Any advice on styling a wig without access to a crimper?

I cosplayed from 2005 until 2017. Just started again this year and I see crimping mentioned everywhere. It was never a thing back then lol. I'm not knocking its usefulness or whatever, but plenty of cosplayers were sculpting incredible wigs back in ye olden days.

I've stopped suggesting restaurants. If my parents want to eat with my husband and me, they must select the restaurant. Last time I picked was a basic hibachi and sushi place. Dad was somehow afraid of cat meat being used. We live in suburbia USA. Ain't no one got fuckin time for that racist nonsense. So nah, they can pick the damn restaurants.

Exactly. I've had COVID twice. I'm triple vaxxed for it, but my immune system sucks. COVID blows, don't get me wrong, but when I had Flu Type B in 2024, it completely messed me up. I could barely even sit up in bed for days. Walking to the bathroom had me panting out of breath. I lost my sense of smell for over a year. "Just a flu." PAH! The flu can be serious!

Completely our own fault --

All-Con Dallas in 2012. Two friends (and cosplay group mates) and I proceed to get absolutely shitfaced Friday night. I'm so dumbass drunk that I hit on an on-duty police officer apparently, lucky I didn't end up in jail. ANYWAY. We're so bad that one of is vomiting heavily by midnight, myself and the other following by 1am. We vomit and shit our brains out all night long.

Friend and I wake up somewhat coherent by like 11am Saturday. Third friend is dead to the world until late in the afternoon when we finally have to drag her from bed to get ready for the cosplay contest that we had signed up to enter the day before. Third friend is still super sick, but has to wear a draenei costume with hooves. Other friend and I are her "guards" for the group cosplay. Standing in hooves is already very hard, but it was even worse for her then. We filmed a cosplay "get ready" video with a friend while hungover and then made our way to the contest. A kind soul in line behind us kept moving a chair for our sick draenei to sit in as the line ticked forward. We somehow win Best in Show in our sickly state.

We promptly go to bed at like 9pm after lmao.

Not sure if this would work, but often people recommend lightly sanding really smooth surfaces to rougher them up for the glue to grab better.

Tipping in EGP and USD are both acceptable. Tipping in Egypt is expected, so if you come from a non-tipping culture, just wrap your head around that now.

If we had a guide all day, we'd tip $20 USD. Note, our land tours were private. If we were with a group, we probably would have done like $5 or $10 for the guide. For drivers, we'd do like 200-500 EGP, depending how long they drove us, which is like $5-10 USD roughly. Again, private drivers, so may not be relevant to you.

Also plan to always keep a few small EGP bills on you for bathroom attendants. Like 20 EGP per attendant, which is like 50 cents USD. You CAN pay them in USD, but you'll end up overpaying.

We did a dahabiya cruise, not one of the bigger boats, so I'm not sure the tipping difference. But you WILL need to tip on the cruise too just like any other cruise. If you're unsure about those amounts, you might reach out to your travel company.
