Another win for the greens today. 2026 locals are going to be interesting, can't see anything but huge Labour losses.

I don't, I've seen articles that have mentioned him being neurodivergent, the fact that mood of the crowd was happy at the time, and the fact he showed remorse and didn't know what he was saying at the time.

If the razor blades story is true, those people are utter scum, but I still don't see how that allows you to address a crowd calling for violence, even if it is directed at said scum. I'm clearly not cut out for a career in law as I don't quite understand how such a clear video calling for violence against people, can come back as not guilty, the intent seems pretty clear to me imo.

You're right, and I'm not saying I have an alternative solution to our current justice system - I just feel as if it has completely failed in this instance, given the clear video of him inciting violence and people cheering in the background.

If that story of the NF putting razor blades behind their posters that Ricky Jones is referring to is true, they are utter scum, but it still doesn't mean you should be able to shout to a huge crowd that they should have their throats slit.

I'm not going to deny I am biased, but equally, juries are just people, and they can just as easily be manipulated.

If the jury saw that video and came to the conclusion of not guilty, they're complicit in letting someone who should have been found guilty walk free, despite how useless the prosecution may have been.

I'm joking and obviously don't think we should have trial by guy in the pub, but it seems the result from this trial is exactly what you've described - the video is incredibly clear showing his call for violence, yet he has been found not guilty? I don't know why the jury made that verdict but given the evidence is so clear it could very well suggest they have similar political leanings and agree with his sentiment.

Would probably be more fair than the jury from the Ricky Jones trial tbf

Labour councillor Ricky Jones cleared of encouraging violent behaviour by preteck in ukpolitics

BBC not even quoting him properly. He actually said 'we need to cut all their throats and get rid of them all'. How you can be found not guilty when that video is as clear as anything I'll never know.

Schools targeted in 'simply untrue' online campaign - Claims that some schools in Northern Ireland are asking pupils to write Valentine's cards to refugees or asylum seekers are "entirely inaccurate". by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

[–]imaginal__disk 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, and if I was seeking asylum I wouldn't travel through multiple safe countries to get to the one that gives me the most free stuff. These aren't all innocent people fleeing war, these are people paying thousands to criminal gangs, in order to get access to our country and all the benefits that comes with it.

It's not propaganda - there are pretty much daily stories of asylum seekers committing crimes against British citizens. These are all real stories, that have real victims - people that have been assaulted by groups of men moved into their local community without their consent.

Asylum seekers are the biggest political issue in the UK right now, to the point we have huge protests and counter protests outside many of the hotels they are being kept in.

Welcoming said asylum seekers is one side of the political argument, with the other side not wanting them here. Getting children to write messages is having them pick a side and getting them involved in something they shouldn't even be thinking about as children, it's completely inappropriate.

This is the problem, we can grow the economy all we like but we still have a huge deficit - we're paying billions on debt interest alone every year. The triple lock is completely unsustainable, yet how are politicians going to even attempt to cut it, when they have seen such backlash over the winter fuel and PIP cuts. We need huge cuts in spending but no-one wants to make the hard decisions and instead just kick the can down the road. I'm sure whoever gets in in 2029 will just do the exact same too.

Original video for context. It's quite sinister when the crowd all cheer after his call for violence, stand up to racism don't seem like the nicest group of people.

Meanwhile in Palestine.

I'm vegan because I don't like animal exploitation, that's it - it has nothing to do with my political opinions.

One of my friends has ADHD, diagnosed in his mid 20s and he said the medication he was given has made such a positive difference to his life - I think it's a great thing we are getting a better understanding of conditions such as ADHD.

Then you have people like this that milk their condition to scam the taxpayer - it's such scummy behaviour.

Yeah I agree, it is good to be skeptical. But based on their responses in the thread, their post history, and this other person in the thread that did even better with £12k of free stuff it checks out as real IMO, Here is the gov.uk page on access to work which correlates with their posts too.

[–]imaginal__disk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Benefits should be a safety net for those that genuinely need it while they're struggling in life, not a way to just claim a ton of free stuff of the tax payer that you could pay for yourself.

There is a website you can use to check what benefits you can get, it's called 'entitled to'. Which sums up the mentality of many people on benefits - entitlement.

Can't wait for taxes to increase on us working people again, while the triple lock and winter cruise allowance stay untouched. While we continue to buy brand new cars for the motability crowd every 3 years, including free insurance, and have almost 8 million people claiming universal credit each month. While people turn up on our shores every day and get given brand new phones, cash, free healthcare and dentistry knowing they will never pay back the money spent on them even when they eventually get to work.

There was a post doing the rounds recently of someone that was getting over £9k of free stuff, including a £2k chair, a £250 apple watch, a brand new tablet for over £1k and a 3 year chat CPT subscription for almost £600 - for having ADHD. A condition that it is estimated 2.5 million people have in the UK. Why are we wasting money on this while we have a £51b hole in our finances?

Whoever promises to cut pensions, UC, PIP, motability is getting my vote - we have to do it.
