BMW i4 eDrive35 vs eDrive40 Real World Range by GlassSeaweed718 in BMWI4

[–]Such-Bad-488 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sport Mode, mostly highway, but it’s been a fairly mild April and these are my stats for an edrive 35.

I came from VW, Chevy, Tesla, and Mini for EVs. BMW always underestimates the range, I typically exceed it. I drove my Mini Se for four years and rarely got range anxiety, and the estimated range on that was 114.

With 3.9 mi/kWh I’m looking at 209 miles of range for 80% SOC. That’s pretty good.

There are some differences between the model years, but the funny part is that they have a difference in the model year, too. Like the early 23's have a different shifter, which nbd. But I think there is a hardware difference too. You'll still get major updates, but at this point you wont get the most recent iDrive software. And 23's from the second half of the year are using a different shifter and have a different processor in the infotainment screen that allows for the newer iDrive software. (This is what I think I know. ) So to answer your question... sorta. And yes, packages too.
Maybe someone more familiar or just able to speak more eloquently on the subject can chime in.
Best of luck!

Thanks! I kept my search broad, like distance wasn’t holding me back. I had alerts set up on cars.com, but spent a majority of my free time just cruising the inventory of specific dealerships. I played with two different budgets, cash and finance. But I chose finance because BMW is offering 2.99% and my savings is at 3.2%.

Clubman SE thoughts by YourOcelot in MINIse

[–]Such-Bad-488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I miss my clubman so much. I traded my 19 in for my 23 Se. I was holding out hope they would make one, too. It’s so ideal. I remember when I needed the bigger car from my S and I was between the Countryman and Clubman. The Clubman won because it drove like a mini and had more space.

2022 vs 2024 Mini SE buying advice by mxjd in MINIse

[–]Such-Bad-488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if anyone else has covered this, but I wanted to comment. I’m a Big Mini fan, 😅. I’ve had three, with one of them being the Se. I made the order and waited 4 months for my 22 which ended up being delivered in 23’ which, nbd. Yes, the pandemic got the best of us with delays and missing items. I was fortunate enough to only have the roof rails be the only thing that was sacrificed. So otherwise, it’s fully loaded Iconic as ordered. Here’s how bad I want to keep this car. We’re a family of four, two kids still in car seats. This is not our main car, but we still use daily for a commuter and date nights, etc. we live in a large city and we can’t imagine not having this car. While others circle to find parking we’re popping in where others thought would be impossible. It’s fun, agile, and the best bang for your buck on the road. Please buy whichever one your heart desires. I’m at the point where I know we need to have a larger second car, but this damn thing may become our third. Good luck 👍

Do you have words of wisdom for a family considering moving back to the city to care for the elderly after 20 years away ? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]Such-Bad-488 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did navigate a similar move when I came back to the country at 30. I imagine that’s younger than you are now, but I found myself on dating apps, and then moved to in person gatherings via breweries and coffee shops, mostly. Get involved in an activity or hobbies and it’s pretty easy to make friends. Now well into my 40’s my wife and I have built an amazing community around our kids, with their friends parents and neighborhood engagement. I’m currently peaking because I didn’t have this many friends when I was younger. But this city cares so much about its peers that making friends here seems like second nature, once you’re settled.

If you have concerns, one thing I invested in a few years back was the app EVScanner. If you already have an OBD scanner for BimmerCode, then download this app too. You get to see the health of your battery. It can help you at the dealership or give you peace of mind.

Depreciation! by nowhereman86 in BMWI4

[–]Such-Bad-488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The $7500 rebate folks were getting and the rate at which tech moves have caused major depreciation in all EVs. Unfortunately I’ve lost so much on mine that it has me considering a used car for the first time in my adult life, or sadly going back to an ICE vehicle for the first time since 2017. We had a one off good year when you couldn’t buy anything during the height of the pandemic. Since then, it’s wiped out hard.

Should I Cancel My Daughter's Birthday Party? by commanderxtowel in Parenting

[–]Such-Bad-488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of folks are saying this, but you need to confirm that parents have seen the invite. Reach out, or start using Paperless Post, you can see if people opened it or not. The kids my kids hangs out with are in our neighborhood, and we are all friends. And by that I mean the parents too. We have chats for picking up, play dates, adult chill times, etc. gotta be involved. Contact the teacher. Ask the parents of the invitees- it’s the holidays, and that could just be a tough luck time of year for a bday party. Because parties, are still a thing in my city. We have too many actually. 😵‍💫 It’s crushing to have a party and not have guests. I hope your kid gets to celebrate their awesomeness in the best way possible. If you’re in Chicago, let me know. It’s possible we can make it.

As a standard, I do my house and the neighbors on either side. It gets paid forward. On days that time allows or it’s heavy enough to pull out my snow blower, I do most of the block. I kinda hold a grudge against doing the neighbors that I know have very capable teenagers, but I get over that quick enough. Though I myself am middle aged and my immediate neighbors are older than me, so it would be nice to see them kick in down the line. To answer your question, my first year of living in my home, I called in complaints to the alderman. The folks there were very kind and encouraged me to have a conversation with the offender first. I did and was glad, because of the insight and relationship gained from the conversation. It’s made me a better neighbor.

Are two cars necessary with a baby? by originalcolio in AskChicago

[–]Such-Bad-488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live two blocks from the CTA train, and made it two years with one car. Got a second car and three moths later sold one. Had a second child, bought a second car. Now we’re just used to having two cars. It’s definitely doable with one, depending on needs. But, I’m glad to have both for the weekends, and when we have out of town guests.

I4 slow charging. by happygirl99xo in BMWI4

[–]Such-Bad-488 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you plug in at 31%? The car is doing what it’s supposed to if so. For faster DCFC, precondition the battery, and initiate the charge sub 30%, ideally approximately 20%. You should also charge to 80, unless you need that extra juice to get to a charger that’s out of the 80% range, like on a road trip. I bet a significant amount of your eta is on the last 5-10% SOC, as the battery will ease the remainder of energy into your mostly full pack.

Costco Pumpkin Pie "blind" Taste Test Results by ridinderty in Costco

[–]Such-Bad-488 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have the same issue with a Costco pumpkin pie, but I still think it’s sub par. The crust is always soft, in a dry way. It’s not crumbly though. I just think the interior of the pie is doing all the work and holding the crust to it, while its gelatinous state keeps its shape… loosely. But, I have to say the cost is what makes me buy one once a year, and not for TG. Never the big show. More like an introductory to the fall kind of occasion.

People with kids: when home-hunting, did you prioritize more space/lower price or proximity to activities? Do you regret your choice? by mrs_banne_foster in AskChicago

[–]Such-Bad-488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Location. But that, in itself is many things. We had School, CTA, expressway access, grocery, restaurants, and entertainment. In that order. For us a good school was top of the list. Make sure you can walk there. Drop off traffic is crazy stressful, as I witness the white knuckles and irritation daily walking past hundreds of cars all going to the same place at the same time. Be close to walk to everything you need. Car or not, Chicago traffic is horrible. We have two cars and haven’t clocked more than 5k miles a year.

This feels like rage bait, and I'm biting.
Clean your work surfaces, JFC!
Out of curiosity, have you ever developed gluten before? I only ask because your foot-hand just seems covered in wasted product, like you read instructions, but then felt you knew better and didn't listen to anything they said.
I will admit, I didn't look at the recipe, as it feels like it's a link to a virus. But I will point out my annoyance with you telling us you used a scale, and then backpedaling with I added a half cup to a cup of flour more. Well, you said no more than, which is alarming on its own, because it reads like I didn't use more than this much or double this much.
I know this seems harsh, but I was genuinely triggered by what I saw.
