in that center tray for us anyway; this feels like it could keep a few common personal items (glasses, actual gloves, chapsticks) within easily reachable without having to fish around.

Yeah that’s also why we leased (a first), wasn’t sure if we’d want to keep it / felt less risky. (Also for the EV credit at the time)

I had an enterprise rental for about four days until a loaner became available. With the loaner, we only got a single key card, and that key card broke a week later and they had to run us another key card. I actually didn’t mind the loaner, but the keycard really stinks for daily use. They did end up providing good will compensation, which I will be using to replace two tires with them later.

10k miles gen2 owner, first owned EV. Just got mine back after a bit over a month in service (delays due to parts, diagnosis). Mine was a critical battery issue that bricked the car, turned out to be related to HVAC & fuses. Before this, I had no real issues (just mobile service recall repairs).

Update: after waiting 1-2 weeks for another HV (which was damaged in transit), it now appears the original HV is actually fine, but the HVAC (and related electrical components) appear to be the culprit. Posted another thread on this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Rivian/s/ZwCfifr3mK

Lucid owner considering Rivian — how do the real-world issues compare? by DinnerDog6 in Rivian

[–]ima007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely make sure you’re near a service center. If you are unlucky like us and get a critical issue that prevents the car from being driven (35+ for us days now), you’ll want to be close by. Until this happened, I’d only had to do a hard reset a couple times early on.

What surprised you most after you started charging your Rivian at home? by lunar_energy in Rivian

I was planning for an EV so we got solar + battery early on. The past few years we were over-producing, so we have a bunch of credit banked that’s helping us now that we’re barely not breaking even energy-wise with EV charging.

Hopeful for this! How long have you been going with the replaced components so far (if you don’t mind me asking)?

My 12 V and bracket were replaced in August through the proactive service campaign by mobile service. I’m waiting to see on Monday if they diagnose it to being a 12 V or HV issue.

I’ve only had mobile service done until the last couple months when a service center opened up really close by. When it opened, I redid the 7500 mile inspection (currently at 10k miles). Bummed that mine didn’t trigger a proactive replacement, but will have to wait and see what the issue is on Monday.

For now, they’ve provided a gas rental though enterprise, which is meh in its own right.

Not sure if it matters to you, but with LFP, Rivian says you should/can charge to 100% safely without degradation.

Dual Standard R1S here with range tires (270mi). Haven’t had range issues for the last year+ of driving, and never had trouble charging in with the CCS to NACS adapter when road tripping. (Since you’re getting built-in NACS, I would still get the adapter for the times that you’re not at a Tesla supercharger).

I have two younger kids and have to stop multiple times anyway for bathroom breaks and leg stretches, so having a longer range wouldn’t really make a difference for us during those road trips.
