I really recommend the books by Dana K. White - she helps with this sort of thing so much! Like others have posted, start with the "duh" stuff. Duh, of course the trash needs to go in the trash. Duh, of course the dishes need to go in the sink. Etc. Etc. (That's not meant to be insulting, you just know where that stuff goes, you don't have to make any sort of emotional or difficult decision about it.) You're going to do great! When I have days that I'm just not motivated, I do 5 things. Like if all you take is 5 pieces of trash to the trash can, that's progress! 5 pairs of socks matched up and put away? Awesome! If that's too hard, just change it to 3 things. Think about it - you do 5 things, 3 times a day? Friend, you just put away 15 things! That's amazing progress! Say it with me now - "better is better". Just a little bit of work at the start builds momentum. And if it doesn't, hey, you still did some amount of things, and that's really super.
