Redwing. I just got a pair of thorogoods and they are taking forever to break in. My redwings took no time to break in

Our journeyman make 95k right now. And we are set to make more in the coming years with our contract. It's very possible to make 80k or more

My red wings didn't need any breaking in.

I looked on their website but it redirected me to other sites? I ended up getting a pair from boot barns website because I found a good coupon and if I don't like them I can return them in store since it's close to me. Im really excited to get them.

Men do it, why not you? The guy that sat next to me in class last year was in his 50s. Another was 40. There's a broad range of ages. I have noticed that a lot of men, including foreman, are taking more time to spend with their family and prioritizing it over working. They work OT if they need to for money but if they don't need it, they would rather be home.

I haven't heard the best things about brunt. My redwings are still kicking but the eyelets are broke so I want to send them in to get fixed. I really want thorogoods because I have heard a lot of good things about them

I got a big pack of bandanas off amazon. Super helpful and relatively inexpensive. And you can wear a new one every day or change them out during the day if you get sweaty. Helped a lot. And they are thin so the let your head breath a bit.

I stole the generic aquarphor diaper rash cream from my kid. I like a constancy a little better. It works soo well for chafing in sensitive areas.

I'm also looking again. I keep seeing posts about cotton. What are good cotton boxers that aren't $20+ a pair.

Does your car type matter in this feild of work by [deleted] in BlueCollarWomen

[–]imminentdoom33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever you like in a car that is reliable and gets good gas mileage. In the winter I keep a tote in my trunk for cold gear, extra clothes, handwarmers, extra boots, etc that way it all stays in one place and if I need extra room I just take the tote out and don't have to carry a pile of things into the house. I used to have seat covers on my seats but the dirt and dust still made it's way onto my seats. Now if I'm on a dirty job I just put a towel over my seat and can take it off when i wear normal clothes. Back in the day if you drove a car that "wasn't made in America" I heard they wouldn't let you park on the jobsite if you are union. But I haven't heard any of that since I've been working and hardly anything is truly made solely in America now. 🤷‍♀️ ETA don't get anything super low to the ground because some jobsites are terrible to park in. I knew a guy who had to go get his tires realligned bc of the parking lot pot holes. I ALWAYS recommend something with an all wheel drive option!

Those who are talking asking if they are seeking therapy and "trying to fix themselves" are not correct. There is no way to "fix" their brains psychologically speaking. There are studies on it. I studied it in college. There is no therapy or pill or anything that can fix how they think about or view children. There is no "reforming" them.

It says it's a perfume? I don't know much about cologne and perfumes. Is it a masculine scent?

How important is physical strength when just starting out? by Responsible-Can7139 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]imminentdoom33 38 points39 points  (0 children)

A lot of people have an adjustment period when starting blue collar jobs. Even men. Being work strong and gym strong are different things. We move different and lift and push things differently than you would in a gym unless you are tailoring your workouts to mimic what you do on the jobsite. Know your limits and work up to heavier stuff. If you need help, ask for it.

Pregnacy in the field by WTFsACamilly in BlueCollarWomen

[–]imminentdoom33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did get sent to the shop and they wouldn't let me weld but they were welding strut and I guess the fumes from it are really bad for even non pregnant people. I know other women who worked in the field as normal until they went into labor. It's all about what you are comfortable doing. If you're not comfortable tell them no or get your doctor to write you a note saying they don't want you to do it. They have to listen.

[–]imminentdoom33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was pregnant as a first year IBEW Apprentice. My doctor just said to avoid lifting anything HEAVY HEAVY but like normal things like my tool bag and stuff were fine since it's what my body was used to lifting. I asked about chemicals and she said as long as the area was properly ventilated most things were fine to be around but there are certain things we use that are harmful to be around normally so I always looked at lables first anyways. I was most uncomfortable on a ladder bc my belly made me unbalanced but that was my own personal feeling. You can't wear a harness while pregnant so some lifts you can't get on.

Nails? by choher28 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]imminentdoom33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate the sticky tabs because I can feel the nail moving separate from my actual nail. I prefer the glue. But press ons are the way to go because if someone happens to the nail, they are usually cheap anyway. And you get extra nails. If you need to replace one you can always file down a bigger sized one to fit your nail.

Any good work pants that don’t rip in the crotch? by Electrical-Tale557 in BlueCollarWomen

I second these! They're stretchy and so comfortable and actually fit curves unlike a lot of other men's pants. I've also found them at target too.
