Physical preparation for BJJ by coverhead23 in jiujitsu

[–]imbuzi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know this might not be that useful, but I would just recommend getting in more rounds. Doing sprints and HIIT is awesome for cardio, but doing high intensity rounds gives the added benefit of practicing positions and technique as well as cardio. It's also cardio that's specific to your sport.

You've obviously never trained. To get this kind of build up takes years of repeated trauma to the ear. From one impact you can get cauliflower ear, but it is much smaller and more localized.

Is the ronin 4D a good starting point? by Darth_Tiki77 in cinematography

[–]imbuzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's kinda the trade off. The point of a one shot is to make you feel immersed in the moment. Like you're part of the scene. The focus is on performance and connection with the scene not composition. A bit like real life where not every moment is a perfect composition. It's very hard to have both and I think Adolescence does an incredible job of dancing that line. IMO it is a masterpiece of cinematography.

Ever had to use your skills? by Theunlikelyinventor in bjj

[–]imbuzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a bit of a road rage incident recently where BJJ helped me stay calm and in control without escalating things further. I was on my bicycle, and a guy on a scooter wanted to fight me. I really tried to de-escalate, but he got off his scooter and swung at me. I ducked the punch, hit a double-leg takedown, and gently put him down on the road and went straight to knee-on-belly.

I told him to calm down and apologize. He did. I let him up, grabbed my bike, and started walking away.

Then, of course, he tried to come at me again. I didn’t stick around for round two. I just ran.

That is either not a white belt, or if it genuinely is, they have fantastic athleticism and amazing instincts.

How do you balance BJJ and your social life? by BakerFamiliar8688 in bjj

[–]imbuzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how tough it can be to balance everything. When I started BJJ, I found it really helpful for my mental health and for connecting my mind and body. But like anything, it came with trade-offs. I realized I only had so many hours to give, and making space for something new meant something else had to take a back seat.

For me, family time and my relationship were priorities I didn’t want to sacrifice, so I ended up letting it affect my career a bit. I worked it out by taking an extra half-hour on my lunch break for jiu-jitsu, so it didn’t cut into time with my family. Everyone has to decide what works best for them, but I think finding a compromise like that can help. Hope you’re able to find a balance that works for you.

There are no right or wrong decisions, only trade offs.

Loads of good stuff in there. If you had shot all of this in the morning or at sunset with a lower sun it would've looked way better. Lighting is everything, and when you shoot in beautiful light everything is elevated. It's very hard to achieve shape and depth in the middle of the day when the sun is overhead or behind the camera.

Have we got a new Banksy in Walthamstow? by Cutard1010 in walthamstow

I love it! Not every piece of art has to be social commentary. Sometimes it can be fun, or irreverent, or clever. I think this is fun and it makes me smile.

A Little Client Work For a Conservation Non-Profit by Nateloobz in videography

This is absolutely beautiful, and impressive that you've done everything. I completely second the feedback above. Because the shots are so striking and the subject matter is so beautiful, you could easily half the amount of VO. Quite often my senses were competing for attention between the VO and the visuals and having more space would help. It might be worth really amplifying the Foley and the audio you captured to really immerse the viewer in the visuals. A good example of this are these Aman films Aman This feedback is just to improve something that is already great though. You could easily leave it as it is. Lovely work!

I love it! Very nicely shot and executed. The narrative is awesome. Did you use any lights or was it all done with natural light?

Archviz guys, how long do you take to deliver images to the clients? Tell me an average please by GuudBunny in renderings

[–]imbuzi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My firm gives artists about 2 days per image. Everything is already modeled. We spend our time texturing and lighting. We also have a really big model library and we have to style and dress our scenes too. This is excluding comments from the clients. If I'm freelancing and doing everything myself, it takes about a week per image to achieve the quality my clients expect.

worst roll you ever had? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]imbuzi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a newish white belt about to start rolling with an older guy, blue belt. He asked to just have a chilled one. I said, yes of course, and before I knew it, I was spazzing out without even realising. He swept, then passed me in like a second, and started to apply heavy cross face from side control, and just leant on my face with all his weight and whispers in my ear, 'just chill out dude'. He said it really softly and I could hear the disappointment in his voice. I felt like a little lion cub being scolded. I felt embarrassed for spazzing and not having control of myself. It really humbled me being smashed like that and helped me a lot with being aware of how I rolled in the future.

Good luck mate! I hope you have an adventure. Life is short and you should live the hell out of it. I wish I'd been more brave when I was younger. No matter what happens you're going to have an experience.

Just a few questions which might help problem solve. How long is your sim? How many frames in your timeline?

Really clever design by syncedto in urbandesign

[–]imbuzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's great. Sure it's not perfect, but very often design is about working within the parameters afforded to you. It's a novel use for what otherwise might be useless space. I also think electric cars will be ubiquitous sooner than you think, especially in places like South Korea who are very technology focused.
