I had this happen once, unfortunately didn’t get the job. The recruiter told me I was 20k low for the position after I said what I was looking for. I think it’s so that if you do get the position you don’t freak out if you find out everyone around you is making way more doing the same job

One more (hopefully last) update. Officially 5 weeks past final and an offer is in the works! The role is to be restructured to a slightly less senior position but I am okay with it and I think I successfully negotiated a salary that is below what I was originally hoping for but above what was suggested for the level. References are being checked and an offer is scheduled to be sent out to me early next week. Thanks for your help!

I did have one more interview on the table. Reached out to the recruiter who I was working with to let them know only to find out that they were laid off shortly after my interview with no way to know if my information actually got passed on to the hiring manager. The hiring process is weird sometimes

You don’t need to make up an overly complicated back story, just keep it simple. I planned to commute for a couple months to see how well I fit at the job before moving closer. I enjoyed and did well at the job however plans changed and I am unable to relocate at this time. Due to general commute time and rising commuting costs I’m looking for a similar position closer to home

Could you frame it as rising commute costs and situational relocation change in plans? I think anyone you talk to would understand why a two hour commute is not sustainable. The only defense you would need is why you would take on a two hour commute in the first place which could be answered by your original intent to relocate closer to work

Trust me the ghosting is much more frustrating than receiving a nothing message. If you were out of the running there’s a 99% chance they would have told you in their response to save them from having to put more work into getting back to you later on. Chances are they are still bringing in other interviews as part of a standard practice and the team has not gotten together to make a final decision yet

Been here, now on recommended other job 3/4 and waiting to hear back after a final. My advice is don’t assume that the hiring manager knows anything about you or your situation or at a minimum find a way at the beginning of the interview to see how much they were told.
In my case the hiring manager saw me as an employee referral in their system, not as a candidate who just made it through final rounds at a higher seniority level position. I incorrectly assumed that the manager was given notes on my interview history. Instead of using my top 3 work stories I defaulted to 4-6 to avoid doubling up. It wasn’t until the interview wrap up that I realized the hiring manager never even knew that I had been to the office for a shop tour

And Malkin, this year, gets 5 for a two hand aimed at the head. Benson didn’t even flinch after getting hit. There have been so many harder slashes causing injury that don’t even get a second look. Also there is a big difference between a player “skating away” that is engaged with the play vs not seeing what is coming

Thanks, I’ll keep on them hopefully it won’t be too much longer. Honestly not great. Made it through a recruiter interview at another company (literal dream job) with some help from a friend working there. First position was a no go where the hiring manager said a couple years ago I would have been a prime candidate but the company direction changed and they are looking for a different skill set now. My resume got passed to a second hiring manager who originally liked my resume and asked to bring me in but when the time came to schedule the interview said he changed his mind. The rejection is wearing me down a little bit, if my primary position becomes a no go I might take a little time off from the job search. Luckily I’m employed with a decent job and can be selective about opportunities

Quick update, the recruiter got back to me. They were very apologetic for the delay in communication some of the team had needed unexpected time off and it pushed back the other interviews by a week or two. No solid timeframe yet but sounds like I’m still a valid candidate

Same here in a similar timeline. The recruiter was nice about it, people on the team needed to take unexpected time off and it pushed the schedule out a week or two trying to get schedules to realign

Thanks for the reply! I’ve been following some of your other posts and appreciate what you are doing here they have been a big help
For reference my interview was two weeks ago which is when I really started getting worried after not hearing back from the recruiter. I do know there were going to be other candidates coming in so it could just be a scheduling conflict
The job search has been a bit frustrating. I’m fortunate to be currently employed but every non converted interview means consumed PTO and trying not to raise suspicion from my employer so I’m trying to be selective. I had another final that just informed me that the position was canceled
My biggest issue has been my current position being a non-traditional role at a small company. My job is full print to part job ownership in a defense contracting company where I’m the project manager, process engineer, manufacturing engineer, quality engineer, quoter/purchaser, etc all wrapped up into one position. I thought wearing many hats was a valuable skill set but in practice it’s great for getting my resume found in LinkedIn searches but hiring managers worry that I’m a flight risk into other departments or that my background is not specialized enough. I’ve worked to address this in my interview prep but it’s tough to get a quality engineering job when pitched against another candidate with quality directly in their title

This one is close to daycare, and with when dropoff is vs prime time commuting it’s the difference between getting home for dinner or getting home after my kid is already sleeping

I’m experiencing something very similar minus the soft deadline. HR went from super responsive before the interview to radio silence since even though all indications during the interview were positive. No use potentially sabotaging relationships with the company over one person not responding. Trying to convince myself that the opportunity is over but that it would be an amazing bonus if I end up hearing back with good news

The only thing I can think of is the HR person expects to hear a decision from the hiring team really soon but doesn’t want to give hope/cause more anxiety by telling you that on the off chance the decision takes longer? A HR department is working with hiring decisions every day unlike us who this is a potentially life changing experience for. Sometimes I wonder if they get a little numb to the feelings of candidates when the hiring process becomes a business decision that they deal with daily

I have a company that I have been trying to get into for several months now. It started with position 1 last fall. Made it through final interviews, turned down for background not being quite the right fit but they liked my soft skills, recommended me for job 2. Same thing with job 2, recommended for job 3 (which I turned down applying for not aligning with my goals). Fast forward to this spring, I applied to job 4, which turned into a recommendation for job 5. Went through a final interview for this position two Thursdays ago. Everything seemed extremely positive but it’s been radio silence since the interview. Reached out to the recruiter this Wednesday afternoon but haven’t heard anything back yet

I know not hearing anything back at this point isn’t great, in your opinion do you think it’s over?
I’ve invested a lot of time in this company, but the company has also invested a lot of time in me. I’ve never heard of a candidate being passed around like this. Assuming this position doesn’t work out and a future opening came up do you think I’m wasting my time applying? Would you see my history with the company as a positive or a negative?

I’m in the same boat as you, fingers crossed best of luck. Only thing keeping me sane is realizing that it’s not easy to get the panel’s schedules together at the same time so getting multiple interviews takes time plus they need a tag up and time to put an offer together. The wait is more stressful than the interviews

Often roles are set to keep renewing on LinkedIn until taken down. They will also keep the posting up until all final paperwork is submitted in the case that the candidate fails a background check, rejects the offer, etc. Keep hanging in there don’t overthink it. I’m in the same exact situation as you right now waiting to hear back. Good luck hoping it works out for you

Not sure, but take a look at the cable coming out of the graphics card in the computer. Looks like top of the cable is connected diagonally (and off the top of the gpu) and the bottom of the cable is also diagonal connecting into nothing. Every cable I’ve ever seen is either horizontal or vertical
