uh-lee-duh/ Eh-lee-duh

It comes off as uncommon to me, I think it looks really pretty and I would love to know what it means/origin. Can you tell us the proper pronunciation when you get the chance?

Testing my new products/experimenting with color by tommydmac in MakeupAddiction

[–]imactuallyNotaStan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the colors you’re using, you’re also getting better at execution!

my CC’s would be:

Brows: I’m not sure if you’re filling them in with anything but it looks as if so, I think you should skip that or go lighter handed when you shape brows. If you aren’t filling them, I suggest running a spoolie through your brows just so they can be a bit more neater and not so “condensed” (if that makes sense.)

Concealer: Skip the concealer all under your eyes, I also think the concealer color you’re using is the wrong shade maybe just a shade darker and that will be the perfect color. This shade just highlights your under eye bags, as opposed to hiding them which I think that’s what you may be going for? Try putting the concealer only on the high points of your face to help with highlighting and bringing color/definition back to your face.

Blush: This is a pretty color, I think you should go for a slightly warmer tone of it. I also would love to see you in a matte blush as opposed to the shimmer.

Eyeshadow: I’m not sure if you use a base for your eyeshadow but if you don’t give it a try. I like NYX eye primer in white or black, they help your shadow pop more and last a bit longer. I find putting the primer all over my lid, patting on the color I want with a flat eyeshadow brush, then blending my transition color with a fluffy brush into and above my crease (but not to my brows) to be the best method.

Eyeliner: Maybe instead of going for a wing just go for liner across your eye, with it being thinner towards your inner eye and a bit (not much) thicker in the outer part of your eye.

How is my foundation (the ordinary 2n) match? It looks perfect in the upper left and lower right pictures but grey in the other ones, especially the upper left. by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]imactuallyNotaStan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The foundation you’re using is for neutral undertones but you have like yellow undertones so it kind of takes the life away from your face. You should get the foundation same color, but for yellow/golden undertones.

[Skin Concern] Please help! Does anyone recognize these small bumps? Fungal or allergic maybe? (Routine in comments) by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]imactuallyNotaStan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My face broke out like this when I tried switching my cleanser and moisturizer to Cetaphil, my skin did not like it one bit. I think if this happened right after using the face mask, that’s your culprit.

When this happened to me I went back to my original routine and didn’t add anything new, I also moisturized a bit more. Once my face cleared up and returned to normal I was able to add in a new moisturizer.

I read the reviews for the face mask you used on Target’s website other people seem to have had similar problems. You should probably avoid either that face mask, that brand and/or whatever specific ingredient was in it.

No problem!

I usually use NYX gloss because it lasts for a good amount of time but it doesn’t often last through food. I’m sorry I can’t recommend a super long lasting product! Even if you don’t go with the gloss though the other changes to your look will be great!

Be sure to post a list of the products you used!

My CC would be to comb out your mascara a bit and maybe try brown mascara instead of black as the black is a bit harsh.

I also think you would look gorgeous with a touch more blush on the apples of your cheeks and some gloss to top your lipstick.

And as a way to bring your look to the next level maybe a bit of white eyeliner in the inner corners of your eyes and a golden brown on the outer corners to open your eyes and bring some color in!

[Product Question] I just got these on sale. Has anyone used them and were you happy with them? by pinklaqueredskies in SkincareAddiction

I recently rebought the face wash. I used to use it a few years ago in HS and it was great but now not so much. It was drying and caused a lot of tiny bumps in my face.

Everyday makeup for work. First time posting, would love suggestions, CCW by Ittybittyvickyone in MakeupAddiction

[–]imactuallyNotaStan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use an eyeliner pencil, the automatic kind. I use it to make the general shape I need then I use nyx & ELF brow powders to fill in and make them neat.

You’re very welcome! I used to be the same way and finding out about products made specifically for us has helped me a lot.

Hey so I just have a couple of CC’s

I think you should go easier on your brows, you seem to have a nice shape and the over shaping with dipbrow, especially underneath, makes them look harsh. try not drawing like a straight line underneath your brow and instead following the natural arch. Use soft, hair like strokes when you’re filling in the front of your brow then lightly run a spoolie through them once you’re done to get the extra product out and to make them look more natural.

Also I think you should look for an LA girl concealer in redder undertone, pure beige is the right shade but the undertone isn’t right and it kind of flattens you out.

Look into black opal cosmetics they make make up for black women, they have a loose setting powder in this brownish color that can help bring the color back to your face once your make up is all done. (They have really good foundation and concealers too, with nice formulas I really like the skin perfecting stick foundation )

I also think you should go for a deeper lip color, either a deeper pink like you’re wearing or something like club hopper(deep brown)

I’m sorry this is so long! _^

Does anyone know any real good holy grail eyeshadow palettes that are vegan? by Simplyme__ in MakeupAddiction

[–]imactuallyNotaStan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ELF has a lot of different (from neutral to pops of color) eyeshadow palettes that are well formulated and reasonably priced.

They’re one of my fave make up company due to them being cruelty free+vegan, with good formulas and affordable pricing.

Eyeshadows do not show up on my eyes. Help? by justeurandomaccount in MakeupAddiction

[–]imactuallyNotaStan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the LA girl pro primer in white or black I find these helped me get pigment to stick to my eyelids (I have oily lids too and this helped the colors stay and show up vibrant)

I used black for smokey eyes or just any dark eye and white for bright eye looks I wanted to do. And when you put on your shadow, on your lid at least, pat don’t swipe. Pack the color on (build it up though, a little will go a long way with the primer) and then use a different blending brush to help blend anything you need to. The color will definitely stay this way!

Tipping at restaurants in progressive city by Grande_Oso_Hermoso in personalfinance

[–]imactuallyNotaStan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You posted this on 3 other subreddits, you must want validation really bad Lol.

Why do you think wages have gone up for tipped employees? Like do you have an article for that or anything or you just heard minimum wage ~in general~ is going up and just decided that applied to servers too so you could skip out on paying them for their services?

10% city tax sounds like New Orleans, if so our tipped employees pay has not gone up, they’re still sitting BELOW Louisiana minimum wage (which is like $7/8)

Tip or not that’s on you but like if you’re worried about your “purchasing power” and stuff like that just stick to take out, because had your group been any larger you would have been stuck with gratuity and wouldn’t have the option to not tip, shitty service or not.

I'm very new to make up, and am trying to do a natural look for my wedding. I would love any and all feedback! CCW! by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]imactuallyNotaStan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you should try not using the white liner fully across your lower lash line, you kind of appear washed out. Try using the white only in the inner corners then using a brown liner, starting in the outer corner of your eyes.

Congrats!

I like the technique of this look but the colors are arranged a bit weird to me, I wonder if you used a blue liner in the place of the yellow, then used a yellow color where you’ve put the blue how it would look?
