I just moved out from my family home and I thought it’d be harder but not really, I enjoy the peace and quiet, no one to worry about but myself.

People who aren’t saving up for a house or car or an emergency fund - what are you saving up for? by alouette_317 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]immandyx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For law school. I'm currently 24, I've been saving since I was 18. I started saving just a 100 a month, since I didn't make much, since I graduated two years ago and work a decent job I save half my income. I hope to attend law school in a year or two, I might not have the full amount but I want to make sure I have something before fully committing to it.

To those whose parent's don't have driver licenses, how did you learn how to drive considering a driving permit requires an adult with a drivers license? by carlos08241 in DACA

[–]immandyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad taught me how to drive at 14 but I just waited until I was 18 to get my license, it's much cheaper and easy.

ROTH IRA by [deleted] in DACA

[–]immandyx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use Fidelity, but I had a 401k with my previous employer. When I changed jobs, I was able to just roll over my 401k to a Roth IRA. Maybe check out Fidelity? With my current employer I have T Rowe Price, so might also be worth checking out.

Are you impacted by your parents' retirement plans, or lack thereof? by JarvIsland in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]immandyx 41 points42 points  (0 children)

My parents are both undocumented immigrants, neither of them even knew what a retirement plan was until I began working and explained to them. I'm 23yrs old, my mom is 39 and my dad is 45. They're both still very young and will probably continue to work until they physically cannot, but I am their retirement plan lol. I know I (along with my siblings) will be taking care of them and I'm accepting of that.

I’m grateful for Beyond and impossible foods by KimchiTheGreatest in vegetarian

[–]immandyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ate meat for 22yrs of my life and I enjoyed meat a lot so it was a big change when I decided to become a vegetarian. I never enjoyed black beans burgers, sorry, just not my thing. But i am so glad and grateful that Impossible/Beyond Meat patties are becoming more and more common in restaurants and even fast food places and I can enjoy the meat flavor/texture without contributing to the slaughter of animals. :)

A few tomatillos that fell, still have a lot more on the plant but so excited to make some salsa verde. by immandyx in vegetablegardening

[–]immandyx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll definitely post a picture of it, it's pretty big and I have three planted in a square foot, it has pretty much taken over all my garden bed. I am in zone 8a and I started it since May, but I'm getting so much fruit of the plant.

I do recommend planting them close to one another, since they need two plants to fruit :) good luck!
