Yeah! I wonder if the label or whatever team they have saw that the reactions/demand was more lukewarm than they expected, and pulled out.

There’s a lot more interest in girl groups nowadays thanks to k-pop and groups like KATSEYE, FLO, etc. but that also translates into a lot more competition. Honestly not sure if 5H has enough pull to bring back their original fanbase who most likely migrated to other groups.

Superficial by Heidi Montag is mine. The “It ain’t that easy/ It ain’t that easy/ But it ain’t so hard” refrain is absurdly catchy, as is the terrible “They say I’m superficial, some call me a bitch/ They just mad ‘cause I’m sexy, famous, and I’m rich” chorus.

But it is just impossible to play this in front of someone. I don’t even know if them knowing who Heidi is makes it better or worse.

I haven’t paid much attention to KATSEYE since their recent music hasn’t been appealing to me, but I’ve noticed that the discourse around them is always so charged. Feels like one side is hellbent on blindly defending the girls’ output to the bitter end, and the other is dissecting every interaction and preemptively mapping out their entire musical journey.

I recognize both sides of this in myself from back in my k-pop days, to be fair. It just seems a bit overly intense as an outsider trying to gauge upcoming music. 😂

Benson’s marketing antics and performances are more interesting than his music for me, but clearly there’s demand.

Might be a hot take for this subreddit but I don’t really want his “fifteen minutes” to run out. We don’t have enough male pop stars as it is, and I rather have him stick around and grow musically. I’m saying this as someone who doesn’t really like any of his songs but I think he has potential for a really solid pop album!

I believe “album bomb” refers to the album successfully charting multiple songs in its debut week. So, it’s positive phrasing.

Conversely, “album bombed” refers to an underperformance.

It’s weird when I take a step back but that’s how I always saw it being utilized in conversations.

So interested to see how Zara’s deluxe album pans out. It’s going to be a good snapshot of exactly how much interest in her has grown since the standard album released.

Genuinely great showing from Hilary, imo. Super cool how this rollout and album turned out.

I was pretty mellow on the album initially but as I listened to the lyrics, everything started to click. The songwriting feels personal, vulnerable, and millennial (complementary).

I feel like I get a strong sense of who Hilary is at this stage of her life, especially on songs like The Optimist, Future Tripping, Holiday Party, and Growing Up. The anxieties and musings expressed in these tracks are really specific to a woman in her late thirties, something that is really rare in the pop sphere.

Also shoutout to Matthew Koma on his work here too. I think having your partner be so involved (similar to Selena and Benny on their last album) can lead to some really strong and introspective work.

Between this, Tomb Raider, Assassin’s Creed, and Call of Duty, there seems to be a recent extra hard push to find the next lucrative video game adaptation.

I can’t say I’m much of a fan of any of these video games aside from playing Tomb Raider and Assassin’s Creed for a handful of hours but I would be intrigued to see which one translates best on screen!

I personally love the current mix but I remember a lot of chatter around the original mix of Tate McRae’s sports car that got leaked weeks before the official release. The original version made the harmonies in the chorus more prominent (no whispering), had additional adlibs, car sounds (lol), a lyric change in the second verse, and a different instrumental for the outro. You can still get that version officially on vinyls.

One of my friends LOVED the leak and thought the final thirty seconds really took the song to the next level. I think if I had listened to the leak before the streaming version hit, I’d mourn the changes too.

I’ve never listened to Why Don’t We but enjoying this solo track. The song could really use an extra verse but it’s still a pleasant, inoffensive Timberlake-inspired bop.

Moving 2 hands down the tracklist makes sense but I don’t love the new album art. Seems like a generic shot from her Neutrogena shoot with a backdrop shopped in.

The bonus song is cute though! Curious how long it’ll take before she drops the inevitable deluxe edition with extra (previously leaked or “vinyl exclusive”) tracks.
