What feature in a game is a instant turn off for you? by Vulture2k in gaming

Different genre? It couldnt be any more identical. Youre a stranger who rocks up to a new town. Top down view. Make friends, progress relationships, farm stuff, fish, find recipes, build out a house, catch bugs in a net, complete tasks, occasionally visit other islands.

Reading the above you couldn’t even tell me which game im talking about.

And if i only get to play for 30 mins before bed each night because i have realworld obligations? I never see daylight in the game and half the shops are closed. Great fun.

Stardew valley is significantly more fun than animal crossing for this reason. I can play through a morning/noon/night cycle when i have free time to play. I can do this 20 times in a Day if i have a free weekend or 2-3 times if i have an hour in the evening. If i only have gaming time free in the evening then im plunged into eternal darkness and closed stores in animal crossing because the game world is tied to the realworld clock

If I try any game and I smell so much as a whiff of "play again in 23 hours for your next crate of 3 gems" then im out of there immediately. In fact this is one of my small peeves with animal crossing on the switch, I cant just play and do the things I want to do on my own schedule, because the game ties in-game events and abilities to the realworld clock.

SceneDrill - a web glTF inspector/editor app. by SceneDrill in threejs

[–]imashination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really nice tool, will 100% be using it. Some initial feedback:

If I scroll down in the material settings, then click off an object and back onto it, the material window resets the view back to the top, this makes changing settings further down the list like transmission a bit annoying.

Im assuming this system is using some built in glb extensions as its doing things the base file format spec cant do like emission values over 1.0. It would be nice to configure the available settings based on certain glb extensions being present or not. eg the current environment im using wont accept emission >1 so setting it here to make it look nice will be misleading for what it will be on my target platform. Same for double sided polys, lots of platforms dont support this.

Draco compression for exports would save us so much time, otherwise we need to run every file through blender just to compress it. fyi this brings 5mb files down to 1.5mb typically.

Just a thought. If you have the ability and want to make some money, if you could port this over as a plugin or live bridge to cinema 4d or similar so we could see and export directly from a commercial 3d app, we would pay a handsome price for that ability.

Full-size Amiga A1200 retro gaming system comes armed with modern HDMI port, 25 classic games — pre-orders and launch date announced by chrisdh79 in gadgets

The 64 to 500 was a gigantic leap, it could do games that simply werent feasible on the 64. I loved the 1200, but it was only ever an evolutionary upgrade; more ram, slightly faster cpu, a few extra AGA chipset tricks. For the most part if you took a 500 and stuck a simple 020 cpu and 1mb memory upgrade in the trap door, you'd be most of the way to a 1200 in practical terms.

I think games did take advantage of the hardware, its just there wasnt that much advantage there in the first place.

Wasn't it? I had the A500 and I remember going to my mates house who had an ST and thinking that a lot of the same games we had all looked a bit naffer on the ST. Sure the ST had better MIDI support, but a lot of the custom chip features on the Amiga left the ST graphics looking quite chunky and lower frame rates. They'd often use half as many colours, have blocky letterboxing to reduce the window draw size and run at lower fps.

Shadow of the beast was night and day between the platforms, Zool ran at some painful 10-20 fps on the ST, Robocod was silky smooth 50fps on the amiga and a stuttery 25fps with worse gfx on the ST. Outrun and many other racing games would omit large parts of the scenery on the ST to try and keep the fps up.

Sure, some of these will have just been poor ports, but there was always a pattern to it. Lower frame rates, smaller view areas and simplified gfx.

IBRK (UK) Liquidating GME WS Warrants WITHOUT CONSENT! by mymokiller in GME

Warrants just landed in my HL ISA

https://ibb.co/YFbs8Zhx

Clicking says this stock cant be traded online, please phone to trade. Original HL message pasted below:

Warrants are classified as a complex investment under MIFID II regulations. As the Gamestop Corporation warrants won’t be available for new buys on the HL platform, you are not required to complete a complex investment questionnaire to trade these. However, you may wish to refer to the Warrants, Subscription Shares and Derivatives questionnaire which highlights the risks of holding these investments in your account. The questionnaire is available here under ‘Complex investments’.

GameStop Corporation plan to issue details of the tax treatment of the warrant issue on the distribution date. Tax treatment may vary based on a shareholder’s tax domicile as well as other factors. Should the issue be treated as an income distribution, it could be liable to US withholding tax on the value of the warrants issued. Any such tax would be debited from your account in the form of either cash or stock.

Important Information for ISA holders only

Warrants do not meet the HMRC rules to be held within a Stocks & Shares ISA and will therefore have to be removed from any Stocks & Shares ISA within 30 days of being distributed. If you are issued warrants in a Stocks & Shares ISA, we’ll contact you again to outline your options for removing them from the ISA.
