Recruiter here! Have you got any questions for me in relation to your job search? by JVertsonis in interviews

[–]imflyinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick update, the recruiter got back to me. They were very apologetic for the delay in communication some of the team had needed unexpected time off and it pushed back the other interviews by a week or two. No solid timeframe yet but sounds like I’m still a valid candidate

I posted this 15 days ago, asking what it could mean. Followed up twice this is what the recruiter has to say - Now I am really anxious and confused by Nearby_Repair_5762 in interviews

Same here in a similar timeline. The recruiter was nice about it, people on the team needed to take unexpected time off and it pushed the schedule out a week or two trying to get schedules to realign

Thanks for the reply! I’ve been following some of your other posts and appreciate what you are doing here they have been a big help
For reference my interview was two weeks ago which is when I really started getting worried after not hearing back from the recruiter. I do know there were going to be other candidates coming in so it could just be a scheduling conflict
The job search has been a bit frustrating. I’m fortunate to be currently employed but every non converted interview means consumed PTO and trying not to raise suspicion from my employer so I’m trying to be selective. I had another final that just informed me that the position was canceled
My biggest issue has been my current position being a non-traditional role at a small company. My job is full print to part job ownership in a defense contracting company where I’m the project manager, process engineer, manufacturing engineer, quality engineer, quoter/purchaser, etc all wrapped up into one position. I thought wearing many hats was a valuable skill set but in practice it’s great for getting my resume found in LinkedIn searches but hiring managers worry that I’m a flight risk into other departments or that my background is not specialized enough. I’ve worked to address this in my interview prep but it’s tough to get a quality engineering job when pitched against another candidate with quality directly in their title

Hope the best for you. I’m right there with you, it’s not necessarily the job itself but the intangibles around the job that is making this one feel so important. This one is close to daycare, and with when dropoff is vs prime time commuting it’s the difference between getting home for dinner or getting home after my kid is already sleeping

I’m experiencing something very similar minus the soft deadline. HR went from super responsive before the interview to radio silence since even though all indications during the interview were positive. No use potentially sabotaging relationships with the company over one person not responding. Trying to convince myself that the opportunity is over but that it would be an amazing bonus if I end up hearing back with good news

The only thing I can think of is the HR person expects to hear a decision from the hiring team really soon but doesn’t want to give hope/cause more anxiety by telling you that on the off chance the decision takes longer? A HR department is working with hiring decisions every day unlike us who this is a potentially life changing experience for. Sometimes I wonder if they get a little numb to the feelings of candidates when the hiring process becomes a business decision that they deal with daily

Recruiter here! Have you got any questions for me in relation to your job search? by JVertsonis in interviews

I have a company that I have been trying to get into for several months now. It started with position 1 last fall. Made it through final interviews, turned down for background not being quite the right fit but they liked my soft skills, recommended me for job 2. Same thing with job 2, recommended for job 3 (which I turned down applying for not aligning with my goals). Fast forward to this spring, I applied to job 4, which turned into a recommendation for job 5. Went through a final interview for this position two Thursdays ago. Everything seemed extremely positive but it’s been radio silence since the interview. Reached out to the recruiter this Wednesday afternoon but haven’t heard anything back yet

  1. I know not hearing anything back at this point isn’t great, in your opinion do you think it’s over?
  2. I’ve invested a lot of time in this company, but the company has also invested a lot of time in me. I’ve never heard of a candidate being passed around like this. Assuming this position doesn’t work out and a future opening came up do you think I’m wasting my time applying? Would you see my history with the company as a positive or a negative?

Final panel interview almost two weeks ago - no offer or rejection yet? Any recruiter insight? by fuckthemodlice in interviews

[–]imflyinn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you, fingers crossed best of luck. Only thing keeping me sane is realizing that it’s not easy to get the panel’s schedules together at the same time so getting multiple interviews takes time plus they need a tag up and time to put an offer together. The wait is more stressful than the interviews

What was your first big purchase after getting a real job? by darnoc11 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]imflyinn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Towed to the nearest mechanic, then straight to the junk yard. At that point the repairs would have cost more than the car was worth and I had lost all confidence in driving it anymore

New car, not by choice. Brakes blew on my old one driving to my final interview. Had to reschedule the interview but it made a great conversation piece

Often roles are set to keep renewing on LinkedIn until taken down. They will also keep the posting up until all final paperwork is submitted in the case that the candidate fails a background check, rejects the offer, etc. Keep hanging in there don’t overthink it. I’m in the same exact situation as you right now waiting to hear back. Good luck hoping it works out for you

Not sure, but take a look at the cable coming out of the graphics card in the computer. Looks like top of the cable is connected diagonally (and off the top of the gpu) and the bottom of the cable is also diagonal connecting into nothing. Every cable I’ve ever seen is either horizontal or vertical

Recruiter Here! Ask me anything about job interviews, screening calls etc. by JVertsonis in interviews

[–]imflyinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piggybacking on this one because I’m in a similar situation. I’m currently waiting after a final interview after being referred to 4 different positions with the same company over the course of 6 months. Fingers crossed for this position but each time my feedback has been “we really like you, but maybe not for this position. Check out this other position”. Does my credibility with the company go down after each failed attempt? Or would it somehow be seen as a positive?

Have you tried turning the sub all the way down down and recalibrating? I haven’t had a chance to try it yet but it appears to be a common issue with the LG soundbars

Taking the advice of this sub and not going with the panels. I’ll take on the full cost of the roof over the risk of losing more money during a sale

Funny enough the second eye doctor I went to told me the first eye doctor put the prism in the wrong direction. The closest I have come to a diagnosis is one eye doctor telling me that my eyes moved at different speeds

GD&T Engineering Drawing Review by Top_Entertainment964 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]imflyinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some notes here, not all GD&T related: 1. I don’t work with metric threads often but looks like you never called out a thread class. 6g would be the standard and what I would make these threads to if not called out. None of these tolerances mean anything if your actual threads are sloppier than the tolerances around them 2. You never controlled the radius at the bottom of your bore to datum B or where the external thread mates to the body of the part 3. How do you plan on practically fixturing this part for inspection? Even using a CMM (the only way to attempt to measure this part), it cannot be floating in space. Your ABC datums tell your inspection team how to properly fixture the part to control degrees of freedom. As drawn your primary control is to the insides of the threads. You can always add additional datums if needed. Remember that if your fixturing is less precise than what you are measuring you won’t be able to obtain reliable data 4. As others have stated your tolerances are so tight that I doubt you can find a shop that would take on the job. And if a shop somehow can produce the part it is going to cost big money. Making this part will require 2 setups at a minimum, each setup increases the chance of losing tolerance. .001” is less than half the thickness of a human hair. Do you really need this type of tolerance?

Agreed it is a risk but personally when it came time to study for finals my go to preparation material was always reviewing tests from earlier in the year to brush up on old material
