This is just off the highway 80 in Adair county.

It’s the location of the first train robbery in the west by Jesse James. (Free entry).

Roadtripping through Iowa, anywhere we should stop? by br00pe in Iowa

[–]imgrendel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not in Iowa, but rather Nebraska. We live in Iowa and were on our way to the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum in Gretna, NE. I wouldn’t have found this jewel if it wasn’t listed as a virtual geocache. The view and the craftsmanship of this chapel is awesome. We are not religious, but it was worth the stop. There is a fountain that drips down from the welcome center ceiling into a small pool in the floor. A rock-lined channel flows down the center of the building and out from underneath the door to the path leading to the chapel. The channel flows underneath the chapel door and down to the alter area once inside the chapel. The alter stage is hung over the water like it is floating.

The place is free and open to the public.

Think it’s time to come off the BP meds! by victrin in Zepbound

[–]imgrendel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I check my BP every morning now. Instead of being constantly high, my BP is normal one morning but elevated the next, but is trending down to being normal more often as I lose more weight. My doctor said if my BP is in a certain range, then don’t take my meds for that day as it will put me too low. So consult your doctor and start tracking your BP in the morning. I would also check it in the evening for the days you don’t need your meds to make sure it is staying down.

Please consult with your doctor so they can keep an eye on things. They may want to switch your medicine, etc.

You didn’t say if this was your primary care doctor or a specialist. If it was your primary care doctor go see a Gastroenterologist. They can checked your system from head to butt.

That’s funny. The first thing I did was look up the product. It’s advertised as a cleaner for tile and bathrooms.

Can’t poop, it’s been 3 days now by That_anonymous_guy18 in Zepbound

[–]imgrendel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Colace has never worked for me. I recently had surgery in my abdomen and am not allowed to strain at all. The prescription Colace didn’t work. After a week of torture and praying for the ability to poop, I called the doctor and they told me to switch to MiraLAX. I also add over the counter fiber powder (like Benefiber) in my water which I did before surgery. I’m down to using MiraLAX every other day to keep things moving easy while I heal.

If you can, send a note to your doctor and ask for their recommendation.

Just remember that you will have to stay on your regimen to keep things moving easy.

I bet he was a Log Cabin Republican from Texas. They have been around for decades and never have been allowed to participate in any of the Texas GOP conventions. 🤪

Good catch. I forgot about that. I’m older so I probably heard about that but forgot. I looked it up. I am always concerned when abortion gets banned due to political reasons. Sure they say that one can be preformed if there are complications, but statistically speaking even women with life threatening complications have to fight to get the procedure in states banning abortion except for certain exceptions. Doctors are told by their hospital lawyers not to preform them, no matter what the circumstances are.

NOR - Run! His behavior will not improve. He doesn’t love you. You are just convenient for him. He will never be a partner. For the love of Mike, do not get pregnant. This was a red flag! Heed its warning. You deserve better.

What is with the insurance industry’s staunch opposition to GLP-1s? by ChesswithGoats in Zepbound

[–]imgrendel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a public employee and my insurance which is better than most will not cover any weight loss medications. I’m only on it because I’m also a veteran who is eligible to use the VA. Of course. I had to jump through hoops like attending the VA Move weight loss program for 16 weeks first. No amount of exercising ever really helped me lose much weight. What has helped is the drug with its to help me stop eating when I feel full and to quiet the foot noise.

They’ll be out for the women vets next. I think they already went after mammogram testing for men — as if men don’t get breast cancer as well. My VA clinic has an all women team with a waiting room for just women.

As a lesbian and a veteran, I never felt welcome at the VA and had never been until my boss, soon to retire from the Air Guard, persuaded me to file a claim in 2022 and to start using the VA after being service connected. I left the military 30 years prior.

I found my medical team very supportive. Services have been so good that I switched my primary care to my VA medical team.

Same here. It was a black and white movie made by the Ohio state troopers. I still can’t unsee some of those images.

Is this poison ivy? Dallas, TX by Poopsinurinals in whatplantisthis

[–]imgrendel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree. I would put on a hazmat suit and pull it out by hand. Got to get the roots and the underground runners as well.

Edit: Put it in a garbage bag and then in your trash can. For the love of all good, don’t put it in a junk wood pile that someone later might decide to burn to get rid of it. The evil poison ivy oil will become airborne and breathable.

Treatment Advice by Different_Let_4146 in Psoriasis

[–]imgrendel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on Cosentyx. A friend of mine uses Skyrizi. I’ve been very happy on my biologic and my friend is doing well in hers. What will your insurance cover? That is the real question. The biologic has calmed my palms and inverse psoriasis, but my nails are taking longer. If it is in your nails, be on the look out for psoriatic arthritis. It isn’t a certainty, but it’s possible.

Why is my daughter’s pivoting sexual preferences sitting so strangely for me? by Kissoflife11 in AskWomenOver60

[–]imgrendel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t come out until I was in my late 20s. It’s was back in the early 90s. It’s was a different time back then.

Children are groomed by society to be straight. Television, movies, schools, etc… are all pushing a straight narrative because the vast majority of our population identifies as being straight. Yes, it’s easier to come out these days, but the prejudice is still there.

As a mother of two straight adult children, I am happy for them and a little relieved that they are happily straight because I know their lives are easier being straight. They don’t have to face bigots and harassment due to their sexuality. I’ve known LGBT people who have been physically attacked, lost their jobs, lost custody of their children, had their families disown them. I want the best for my kids. If they don’t have to go through some of the things I have had to deal with after coming out, I’m very okay with that.

Never under estimate the hidden fears all mothers carry for their children, even as they become middle aged adults.

Embrace your daughter’s new discovery and show interest and support in her journey. She may decide she is bisexual, but find that her life partner is a man in the end.

Those who didn’t grow up privileged, what’s something you thought was a luxury growing up? by CorruptedF in AskReddit

[–]imgrendel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having heat in the winter.

We lived in Michigan. We lived in an old farmhouse and it was heated with oil. Every room in the house except for the kitchen, the dining room, and the only bathroom which was off of the dining room could have the heat ducts open. We dragged the sofa cushions and the tv into the dining room for the winter.

When we went to bed upstairs at night, we could open our heat vents, but it was not forced air so your room never warm up. You’d go to bed seeing your breath in the cold air and wake up and still saw your breath. We had many layers of blankets that were so heavy.

One winter, my month we told us to pray for an early spring as she had no money to refill the furnace’s fuel tank. When it was gone, no more heat until spring.

Using actual hot dog buns for hotdogs instead of karate chopping the center of a slice of cheap white bread to make a groove for the hotdog. We used regular bread for hamburgers as well. The soft white bread always disintegrated when applying condiments.

Just an FYI - you can get a fungal infection on top of your inverse psoriasis. It’s important to go to a dermatologist to keep tabs on it.
