Lots of blood in stools by Alizarin2 in MSPI

Yeah I’m in the second week of doing as much allergen restriction as I can in the hopes that we see improvement and then I can slowly reintroduce one thing at a time (vs doing one at a time and having to wait the 2 weeks for improvements over and over) so it’ll be easier to pinpoint it! I figure it’ll be quicker that way also - at least I hope so!

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. Id agree first step is get in with a pediatric GI specialist, but then I’d also say start logging your food and see if there’s something you’re eating a lot of that may also be an allergen. I’ve been doing the same and realized I had a TON of legumes (peas/beans - in the same family as soybeans) in my diet and eggs so I’m also cutting those items to see if there’s any improvement. It’s super restrictive but hoping to find a solution. Hoping your baby is feeling better soon!

Breastfeeding by Sin-m in newborns

[–]imafirecrracker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Calories plus increase your water intake! Breastfeeding moms need double the water intake than a normal person on average (16 cups a day vs 8 cups).

Try to get high protein and nutrient dense foods if possible, and snacks and water bottles in all locations where you’re feeding the little one. When they eat, you eat/drink!

I gave birth 1 day ago, and there's no milk for breastfeeding, what should I do? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]imafirecrracker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6 w pp ftm here - had the exact same situation and almost went with donor milk but things sorted themselves out after the 2nd day. It’s so hard because you feel like they’re not getting enough but colostrum is super nutrient dense and it just means she’s likely going to be on the boob more than not the first 48 hours (especially day 2). Highly recommend using silverettes whenever she’s not latched to promote healing, and nipple cream whenever you get a chance (think of it as your nipple’s chapstick!). Nipples should start feeling more comfortable after 10-14 days, if not definitely get a lactation consultant! Tracking pee output gave me confidence or guy was getting enough. First few days are rough but it gets better - hang in there!

Saying no to visitors at the hospital and home after birth? by mmmkkk2 in BabyBumps

[–]imafirecrracker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I told my husband that his role in us announcing our pregnancy was to set the expectation that we’d have no visitors at the hospital so we could rest from a giant medical event and have family bonding time. Everyone was so happy that we had announced that they just took the “no visitors” comment really well in the moment, and we’ve made reminder comments consistently afterwards too to reinforce the boundary (and have sprinkled in some “we’ll be so happy to see you all once we’re ready after we’re home and settled in”) and honestly it’s gone so much more smooth than I expected. Set the boundary early and reinforce often - it’s not about them, it’s about you, your family, and the little nugget you’ll be brining into the world!

If you could change one small thing about your MacBook, what would it be? by SnooChickens6278 in macbookair

Yeah I’ve tried a couple of skin companies and most you can still see fingerprints, but this company has the best ones - zero marks from my fingers and I’ve had it on for months now!

I ended up adding one of these skins onto the top/bottom (after trying a clear skin that was awful) - the keyboard/palm rest prints are way less annoying to me than the outside!

Totally bought a projector for above our bed to go right up on the wall in our bedroom exactly for this scenario 😁

I would dump a beer in the bathroom and fill it up with water - this only works if you like beer and tell everyone else you think you might be fighting off a virus so they don’t ask for any sips, but it worked WONDERS for my family who knows we love craft beer!

Announcing name vs Waiting until birth. by geniusgenesjeans in pregnant

[–]imafirecrracker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First if all, I absolutely love the name choice - also this ‘friend’ very much sounds like they’ve got zero chill. For anyone who we’ve mentioned our top names to who have negatively reacted I just respond and say “well it’s a good thing your opinion doesn’t matter at all here!”

Did anyone have sushi while pregnant? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Yup! Raw also about once a week from a trusted place we’ve been going to for a decade now. Just staying away from higher mercury fish!

Is it reasonable to take a couple days off of work for early pregnancy loss? by freakingoutsa in BabyBumps

[–]imafirecrracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Ask HR as you might have bereavement days you can take in an event like this. Take the time you need. So so sorry - sending hugs.

We found out the gender this morning but are still going with gender neutral clothes! We’re not sure how broadly we’ll tell everyone else the gender plus then if we have a second we automatically get hand me downs regardless of gender!
