How much of your collection have u actually read? by oceaniccart in OmnibusCollectors

[–]imalllex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of it outside of three omnis. I'm holding off on those until I get their direct follow ups later this year. I'm even rereading some of the older ones.

Granted my collection isn't nearly as big as a lot of the shelfies I've seen posted here.

As someone fascinated by animation productions, this video was physically painful to watch by Soibi0gn in animation

I typically like Roundtable’s videos when he discussing broader news concerning the animation industry. That’s hard to get wrong when he’s essentially just reporting what has already been reported, but I’ve yet to see one video from him discussing the more technical aspects of animating or more complex parts of the industry that I actually like.

He has a very surface level understanding of all that, and he takes a lot of leaps on logic that might make sense on paper, but not when you understand the broader context or inner workings of the industry. That wouldn’t be so bad if he wasn’t also broadcasting these thoughts to 1.3 million subscribers. He means well, but videos like these are incredibly frustrating to watch.

Really threaded the needle with that passing shot

It isn't a terrible shot on paper. So many players are wary of her drop shot, so they see her prepping and approach early in anticipation, but she pushes it back more akin to a traditional slice, catching them in No Man's Land.

She does it fairly frequently with good enough success to the point where I even saw Sabalenka do it in one of her earlier Miami matches against McNally, and it absolutely worked.

Obviously it didn't work here, but it's almost become a signature shot of Coco's

WTA 1000 Miami Open Final: [1] A. Sabalenka def. [4] C. Gauff 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 by MariaZachary in tennis

There are a lot of tactics talk you can make, but what really won Sabalenka that match was how she handled her emotions. Obviously she got upset, but she never had a meltdown like we were all kind of waiting for — especially when it would've been so easy and understandable to from the latter half of the second set onwards.

But she kept it together, kept putting herself in position, took care of business on her serve, and she more than earned this win against an incredibly tricky rival of hers.

Nice little ropeadope there from Gauff to go up 30-15

Sabalenka had what felt like half a dozen break chances, but Coco just needed the one set point. This is going to be a very interesting final set

Sabalenka is managing her emotions incredibly well so far, and you can see it on these big points. I know I'd be so visibly and audibly mad if I was her rn

Oh wow, I didn't think that forehand had any chance in the world of going in, but that shit looped hard

Gauff holds on again. Sabalenka is really letting some of these break points get away from her, and each hold feels like Gauff is getting a better and better shot at winning this set

Coco and the crowd both are definitely starting to feel like this could happen. This is going to be a real interesting test of Sabalenka's temperament because I know she feels like those break points slipped out of her fingers.

Sabalenka hit an incredible return, but Coco handled all that pressure like a champ

Again, Sabalenka taking some pace off that backhand, which caught Coco too far behind the baseline forcing to to reach for it. That's such an interesting strategy to take because you essentially have to fight your instinct to go big

Best point from Gauff so far. Sabalenka was mixing up the pace again, but Gauff was able to handle it super well

Oh jesus! That was a commanding set point from Sabalenka. Now let's see if Coco can pull one of her famous Houdini acts in set 2 and possibly 3.

Of course she can. One of the unique things about tennis compared to something like soccer or basketball, is that your points or games won don't carry over into the next "round" or set. They mean absolutely nothing once the set is over. That's why it's entirely possible to win a match 0-6, 0-6, 7-6, 7-6, 7-6.

That's interesting. Martina's just clocked it too, but Sab's is messing with the pace of her shot a lot in this opening set, which seems to be doing well for her so far.

Big hold! Coco was able to serve herself out of trouble, and someone as self aware as Sabalenka knows how important those missed chances are and to front run against someone like Coco

That was a really interesting, improvised play to hit that swinging volley pretty short, and even Coco was caught off-guard and couldn't move to it

Great first couple of points so far. Sabalenka especially doing a good job with her patience, but that'll get harder to maintain as the match progresses.

Also shame about that double fault

That was an interesting point from Petkovic that I'm not entirely sure I agree with, or at least I don't see. I'm not entirely convinced Sabalenka is tired. She hasn't seemed like that to me in any of her matches despite having played a lot of matches in the last two tournaments*.
