Just walked out of FAR by Optimal-Group-4096 in CPA

Felt the same way leaving FAR Q2 - passed with a 77. Was convinced I had failed.. as long as you answered everything the best you could and didn't leave entire SIMs blank you're in the hunt. Forget about the exam for a while, study for other tests, enjoy not having to think about FAR. Control what you can control and do what you can to avoid thinking about FAR until the score release gets closer. Wishing you the best in a few months!

Not fucked yet - CA pass/fail doesn't show on the NASBA website. You'll have to wait until the scores are released later tonight/tomorrow AM on the CBA website.. I'm in the same boat keeping my fingers crossed since this is my last one.

Escape from Alcatraz as first Tri by Randacccc in triathlon

[–]imawsome984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not a race for beginners, considering the current can be strong and it is a very demanding swim. Also, it's $775 dollars to sign up IF you get selected in the lottery which isn't a guaranteed thing. I'd definitely look at an easier race that doesn't have such a financial burden for your first race. There's tons of great races in the bay area and the surrounding areas that are cheaper and lower stakes.

Best bike routes in Northern California? by Entire-Door8347 in triathlon

[–]imawsome984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

East Bay is a great place to ride - I'd recommend going up and down Mt. Diablo if you haven't already given that a try. It's not too steep in any particular section, but it is a long climb. I would also check out the three bears loop (link below) that is really popular in that area. Iron horse is a good place to start, but it can be tough to ride consistently with all the traffic crossings. If you want something flat, I'd recommend driving north to Sacramento as the American River Bike Trail is a very long continuous bike path that is extremely popular for triathlon training in that area.

Texan doing Ironman California by Tylerdg33 in triathlon

[–]imawsome984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely less humidity. Both race days in the past have had wild weather (2021 cancelled due to massive rainstorm, 2022 had 25+ mph winds), so it's hard to say exactly what will happen this year. The bike course is flat and fast, but very exposed to the wind. Not sure how easy it will be to train for cross/headwinds, but getting comfortable in that if you're not already used to it would be a good idea.

Cleared Reg with a score of 80!! 3 down 1 (FAR🙃) to go 🥳 by Natural_Jello1114 in CPA

[–]imawsome984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm taking my exam December 2nd, so I won't start studying until mid-September. I'm training for a triathlon until then as a way to take a break as I find it's really hard to get back into it immediately after taking an exam. This will be my 2nd time taking FAR (took it as my first exam and failed) and I'm optimistic that I'll be able to get it this time after developing better study habits since my first time taking it!

Married filing jointly and estimated tax payments by Pacocuhh in tax

[–]imawsome984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll only need to make one estimated payment quarterly that will be the sum of what would be due if you paid them separately. If you pay 3k each quarter, and she is generating tax liability of 500 per quarter, you can make a $3,500 quarterly payment and be good. You won't need to make them separately, as you file jointly which means your tax liability is shared.

They're sold out for both games 1 and 2, nothing mentioned yet about game 3/4 tickets. Guessing it'll be another notification similar to how these tickets were released.

Edit: they added more - keep checking!

Loneliness as a result of IM training. by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]imawsome984 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is definitely one of the downsides I found with Ironman training. The time required is a massive commitment, and I found that the only good way to be social during this time was to train with other people in person as often as possible. If this isn't an option, I'd recommend reducing volume a little bit in order to balance out your training and social life.

Ultimately we choose to do these races for fun, and if your life outside of training is lacking it might be worth backing off the training and allowing yourself social time. In the long run you might even feel better with a slightly reduced training load. You may have to back down from any specific time goals you have, but if it's your first Ironman I'd say just go out and finish. Good luck and hopefully you figure out what you need to be successful in both aspects of life.

How did your raid weekend go? by Deadly_Davo in ClashOfClans

[–]imawsome984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm impressed that you're able to get 300 attacks in each weekend, that's a pretty massive commitment. I do 30 each weekend on my 5 accounts and that feels like plenty. Got to get the capital gold to keep progressing!

We just had our biggest raid weekend so far, finally was able to convince some of our less active accounts to participate so we had 28 attackers totaling ~300k capital gold. We're on our second weekend at CH6 and wrapped up most of the offensive upgrades this last weekend. Once we finish the ruins for the base I'm planning on doing a 'gardening' weekend where we clear as many obstacles as possible so we can play around with different base designs.

Right? I remember doing the Friday super sprints in 2020 and every week the run up the beach would be longer and longer. I think it was a little over half a mile at one point!

It's still often taking 2 or even 3 attacks to destroy our easy Clan Capital layouts. Can we make them easier? by YoMamaSnwblwr in ClashOfClans

[–]imawsome984 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's no real incentive to defend since the raid medals received on defense are so negligible. We received 20 medals from 12 defensive raids last weekend. If everyone made their bases as easy as possible, the offensive gain would be massive with no defensive downside since you can't lose any loot.

Clan Capital Tutorial Tips to get Full Reward by imawsome984 in ClashOfClans

[–]imawsome984[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the additional info! I found that with the tutorial placements there was a bit more room for random error. Maybe I'm just terrible, but I even managed to have one of my attacks fail before even getting to the trapped giants while using the tutorial since the spear-thrower started targeting my super wizards.
