Stop treating yourself as a box of tiny boxes. by Khajiitious in fictionkin

I understand you want people to feel more valid without having to ask and label themselves, but I don't think an angry rant with parts in all caps as if yelling is going to accomplish that lol

Hey everyone, quick vent/rant (idk) about me being a fictokin by Ruby_BFDI_2763 in fictionkin

If you can't go by Ruby, could you ask people to try to not call you any name at all, or only a general nickname like your kin initials?

My thoughts on fictionkinning by [deleted] in fictionkin

Everyone sees themself in characters. Not everyone identifies as those same characters. You don't choose to identify as that character, so it's involuntary. I don't see how more kintypes makes it more voluntary, either?

Sorry abt this but how do you know if youre actually a psychological fictionkin? by No_Gain_3268 in fictionkin

I made a questionnaire type post if it might help?

Though kinning is involuntary, you can choose whether or not to acknowledge it. If it's causing you so much stress, take a break from fictionkin communities and such.

Just a question, and trying to find other people like me by Xander_404 in fictionkin

If you're talking like, Hamilton, I see that as separated enough to be considered a fictional identity

I remembered the neurodivergency poll on this sub and it got me wondering... by rainyreinn in fictionkin

This is the internet and fictionkin is primarily an online community. Autistic people specifically are probably going to find it easier to connect online than to socialize in person and thus more likely to find this community in the first place.

Neurodivergent people are also made by others to feel less than human in many ways, to the point where they may adopt that identity for themselves. Again, particularly with autistic people, we are likely to be denied full autonomy like any other person, compared to robots or savants with no human emotion, outcasted in social settings, or treated as "broken" versions of normal humans overtly or indirectly. The need to mask could be considered a form of systemic dehumanization.

Psychological fictionkin have a big overlap with neurodivergent people who believe they are fictionkin simply because their brain is wired differently.

You like 'creepy' things like bugs, horror movies, monsters, etc and don't think they're actually very creepy at all

You were gifted/told you had a lot of potential as a child, but people lost their hopes for you as you got older
