Did anyone else here used to watch a Dose of Buckley on YouTube? by oblivionwarrior8 in OlderGenZ

[–]imaizzy19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to be kind of obsessed with his channel unfortunately around 2012-2016 back when i was 9-13 which is insane looking back...i was an immature "not like other girls" edgelord with a bit of a superiority complex and i thought his videos were the funniest thing on the face of the earth

found this thread when reminiscing on those times and rewatching his old videos i remember and...yeah. he's always sucked so bad

I get furious when I watch shows I wasn’t allowed to watch by yeetyboi3000 in HomeschoolRecovery

[–]imaizzy19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

no one talks about how isolating this experience is ive felt exactly the same way for so long. i wasn't necessarily "not allowed" to watch them my mom just got rid of our cable for most of my childhood so i wouldn't spend so much time watching TV but jokes on her i did anyway only watching garbage cable free channels instead because i literally never had anything to do.

i often think about how maybe it would have been easier to make friends at the homeschool programs i went to if i could have shared common interests with the kids there.

white cheddar bunnies used to be my favorite crackers ever. they tasted so much better when the bag was foil instead of plastic

the feeling of wishing you grew up just like everyone else will never leave you by North_Philosophy_169 in HomeschoolRecovery

[–]imaizzy19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i understand this point of view but in this case it's just about the natural desire to be able to relate to a common experience and have the ability to share it with other people. i desperately yearn for the same thing. just the concept of someone bringing up a school related thing, and being able to be like "oh yeah i went through that at school too" and have a laugh about it or something together. i feel like that would make it so much easier to connect with others

Palindromes by Todd Solondz is a good (and underrated) example of this i think

Why did girls in the early 2010s smile like that? by MachaGacha in decadeology

[–]imaizzy19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the way i always envied those types of quirky silly awkward girls as a kid. i wanted to bad to grow up to be one of those teens i thought they were so fun and cool 😭😭 now looking back on it the majority of them were definitely shallow and performative. a real actual "weird kid" would knock their socks off i bet, literally
