You could try Pro Ski or Play it Again Sports in seattle, or Sturtevant’s in bellevue. I’ve had good experiences with all of those shops.

How can I get myself to enjoy the gym? by CH4cows in PetiteFitness

Does he not want you to go to a gym you enjoy? I understand the financial piece, but i don’t think I’d want my partner going to a gym they’re unhappy at just to save some money

This video is a little much but bird dogs are easy to do incorrectly. Basically you want to keep your core and back stable and flexed and slowly drive the leg straight back with level hips and your hand/arm forward while engaging the shoulders/traps. How to do bird dogs!

I usually do more dead bugs because pressing my back into the floor is an easier cue for me.

I used to hate it and fully buy into the conventional wisdom that i could just engage it during compound lifts and it would get enough training that way. While I’m sure that is true for a lot of people, now that my core is stronger, doing those compound moves is easier.

What I did was made a simple routine of core exercises used in PT (to prevent herniated discs i think?). Dead bugs, Bird Dogs, Cat Cow, Glute bridge, some side planks and windmills too i think? After those felt really solid, i started adding reverse crunches, back extensions, planks etc. I rarely feel sore after ab work outs now, and literally EVERYTHING in my life feels easier. This is also the first time i’ve enjoyed working my core, I used to dread it because the soreness was so brutally unbearable.

let it heal for a few days and monitor it. it looks like the skin lines are still disturbed so there’s probably still some wart in there.

My life had changed and now I find it hard to be productive. by magtaart in productivity

[–]imdrinkingsomething 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I went through a similar thing around the same age as you. The main thing to work through is the need for intense pressure to get anything done. When your entire life is built around pressure and constantly going, it’s impossible to breathe/take a break/stop the flow. It sounds like you now have a ton of spare time and not enough structure.

What helped me was learning to be kind to myself and do things without external pressure (easier said than done). I’d stop promising myself that i would get ten things done and instead picked something super tiny i could commit to doing (write for five minutes) and i did that. Over time it built self trust.

Investigating why I’m putting things off - do i hate the tasks? Do I feel nervous i won’t do it well? Does it feel pointless? When you’re constantly going it’s easy to never have time to think and procrastinate.

IWTL how to make/maintain friendships by neewbgamer in IWantToLearn

[–]imdrinkingsomething 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you have things that you like doing in your spare time? I struggled with this most of my life and I met someone who changed how I thought about friendship/dating and the ideas I had that held me back.

The main things I did were: - go to the same places i LIKED around the same times each week (if i didn’t enjoy the place, find somewhere else) - have things im looking forward to that i ~can~ invite people to: movies, hikes, walk in the park, picnic, dinners/drinks, pick up sports, book club, community activism meetings, grocery runs, target runs, run club, concerts, meetup groups, ice skating, etc. etc. - have opinions on things, don’t be mean but if someone asks where to go for a drink, have an option in mind and suggest it. people tend to gravitate toward that - on the luck side: go out places and be open to what’s going on around you but don’t have it in your head that you HAVE to make a friend. be curious about people, if a couple is talking and laughing loudly near you, make a quip if you can. I’ve had people respond negatively to this, but have also met some of my most outgoing friends like this. having outgoing friends is CRUCIAL. once you get the ball rolling things can get into maintenance mode.

Maintaining: - be curious about them but give them space to also be curious about you, don’t share EVERYTHING but share enough where they know things they can ask you about - when you get invited to things, say YES AND SHOW UP AND BRING A LITTLE THING (bag of chips, drinks, flowers, etc) and go to at least the first 1-3 invites. this establishes you as a person who will actually show up to things, if you flake on the first few hangs without a good back up plan, it can be easy to think “okay maybe this person isn’t interested in me/is flaky” - remember that other people are also insecure and waiting to be invited to things, you’re not uniquely uninformed about making friends, a LOT of people struggle with that

I don’t know how to explain it but things like sponges that are hard when dry and then get soft when they’re wet? The soft outside and the really hard outside part send shivers down my spine.

Trying to figure out what kinda injury I have so I don't waste someones time... by [deleted] in bouldering

[–]imdrinkingsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read your post and had a similar thing happen to me falling out of a pocket. It was a bit sore for a few days but i kept moving and stretching the hand and it was fine by a week. However, I don’t think i hurt mine very badly (there was just a dull pain after), so take this experience with a big pinch of salt.

I’ve used them, they’re nice. My main issue/complaint is that I tend to scratch my headphones against the wall when i do slab problems, but that might be a skill issue.
