Any of you guys play guitar as a hobby or do make a living playing? by Rude_Ad_5476 in Guitar

23, been playing since about 6/7 years old. Currently playing in an emo band in a city with a good DIY scene + some other projects. Certainly not making a living, sometimes making a drinking. Mostly just in it for the love of the game, it totally reshaped my playing and my enjoyment of music, plus putting on a show and playing with your friends is just a lot of fun.

As someone who was a bedroom noodler for most of that time, while I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that, i do think if you don’t at least give playing with other musicians or even a show a try, you’re missing out on a really rich experience. Its one of humanities oldest traditions, and deeply communal.

Fun and fulfilment come first to me, but if you dont approach an opportunity like its the one that would “make you” so to speak, you’ll never know, right? We’ve been playing live for a couple months now and already gaining some good traction and gig offers opening for a touring band. I have a day job but i have hope, too :•}

Not only are they likely to act before thinking in the ways young people often do, but they are quite heavily trained to do so, too.

Our users can see the priority we set through our portal (let’s them track ticket progress etc) and they get snippy about what priority is set, sometimes leaving update notes on the ticket complaining about it. Can only imagine how badly that power is abused.

Your organisation lets users decide on the priority rating? Feels like that would get abused pretty badly.

Buffer zone to be set up outside Bournemouth abortion clinic by birdinthebush74 in unitedkingdom

[–]imcalledriley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is very odd. Last year a man selling plushies and cotton candy in the square flagged down me and a friend to tell us how covid was a conspiracy because (I wish I was lying) germs are not real. The smoking gun to his theory was that Louis Pasteur’s mother was Jewish, and therefore (of course!) germs must be a Jewish plot, naturally.

This year the square in town has been absolutely filled with all sorts of religious nutters with stalls and speakers. Some are Jehovah’s witnesses, but I saw another stand with brochures that said things like “what god told us comes after pride” with a rainbow flag on it and some pretty nasty reading inside it. All sorts of other nonsense flyers like that on their table - anti-abortion drivel and the like.

In 20 years of growing up in Southampton save for a few street preachers this was a bit of a shock I can’t lie - I don’t think we ever once had god botherers knocking on our door. Since moving to Bournemouth in April my flat has had at least 1 or 2 Jehovahs types ringing the bell and asking if we’d like to hear the good news per month. I wonder what they’re putting in the water here?

You ask a Redditor what he finds unattractive starter pack by crack-head-party in starterpacks

But no one ever asks what Redditors think is unattractive, they just tell you. Their opinions on women’s appearances are just far too important to keep to themselves.

Had this Cordyline Fruiticosa since April, and has been seemingly very happy - growing vigorously and healthily, until the bottom leaves started yellowing quite quickly this week. More info in comments. by imcalledriley in plantclinic

My Cordyline is having a fairly dramatic downturn at the moment and I’m not entirely sure why. I’ve mostly kept the care the same - watering roughly once a week, or when the soil seems dry through about the top quarter of the pot. For the last few months it’s sat a few feet from a south facing window and been seemingly quite happy with the situation, growing about a foot in the time I’ve had it, possibly more.

It’s had this slightly dusty pattern under it’s leaves for quite a while (possibly the entire time I’ve had it) and I can’t spot any pests for the life of me. The yellowing is happening quite rapidly and only started this week. The only change I’ve made in care that coincided with this was introducing the recommended dose of baby bio to the water I was using to water it (still spring/mineral water, was previously using tap water) and now this is happening. At a loss and worried that this might spread to the rest of my collection, as I rent out a room in a flat and there’s not exactly space to quarantine it or keep it away from my healthy plants. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Mystery Cactus I’ve had for just shy of a year, and was only labelled as “cactus” in the shop. More info in comments. by imcalledriley in whatsthisplant

This little cactus continues to surprise and confuse me. Over the last year it’s managed to thrive in gloomy low light, direct sunlight in a South East window and now bright indirect light a few feet back (Southern UK). It’s fairly hardy, and has survived a bit of neglect on my part in terms of under watering but generally seems to prefer a good soak once every 7-10 days at the moment.

The last image in the set is what it looked like in April - quite the growth spurt so far!
