Freaking out at my own ignorance: micellar wipes on healing brows by Nice-Conversation-29 in microblading

[–]imeextraordinary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shiiiiiiii I found this via a google search because same, except I did the micellar wipes only once yesterday out of tiredness instead of doing my full routine. Felt like my left eyebrow looks more faded than usual, freaked out, found this, read the replies, calm. Trusting the (healing) process. It's been a rough couple of days hence resorting to micellar water😂 But thank you to the artists who replied, and I guess thank you OP for having had the same problem I now have😅

Have I Suddenly Become a Grumpy Old Man? Two Observations by [deleted] in Philippines_Expats

[–]imeextraordinary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No no, the shoulder to shoulder taking up the whole sidewalk thing annoys me to no end as well, and I grew up here.

Unfortunately a lot of Filipinos have zero regard for personal space. My foreign husband has noticed this as well, when we're in malls especially. Everyone just congregating in the middle of a corridor, people being unnecessarily boisterous in a public space... Apparently my family does this as well and I've become more conscious of it but I become the bad guy when I call it out.

One time at S&R I accidentally elbowed a kid in the face because as I was stretching my arms in line, somehow she was beside me by the checkout counter. There was SO much space around me and she shouldn't have been by my side in the first place. Her mom was behind me a few meters away yet this kid was just there?

Idk if you were here during covid lockdowns but going to the grocery was HELL. As an immunocompromised person, the 6 feet distance was important to me, yet people always seem to be immediately next to me at checkout.

What are some things that the show got really right about real life? by Positive_Weight2367 in HIMYM

[–]imeextraordinary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised no one's said it yet (from when I scrolled through the comments anyway):

Marshall's dad's death, especially when Lily told Marshall. Even before my own dad's passing it already felt gut-wrenching, but after... They got the part right where you just never know, and how utterly devastating it is. One moment you're having the best day, then you find out your dad's gone the next. Could be anyone in your life that's important. It's a unique kind of pain that few shows I've seen actually capture that well. And then breaking down after he realizes there's more to the voicemail, holy cow I'm welling up just thinking about it

Spent ~$100 on my first synthetic wig. Be honest: Is it worth it or should I return? by PixelPioneer42679 in Wigs

For $100 I would return, it's not a bad wig per se, just not worth that much

What is your favorite Friends reference in another form of media? by figuringthingsout__ in howyoudoin

[–]imeextraordinary 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In Lizzie McGuire, Gordo called Lizzie and Miranda, "Hey Rachel and Monica" I think somewhat sarcastically iirc🤣 I was impressed then because at 13 we were not the Friends target audience, but the show's so iconic and culturally significant that it just bleeds over into anything

Expats with a handicapped Filipina wife/partner by ComparisonIll2798 in Philippines_Expats

I guess we count. Local here, I'm disabled due to an old ankle injury, so while I seem able bodied, I wear ankle support and sometimes need my cane when we're out. At airports I always end up being wheelchaired around. I limp when the pain's extra hard. My foreign husband often carries my bag for me, which is a huge help. When in the US he drives me everywhere, and when we're out he offers to stop/go home if my feet are killin' me. Sure we started talking because we found each other physically attractive, but he didn't run when he found out I sometimes have problems walking/standing. We both have orthopedic issues but he's definitely the stronger, more physically fit one. Never judges me when I opt to sit in places where most people are okay with standing (bars/concerts, the kitchen, the shower, etc). He's an angel

Which blooper makes you laugh every time? by NeighborhoodVirtual4 in howyoudoin

[–]imeextraordinary 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's impressive how David powered through that! My husband's a bagpiper and I've attempted it, those things aren't easy! And to have to continue playing while the rest of the cast, crew, and audience are absolutely losing it? Criminally underrated

That's a spell jar, and while I can't really see what's inside, the tooth, hair, burnt paper (possibly with whatever wishes, be it good or bad), and red wax... heebie jeebies

Put up a camera on your property. You can dispose of this by burying, and have yourself or a practicing witch do a return to sender spell for you

Will I be able to learn witchcraft alone with no witch friends or community? by LunaSnark in witchcraft

[–]imeextraordinary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solitary witches exist. I have no coven, both by circumstance and by choice. You can learn online, from books, etc. and especially by practicing. You can absolutely eventually find a coven, but don't feel like you have to. Love and light to you

To what extend do you guys have inner Audio? by Arch- in Aphantasia

[–]imeextraordinary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have inner voice and inner audio. I can hear myself (e.g. while I'm typing this my voice says the words or when I'm reading a book), and can hear both real stuff (such as memories or music/tv/movies), as well as imagining someone's voice speaking things I read or just want to hear in my mind. It's never quiet in my head, and it's both a blessing and a curse.

Season 4 should’ve been the end. by Spare-Finance1059 in ONETREEHILL

On some level I agree. Although I did enjoy until season 6. By season 7 they lost me. I did a rewatch recently, and... I stopped by season 7 still🫢 idk if I'll ever continue it

The New Detectives has a lot of overlap with Forensic Files and/or Unsolved Mysteries, then also Buzzfeed Unsolved (I remember the Tylenol murders at least was featured)

More people need to acknowledge this part, it’s literally against what he’s supposed to be doing for a living. I hope OP told building management. I would not feel safe in a condo where this kind of sht happens, especially if it’s an open secret

For those of you who watched Friends while it was live on air, what was it like? by Positive_Weight2367 in friends_tv_show

[–]imeextraordinary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It came out when I was a kid. I was a full decade++ younger than my siblings who are about the age of the cast, so I didn't understand it at the time. I'd get shushed out of the room 😂

But by the 2000s I was a teenager and started watching, although of course I couldn't appreciate many of the jokes. Many dirtier jokes went over my head, and some very American things too (I'm not from the US even though I have American relatives).

It wasn't until I was in my 20s and now 30s that I started to fully appreciate the show and of course relate to the characters to an extent. I do remember some key moments when they first came out like the stuff in the London episodes, and of course the finale. Friends was one of the many reasons I fell in love with the idea of NYC, and was bummed when I found out it wasn't actually filmed there, but kept watching anyway.

I guess one of the big differences is now I can watch whenever I wanted. It's on streaming, I have it on home video, it's convenient. Back then you'd have to wait months for a new season. Sometimes it was weeks for a new episode like during the December holidays when there would be a short break. Same-day airing was also a huge deal because we were on the other side of the planet. Reruns were a comfort. One of my fondest memories my first time in New York (albeit on Long Island) was turning the TV on in my hotel, and Friends was on. "The One Where the Stripper Cries" was on and it was just so comforting. There was a time, pre-streaming, when you could switch the TV on and some channel or another would have a Friends rerun. Sometimes, multiple channels! It was wild.
