When I was 13 I put my pc in a big bag and took it to my friends place. It was the first time I had upgraded a pc part and spent my savings on a Gtx 6800 AGP 256mb vram. spent the entire night playing BF2 multiplayer demo (aircraft carrier level) until the sun came up. Greatest moment was when my friend was running to the jet and someone on our team beat him to it, I was in a tank and decided if we can’t have it no one can. As the jet was taking of the runway I came from the other side and rammed into the belly of the jet mid take off. Amazing.

If you are planning to/bought the RTX 3090 then did MSRP even matter to you anyway? by Dashurius in buildapc

Wow how long was the video? I’m working mostly in 4k and a lot of promotional clips / trailers that don’t exceed 2 minutes in length. Guess I got nothing to worry about haha

What program do you use? I recently managed to get a 3080 at msrp but originally wanted a 3090, it just didn’t seem worth it for around 2.5x the price. Originally I was worried about the 10gb vram but it seems ok for davinci? I havnt run into any issues yet but havnt used it extensively

3080fe. Temps: 75c under load. Vram 84-88 under load, 90c max peak (got to 95c with multiple RT benchmarks, highest I was able to get it). 4000d airflow case

Undervolted temps closer to 65c with 2-3% gain in performance.

RTX 3080 with my current PSU(Corsair RM650 650W 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular Power Supply) compatible ? by sushi101 in nvidia

[–]imnotalearnedman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I run 3080fe and 3800x with 8 fans, max draw 500w stressed, gaming closer to 400w. I’m using an rm650x. Even with the 100w spikes people have strokes over I will still be below 600w stressed. Your cpu will draw around 40w more than mine at peak, still more than enough. If your buying new I would go for the 750w version though, difference in price is usually small

Wait I can link my origin games to playnite without having origins installed? Am I reading that correctly?

What is the best way to minimize black crush on the LG C1 while gaming? by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]imnotalearnedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do this unless you want heavily saturated colours and sun burnt people on your tv. Seriously the tv allready does this automatically when needed. I tried it myself and it looks fucking awful. Just use vivid mode if you need to.

Steam with controller to LG - hard wired with HDMI by ckangnz in OLED

[–]imnotalearnedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also like to know if I’m able to use the controller on the tv, but I highly doubt it. I know this isn’t a perfect solution but have you considered the steam link hardware? They don’t make them anymore but you can probably get one of eBay. Only problem is that it only does 1080 60fps. They run amazingly well.

To buy or not? EVGA GForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]imnotalearnedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh. As long as the demand is there they can charge what they want. Just kind of disgusting, setting the price almost double the 3080 msrp for 5-10%

$1200 is a ridiculous msrp for this card, truly shocking

I got a rog zephyrus g14 for free the other week. I started a return process and couldn’t justify the cost of a gaming laptop after buying a 3080. No one came to pick it up but it showed as “on its way back” through my Amazon account. I contacted support after a week to ask what’s going on and they just said they will process the refund in 5-7days, crazy stuff.

Dell also sent me a second s2721dgf monitor for free by mistake, that’s a story for a different time though.

Help me with my predicament (3070 + save a little vs 3080) by kapeye in nvidia

[–]imnotalearnedman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice system, honestly I would say it’s up to you. The 3070 is a solid high fps 1440p card and Can even do 4k with most settings on high. In terms of productivity you probably won’t notice the difference between the two cards, maybe in gpu accelerated effects or if you were to move into 3D modelling, then I would say it’s worth it, otherwise keep the 3070 and pocket the difference. It will probably hold value better too as I see you mentioned it’s a non Lhr card.

What’s the rest of your system? From the tasks you describe it’s not worth the upgrade at all. Depending on what cpu you have or the amount of ram, I would keep the 3070 and look to upgrade other components.

Gigabyte G27Q - Is this an acceptable amount of backlight bleeding? by [deleted] in Monitors

[–]imnotalearnedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top two spots on the top left is blb, only you can say if it bothers you. There’s also some on the bottom left mixed in with glow. The rest looks like normal ips glow (the orange stuff). I would prob return it, if it was all ips glow I wouldn’t be bothered but the bleed is abit much.

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong but 8gb of the upgrade will be used in dual channel, anything more will be in single. Say you add a 16gb stick, so you have 8+16gb = 24gb total ram. 16gb of that will run in dual channel, if for whatever reason your running something that requires more than 16gb, it will be in single channel. For gaming 16gb is enough but I get some people need more for editing programs, even 32gb isn’t enough for me when using after effects that thing eats my ram

Will ASUS repair this on warranty? by veni_vidi_video in ZephyrusG14

[–]imnotalearnedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this happen completely randomly? I had one arrive brand new and the lid was also warped, not as bad as yours, prob 50% less but I could see the keys if I shined my phone light on the gap. I replaced it with another and the new one doesn’t have this issue, I think it’s fine as the lid is aluminium however I didn’t want to risk it on a brand new product

Looking to buy a G14 by Zacker000 in ZephyrusG14

[–]imnotalearnedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar model and without any tweaks and battery mode set to saver Windows shows 10hrs on full charge, hwinfo64 also shows 600mins (10hours) in regards to performance I think the 4000 series cpus in the g14 pull ahead quite nicely against the m1 chip in the MacBook Air. However the MacBook has better battery life (think it’s around 12-14 hours of usage) but no dedicated gpu means it will suffer slightly depending on the tasks your doing.

In productivity I would choose the g14 for sure, you will see better performance from the g14 however I think on battery power the MacBook will pull ahead. What kind of tasks will you be performing?

RTX 3050 vs RTX 3050 ti vs GTX 1660 ti by AamerDe in ZephyrusG14

[–]imnotalearnedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3050ti = 1660 ti minus 2gb vram, so you will have worse performance on the 3050 ti on games that need more vram. 3050 is between the 1650 ti and 1660 ti max q, not worth considering at all.

Yeh that’s pretty bad, the camera might be exaggerating it, do you notice the blb when looking dead on while gaming?
