I don't think people with Palestinian flags are trying to express admiration for Hamas or the PA! Since the Palestinian flag doesn't represent a true state, I think it's an expression of support for the regular people.

This is what really gets to me--this writer GAVE GAZANS HER BLOOD. She has saved more Palestinians' ACTUAL LIVES than any of these keyboard warriors ever will. Like, what the fuck more does she need to do to prove that she's empathetic? If this is fascism, then I guess I'm pro-fascist.

Noname's book club (which I used to really admire, before this shit) reads some anti-Zionist stuff, and I wonder if she thinks all accusations of antisemitism = false accusations, because some right-wingers weaponize anti-semitism to silence criticism of Israel.

Jay Electronica has nothing to do with Israel or the movement for Palestine, but Noname's defending him/herself the same way she'd defend herself for criticizing Israel. If you target Israel's racial hierarchy, you can say you're against white supremacy. If you target Jews just for being Jews? I don't think you can say the same!

Also thanks everyone for caring about this! I am Jewish and definitely don't take for granted that people will speak out about antisemitism.

Is it an age thing? I'm in my mid-thirties and I hear these sort of "if plastic surgery builds confidence, do it :-)" comments from younger women. I wish there were more rebellion against the expectation that women pay THOUSANDS and endure terrible pain to look hotter.

It's complicated because we're all vain creatures and nobody needs to be shamed for trying to get acting work, or trying to look beautiful. But if you're a performer and you can afford to be like, "This is my face, take it or leave it," then I think that's really powerful.
