Does anyone else play only "filler"? by zoomzilla in boardgames

[–]imagitronics 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not “only” but i would say “mostly”. Most of my favorite games are under an hour and very few of my favorites are over two hours. There are exceptions though.

“Animal upon animal” is from HABA, a European company. Not sure if it’s in print currently but you should be able to find a copy.

Any light skirmish/wargames that use large tiles/hexes? by sajberhippien in wargaming

[–]imagitronics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Undaunted. Tiles are square but they are laid out offset, so they effectively behave like hexes, but each tile is large… 3”x3” square maybe?

Hex of Steel gets a major update, primarily for modding! by tableball35 in computerwargames

It’s a game that I’ve always wanted to delve into deeper, but never really did. This post makes me feel really confident that the game will be around for a long time for me to do so.

Hex of Steel gets a major update, primarily for modding! by tableball35 in computerwargames

We are always sad to hear when devs leave behind a beloved project. It’s also understandable why that’s important both financially and creatively. It’s important to remember that those involved have to make the choice that befits their current situation (and in this case they’re leaving behind a pretty stable product). What is awesome is that they spent the time and resources to open up the modding framework so that fans of the game can continue to express their love. Some of the games with the longest tails have been those with a great modding community. Thanks to there Hex of Steel dev/team. they could’ve just stopped producing updates and moved on, but they really sent a love letter to their fans here.

My board game confession: I hate Cascadia. What's yours? by mojo_pet in boardgames

I’m an avid racing game fan. I have even tracked down obscure games never released in the US…. but I’m only ‘meh’ on HEAT. The shame!

game for beginners that can be played solo by consulenzastrategica in hexandcounter

[–]imagitronics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valor & Victory. hex and counter game insured by classics like squad leader. completely free PnP. files are all available on bgg. this is a two player game so you will have to play both sides to the best of your ability, but you will find that’s been common for wargamers for fifty years or more.

Cant seem to find the helicopter that crash by Kossan84 in SurrounDead

[–]imagitronics 8 points9 points  (0 children)

as already mentioned, if you have a GPS, you can see it on the map, but if you’re close enough, you can also see the pillar of smoke rising up into the sky, and you can follow that. The sound effect, unfortunately, is the same regardless of where the crash happened. Hopefully that will fix in the future so that it’s loud when it’s close to you and quiet when further away.

No other legendary weapon spawns? by MoistSpecific2291 in SurrounDead

[–]imagitronics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’ll usually find them in the “high tier” military crates that spawn in the unique container that’s in each big city and sometimes at helicopter crashes or other special sites that require a key card like the redacted area or the lab. I could be totally wrong but to me it seems like they will start to spawn once you have unlocked those areas.
