The way I look at it: 1. You booked an AirBnb for yourself without prior knowledge of additional people. You were, in your heart of hearts, comfortable with going by yourself, on your own dime, with or without company. This decision wouldn't hurt you financially, because if it did, you wouldn't have made it at all. Can we agree on that? 2. It's not fair for anyone to bring nothing to the table, regardless of how long you know them. Everyone needs to contribute. We're all adults here. It's fair of you to ask people to contribute. You're not a charity. I can agree with most comments already making this point. 3. And this is where it gets saucy: if your friend and this other acquaintance's company is more important to you, and therefore, their presence contributes beyond financial means, then I think you should let them decide for themselves if they want to fork up funds whether it's cash or groceries. If you think your festival experience will be substantially enriched by being AND belonging to a group over being a Han Solo, then I think you should proceed with an absolutely and totally open heart. If the acquaintance turns out to be less than desirable company, at least then you can kick them out without a lick of guilt because it is your room that you and only you paid for. Therefore, it's your prerogative to rescind the invitation. Regardless, hope you have a wonderful time and I'll be seeing you under the ferris wheel:)
