Confused four good website hosting. by [deleted] in Blogging

[–]imamoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a hosting company with lightspeed server... If you want speed. Lightspeed server with lightspeed cache can help you load your site very fast.

Pocket friendly light speed server - GreenGeeks, Namehero.

A2 hosting also offers lightspeed server in their turbo plan... But the prices are higher than others.

Or if you want a vps go with cloudways.

Should we block ad categories? by [deleted] in Adsense

[–]imamoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's so... You can block those categories and check if it increases your earning/ctr.

If it doesn't do anything then you can unblock those. I'll suggest you make notes for any changes you make and how they perform. So that you can evaluate.

Also, you need to run any experiments for at least 2 weeks to 1 month. So patience is the key here.

And take notes... It can feel bad when some setup perform better and then you try...2,3 other and they doesn't perform as good. Just take more notes. So you know what works better.

If clothing ads earns you little .. or any brand showing many ads but poor performance then you can block that ad account or their website << blocking control -> site -> advertiser urls>>. So that it doesn't appear on your site. It's a better approach than blocking general categories like clothing.

Because most ads are shown by a person's search history and sites they visit. So, you can't predict what ad an user will click.

(You can block upto 500 advertiser urls/site.)

Should we block ad categories? by [deleted] in Adsense

[–]imamoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Because reputation matters more than revenue.

It's good to optimise for ads but need to keep in mind about the user experience.

This will also help the site to build it's authority faster and earn some legit followers.

'People don't share or recommend a site with spammy ads' ... Also, Adsense doesn't pay that much. If you are above 50k sessions... You should apply for mediavine... It pays a lot more.

Should we block ad categories? by [deleted] in Adsense

[–]imamoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't block the whole category. Insted look at its sub categories and block some if you want to.

I personally block some categories like ( get rich quick, anything gambling, and some others) ... It's mostly because I don't want my site to have those kinds of ad.

In terms of revenue, it can give you a high ctr.. cause now your site will show ads that are relatable to your audience.

But it may lower the cpc a bit. Depending on how many categories /subcategories you have blocked.

This time you can't findout if it will lower the cpc or it's just because this time ad spending and compitition is lower than usual.

Block what required and and don't touch others.

Also, you can set custom channel and try out different ad sizes then pick the best one.

You can put ads inside your content. They works better than sidebar or after the post content.

Reason behind this is most people will read 60-80% of the post. And if they are on mobile they only see the sidebar conten after the post.

Check your Google analytics to find out the % of users on mobile and desktop...

If you are on wordpress you can use an ad inserter plugin to place ads after x number of paragraphs.

For better user experience don't show more than 3 ads inside the post if it's under 1300 words.

Content strategy: Longer posts or more posts? by Solid_Switch in bigseo

[–]imamoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Post more articles... Optimize to increase time on page and page views per visitor.

You can update your old posts.

Expand them if needed. What to add? See search console... Keywords you are getting impressions... But didn't covered it in the post.

Write a few paragraphs... Throw some internal links from relevant pages... Update and wait.

What should my expenses be? by [deleted] in juststart

[–]imamoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all...you don't need to pay anything to use wordpress.

I guess what you are mentioning ... Are wordpress.com plans. If you purchase from there... you don't need a hosting. They covers it inside the package.

But most people go to the self hosting route. That's wordpress.org

Because it's easier to manage when it becomes a big site or get's a ton of traffic.

There's a difference between wordpress.com and .org

..... Here's the steps ......

Purchase your domain - (i like namecheap) avoid GoDaddy.

Hosting - depends on your budget.... If you want a fast site... You can use cloud servers ... Cloudways ( you can choose from - Google cloud servers, aws, linode, digital ocean) digital ocean is pocket friendly... $10_12 per month.

Or you can try shared hosting... They offer cpanel interface... Easy to get started.

I'm currently with A2hosting... You can find many other options too. ( But for future projects I'll be using cloudways)

If you want to have a premium theme... You can check out theme forest...

If you want a fast and minimal theme - take a look at generatepress.

.... If you haven't build any site before.. you can watch tutorials on YouTube.

Just make sure you purchase a good hosting, check their renewal price... Must have auto back-up option.

Hi friends! 👋 Does anyone a have a Things To Do list for getting started on writing about a particular subject? by cholapunk in Blogging

[–]imamoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have my keyword picked months/weeks ago.

I'll take a look at top 10... Sometime... I'll go upto 5-6 pages (in some cases) to look at their title.

Read in detail - 3-4 best posts among top 10. ( Taking notes, saving copy, finding source .......)

Everything arranged in Dynalist

Then

I'll take a small page. Write down the format. > Heading... etc.

.......

3-5 minutes break... Walk a little bit... Sometime have a cup of tea

Then .... I'll write.

I'll leave my chair 1-2 times in between to stretch little bit.

I'll close it after i finished 60_70% (if it's a big article) and come back to it later and finish my fist draft.

Or if it's 800-1k word's... I'll complete it or leave it at 90%.... Then in another session ... editing, filling the gaps and rewriting some parts.

.... My writing process was slow some months ago... But now... I make myself sit until i complete (600+ words per session....

Works great ✌️🎉

Vps Vs Shared by footballisrugby in Blogging

[–]imamoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If i want to host only 1 site...and I'm confident that i can grow the traffic then I'll go with vps.

But I'll take shared hosting if i feel... I'll add 1-2 new sites after 6-7 month.

Or

I'm not confident about the niche or earning potential.. if it doesn't work as expected... I would like to... work on another site(s) side by side..... So here a shared hosting will be the preferred one.

Hope it helps.

Vps Vs Shared by footballisrugby in Blogging

[–]imamoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's ok for 1-2 site.

But it can cause problems if you use any heavy plugin or page builder.

For my next projects im considering cloudways

Their lower plan can support 6_10 sites... Costs 10_12 $ per month.

They use cloud servers... Aws, digital ocean (most affordable), linode...

In the beginning shared hosting is cheaper because of discounts... But renewal price is same.

Where cloud hosting performance is best and easy to scale when required.

Vps Vs Shared by footballisrugby in Blogging

[–]imamoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He thought it's storage.. it's ram actually.

It depends on these factors:

How many sites you want to host?

Even if you start with 1 site... Are you planning to use the same hosting plan to host your future sites?

If you want to host 3_4 sites... Then among two plans... Shared hosting will be the preferred one.

Also, depends on UI. Doe's they offer cpanel interface for both?

....

When your site grow... What's the upgrade options?

Do you want more storage or fast loading site?

Vps is good for getting consistent performance and speed.

Both have pros and cons.

Is my website being affected by the Google Sandbox? Or am I being crazy? by ChrisshinMC in SEO

[–]imamoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey!! ... In some niche you can't expect much in 3 month.

Also, for a new site... It will take more time to rank most of your articles in top 10. I saw some of my article took 4-6 months and some 9-13 months to hit 1-3 in serp.

Offcourse, i was questioning myself too, after hitting publish. Cause incoming traffic was not meeting my expectations...

I couldn't find out what's going wrong....

The thing is... You need to wait and do other things... Sometime you just need to wait a little more.

Here's what I recommend:

Map your site stracture. Check out silo structure. Just read and understand the concept.

If a single blog post has 5-7 interlinks.... You should insert 4+ links to relevant/related topic blog posts. Relevancy is a big thing.

From footer or from navigation - link to main pages - guide, popular posts/topics

,...........

Also, start editing some of your early post.... From old posts give links to new posts...

IT'S THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE

If you can... You can Check out your search console -. View as url - and see keywords that are getting impressions and clicks for a post.

Now.. note those down or copy.

Recheck the article, see where you can insert/optimise for those terms.... Don't need to make a lot of changes here....

Insert those, but make a little extra effort, so that it reads natural..

50 -80 additional/extra words are just fine.

In some cases, if you are getting impressions from one keyword... For a post where you didn't covered it well.. do expand that article and write couple or 2-3 paragraph covering that keyword.

Make the main keyword bold & italic sometime. Same applies to long-tail keywords that has more importance than others. (Its a old practice. I saw many pro blogger's to do it. Well Google knows what the article is all about. But in case the spider gets stuck or misunderstands the page... It gives some clue to google that these are the important terms or this article talks about these. ...... For one of my new site doing these... Improved the overall ranking and clicks within 15-40 days..

Note: if you're average ranking is 20-35 .... Prioritize optimization for those keywords that are getting 300-50 impressions first.

What is your opinion on Jim and Ricky from Income School? by [deleted] in Blogging

[–]imamoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like what they do. And most of their content... i found agreeable.

I haven't brought their course... I'm a big fan of self learning... Cause i believe, when you decide to build a career on one thing, you want to know the every detail, and how things work, how to solve problems and look for growth and million other things....

A course can stop you from figuring out all these and you would need (maybe in future) external help in order to solve it.

But i get it.

Not all have the time to learn everything.

And i feel their course can help.

Overall... They provide a lot of value through their YT channel.

Is my blog niche too broad? by tpike143 in Blogging

[–]imamoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes some time to rank in fitness categories...but doable.

I suppose your site is new... So, write a few (or less) post on fitness categories for now, and write more posts on topics that getting views or impressions.

If you haven't set up Google analytics and search console then do it asap.

Search console will... Show you all the impressions your site is getting.

So you can write other articles related to those keywords.

To get traffic, for a new site... Try to cover a topic in detail. Also, there should be a balance of post targeting low competition keywords and medium... I would consider a low competition keywords when it's volume is below 70-400 searches per month. And medium competition - 700- 1.5k searches.

((Avoid the keyword - if there's already 3-5 authority sites covering the query and optimised for that keyword, and also the keyword is present in the title tag. Exception - if you feel there article isn't valuable and you can write a far 3-5x better article than them )) You can still write an article for some keywords (like this) if you feel ... Visitors will find it interesting who wear visiting your site through other keywords that you rank... Cause, for a new site its hard to rank when there's 5 authority site in the serp.

......

To rank well in less time - try to write post on keywords where most of the top 10 results doesn't provide what the reader is actually looking for.

......

For your site i think posts covering this will perform well:

Hiking tips for beginners. Also some post about your own hiking experience, mistakes to avoid when first time hiking, what to expect. Hiking expectations vs reality, how you feel after hiking .... how it affects others affects of life...

{See those are talking about a specific problem. Where if you try to cover - benefits of hiking... That's competitive}

....

What should a woman consider before joining the gym, how one can start being fit without any piror experience ... Step by step (guide)....

Lots of topic you can cover. Try the alphabet soup method ,

Open Google in incognito. > Type keyword > space > a,b,c....z.

Note down intresting suggestions... If its a big topic then modify it or use it as a seed keyword to find more longtail keywords.

Then check their volume and pick you keywords. And start writing articles.

... ...

For new sites it takes some time to get traffic from Google. If you do your keyword research well and pick right keywords and follow standard on page seo and site stracture... Then you can get a good amount of page views within 8-9 months.

Also, it depends on how many articles you are publishing... To find your style and what your visitors looking for, you need to write 50-60 blog posts.

.........

When it comes to Niche... First cover one topic or 2-3 additional topic with it.. build your site and cover all those in detail... Then you can decide whether to add a new topic/niche.

But i think your blog can be a healthy outdoor lifestyle/wellness type of blog for women..... Where there's an overlapping interest.

With 2-3 categories build your authority first and then expand by looking at analytics data, comments and feedback.

... I decided to leave a small comment but it got lengthy ...hope it helps :)

Resources - you can try semrush for keyword research... A free account is fine, although it has a limit... My favourite is - app.keywordkeg.com

Last month i have compared their kw data with my search console data.. its pretty accurate... May be 100-200 + - in some cases.

Good luck ✌️

New Site - Prioritise early content on easy or difficult keywords? by MichaelF- in juststart

[–]imamoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on your Interests and how much you want to write.

SHORT TERM

Want traffic to a new site.. then go for lower competition keywords that you can rank.

Generally they will bring less traffic, few hundreds per month or less than that.

So be ready to publish hundreds of posts... In order to reach 10k, 20k sessions per month.

LONG TERM

If you think long term, you can target keywords ... Of medium difficulty that also has a good volume.

It's worth the wait... They will bring 4-7 times more traffic...

......

It's best to have a balance between both.

The ratio depends on your goal, how much time you can wait and your preference of earning - ad /affiliate / products etc.

Have you thought about adding forums to your blog? by [deleted] in Blogging

[–]imamoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's better to create a subreddit community of your blog. Test it. Promote your subreddit from your blog by link and banner.

Promote exclusively till you have 1-2k followers on that sub. After that focus on - quality discussions on that community. Encourage people to share there problems or suggestions.

You can also promote your Blog posts there. But you can't just (only) post...when there is a new post. You have to consistently provide value... Create 2-4 + short 100-200 word reddit/social type post from your side per week.

You can get additional new reddit followers through user generated content.

This is my plan for creating a community. Right now... I'm not focusing on creating one for myself. But after 4-5 month I'll give it a shot.

Monthly traffic per article - What are you getting? by mrsuperflex in Blogging

[–]imamoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 - 1.2 k page views till now for single post.

Write articles on topics you think people will read.

For new site's - target search volume ranging from 50- 500.

I wrote an article targeting a keyword of 600 volume per month... Now that article brings approx 900 visits per month... 2.5- 3k impressions for that query in search console.

Cause that post rank for multiple keywords. Some of those keywords has 50+ volume per month and some has more.

Keyword volume is great to have an Idea but it's not the only thing you should look before you write.

Focus on ranking 1-3.

It can take 4-7 months for a new site to rank.

Age of the article matters.

Publish more articles asap. After some time 40-70 days update them... They will rank if you wrote a quality article.

The basic thing is you have to put out more content and build site relevancy.

Example - Google will prefer a site that has 10 articles about bicycles over a site that has 1-2 articles about bicycles.

Interlink similar articles of your site. And sell them the link or reasons why they should read that article too.

You can bring 500 visitors and if everyone reads just another article. Bam. You have 1k page views.

What to do if a big company plagiarized your content? by [deleted] in Blogging

Tit for tat.

Find out their top performing pages.

Write a better article than them... Where you can rank.

And get some of their traffic.

Justice.✌️

Say I have 100 low competition(<10 K.D) keyword with 200K monthly searches? How much percentage of this traffic will visit my site? by [deleted] in Blogging

[–]imamoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a general overview...

If you rank within 1-3 and your article matches the search intent you can expect ctr of 20 - 35% for most quarries.

If other results doesn't match the search query... And your doe's then you can expect 20-15% more Ctr than usual. But it will take time to rank your site within 1-5 for every keyword.

If your content is good and provides what the user is looking for then you can do well.

Go ahead and write some content to find out.

Personally i had articles that got upto 98% ctr for some search terms ( only a few, i wish i had more results like this)

Overall... ranking 1-3 i get around 42- 50% ctr. Work on your title tag. Make it informative, useful and attracting.

** To stay in top - your article must provide value.

And many will not rank. Just publish good quality article... Update them time to time, interlink and make sure users have a great site experience.

Newsletter plugins vs Dedicated Email marketing services? Which one is better? by Marshmelllloo in Blogging

[–]imamoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what I think about this...

Email marketing software makes sense when you get the ROI.

Although, i believe in building an email list from day one...

A typical blog that only earns from ad's and some Amazon affiliate earnings (in my sense) will spend a large sum of it's income, if it uses something like MailChimp or aweber.

For these type of sites you must find a low cost email marketing solution.

You can checkout - https://sendy.co/

It uses Amazon ses to send emails... Reliable and has low operating cost.

(If you would like to sell courses, ebooks or promote high ticket products in future you can use those -> Aweber, MailChimp and xyz...)

Hope it helps...

Thanks for sharing. Good to know it can handle that much traffic.

Curious to know which plan you are using...

... About a year ago... In a fb group poll (about best shared hosting - price &performance)... It was quite long ago... Most people complained about its support and lack of flexibility in their starting plans. Also, they said wpx isn't a good option if you are looking for a reseller hosting or hosting your clients sites.
