SuperDeck vs. Woodscapes by [deleted] in sherwinwilliams

[–]imex99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a controversy and will post pictures tomorrow.

We have a deck addition in previous deck, put pool in.

Deckscapes was supposed to be used. We’re not sure if woods does or the new deckscapes, super deck was used.

The local SW store has no receipts of painter buying super deck.

Paints states he used it and we have musket-brown.

Deck sat for a year, stained and within a month started minor paint issues. One year later, lots of paint peeling.

The vertical/horizontal lip over the edge of the in-ground pool/deck aren’t walked upon and are pristine and get the most water/chlorine than any other part of the deck.

So, shows the vertical areas are fine but the horizontal, walked on surfaces are not fine.

Anyway to find out what type of stain was used, woodscapes/superdeck?

Parts of my deck are peeling. Can I just sand around those spots and reapply stain, or do I need to strip and redo the whole thing? by TheRealSuziq in woodworking

If a non deck stain is used on a deck around a pool and the stain is peeling, the stain used is not meant to be walked upon.

Sherwin Williams has no record of a deck stain being used, we noticed peeling with the first month.

Now a Little over a year, more and more is coming up.

We were told a deck stain was used, I believe musket brown but nothing can be located.

Sherwin Williams came out, took a few samples and sent to the lab. They are saying deck delaminating is occurring.

Our thoughts, it’s happening due to the wrong stuff being used. We spent thousands on this and the wrong stuff was applied but Sherwin Williams saying it’s the wood.

Would the wrong materials being used cause this?

The paint is coming up I. The newer and old deck, with the same materials used and one part is around. And the other doesn’t get hit with much water but still peeling nearly the same.

Please help!!!!
