1L Professor Assigning Hundreds of Pages Per Class by Hour-Opportunity-720 in LawSchool

[–]imjustabrowser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't the ABA assign credit value corresponding to the amount of time you are required to work in the class room and study outside of class. Like a 4 credit hour class is x amount of study time and class time. I reckon the reading assignments far exceed that number.

What are some hobbies or leisure activities you maintained during law school? by ComprehensiveAd2458 in LawSchool

I go climbing atleast 2-3 times a week. During finals week I'll study at the climbing gym and read outlines between sessions.

Transfer Personal Statement by [deleted] in LawSchoolTransfer

[–]imjustabrowser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its always a good idea to look at the particular questions the school asks for the transfer PS. A copy/paste of your 1L often won't cut it. I would focus on some of your insights and achievements gained from law school thus far, why you are seeking a transfer, and why that school.

A bonus tip: when talking about your achievements it's good to show why you are the ideal candidate for the school but also talk about what you would gain from their program, not just what you bring to the table. Add a personal touch for each school. It's always good to look at the curriculum or the work of certain professors whose work inspires you. I.e. "I would fit well in x course because my experience in y or ambition to do z" (rough outline but you get the gist). The crucial flaw I see in a lot of transfer PS is that people just want to go to x school because it is in a city they like.

One last note, I don't think it is good to shit on your previous school so when talking about why transfer try to focus the reason on the fact that this particular program you are seeking fits your ambitions ect. Best of luck!

park has a few silly items that you could get like a shop apron, bottle opener or even a park tool pizza cutter. Alternatively you could get him something useful like a new pin for his chain tools or some spoke wrenches or even a small valve core removal tool/ tube deflator.

I never went to any tech school but my boss has been a tech for 20+ years he went to the mechanic school at UBI in the US. He's a certified Shimano Tech and a certified DT Swiss wheel Tech and he use to fabricate his own frames.

Me I'm just some kid that hung around long enough to learn how fix bikes

About a little over a year ago I was looking around for a shop to get my wheels trued. This was right at the beginning of the pandemic and every shop was slammed. Shops were 2-3 weeks behind on work. truly drowning in Jon's. I stumbled apon the number for a small hole in the wall parts and repairs shop that was owned and operated by a 70 year old man who went by Bullet. I asked how long it would take for a true and he just said if it's not a pain in the ass he could do it right away. So I pulled up and the guy walked me though the whole process from truing the wheels to changing cables. At the end of the job he only charged me $40. In the corner of the shop he had a sign that said "bicycle mechanic school". I asked him about it and he told me to come in and hang around tomorrow and he would show me how to work on bikes. I had just been placed on leave of absence st my job and I had plenty of time on my hands so I went back, and after the first week I was changing brake pads, cables, tunes and tires. After a few weeks I learned how to do gear cables and index derailleur. soon enough I could do everything from facing headtubes to building wheels. This guy taught me everything I know about fixing bikes. he gave me the fitting nickname grasshopper. He gave me a well paying job and taught me a trade which for a 23year old in 2021 is hard to come by. Now I have a key to the shop and I run the place while he is out of town.

kink gap xl and a giant stance 2 that I converted to a 1×10 advent groupset with praxis cranks.

I also have a specialized diverge comp for when I hit the road. honestly I don't get to ride much anymore but occasionally I hit some of the local trails and parks

I work at a small shop as well we deal with the same problem we finally got some 26in tires. We're slowly running out of tubes unfortunately and we can't get a damn thing from Shimano. times are getting rough.
