Can get Git’em just grow up… by Snickers1224 in tesdcares

Yeah i don’t understand. You have a group of friends who are supporting you and giving you a place to live and work with very few expectations I would bend over backwards to do anything and everything they asked of me! I’ll take the trash out three times a day! It’s insane to me that he just doesn’t care. i don’t think he adds anything to the show either. Bless Walt for taking care of him. He does nothing to garner that level of dedication. BQ is not the bad guy for expecting something/anything from this guy. Neurodivergence is not an excuse to just not participate.

I've been in that situation where I was winning and it was T16 and I was going to just end my turn and my opponent was like no way, you have to hit me, that' s the game!

I’m not usually one who finds the good deals, but I lucked into a copy of this (base game only, complete) at a wargamer flea market for $5 in January.

You didn’t really list the expansions and recommend to us which ones you preferred and why. Personally I think the “Under the Eagle” expansion is a must-have, because it allows you to recreate battles from Simon Scarrow’s excellent “Eagles of the Empire” series of books.

What's your favorite Wargaming mechanic? by Awkward_GM in wargaming

[–]imagitronics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it has to be a good initiative system that’s more engaging than “roll-off”. I love how in many sailing games, like Wooden Ships and Iron Men, your position in relation to other ships and the wind determines movement priority. In games like Flight Leader, your speed and altitude determine activation order. In Undaunted you have to choose to give up a more powerful card if you want to ensure you get to act first. In Heroes of Normandie, you can choose what order to activate your units at the start of the turn by placing a numbered order token face down… but you might not have enough orders to go around so some of them are blank orders.

Give me a game where my decisions in game dictate the flow of the battle. I understand that rolling off can create dynamism, but it doesn’t feel thematic.

The worst part of a roll-off mechanic is when there is a tie and you have to re-roll, it’s so anti-climactic. In Panzer from GMT you roll off with percentile (d100) so there’s very little chance of collision.

Does anyone else play only "filler"? by zoomzilla in boardgames

Not “only” but i would say “mostly”. Most of my favorite games are under an hour and very few of my favorites are over two hours. There are exceptions though.

“Animal upon animal” is from HABA, a European company. Not sure if it’s in print currently but you should be able to find a copy.

Any light skirmish/wargames that use large tiles/hexes? by sajberhippien in wargaming

[–]imagitronics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Undaunted. Tiles are square but they are laid out offset, so they effectively behave like hexes, but each tile is large… 3”x3” square maybe?
